A black comedy: when former school chums Sophie and Gemma reunite after 20 years at Sophie's country estate, the idyllic-sounding long weekend takes a turn for the unexpected.
I wanted to like THE LONG WEEKEND more than I did. I've listened to quite a lot of Jeremy Front's work and despite being a fun and clever writer, he always misses the mark for me. It's a tone issue. There's always a slapstick or farce element that isn't in keeping with the story. One of the story's reveals at the end is in pretty poor taste and really wasn't necessary. A shame really.
