When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

Amanda M. Lee wins the snork award again

I'm thoroughly enjoying Amanda M. Lee's Books. I started reading her in 2019, with the Wicked Witches of the Midwest series. After I read that series, I had to read her other books. The mysterious people on Moonbay island were Intriguing. It is a joy to see what they will do next.

I am currently on a paranormal binge. Almost everything I've read recently has been paranormal in nature. This series is overflowing with the paranormal we've got cupids, Vampires, A multitude of shifters and more. I will admit however, that I enjoyed the Wicked Witches of the Midwest series more. I just like the characters in that series better I feel like the characters In the Moonbay series , sometime behave more like gossiping, angst riddled teenagers then adults.

The series of still worth reading and I think a lot of people will really enjoy it I hope if you haven't given Amanda M. Lee a chance, that you will pick up 1 of her books today! Most are available on kindle unlimited. One caution this series contains characters from her grim reaper series. I felt like I should have read that series 1st

Good New Series

Love the concept of a vacation island just for paranormals. And everyone living on the island is a paranormal. Characters are interesting. The mysteries in the first two books were good. The pace was a little slow, maybe because it is a new series and character and world building were important. The third book, however, was awesome. It was a cross-over with the Aisley Grimlock Mystery characters visiting the island. The pace was fast, and the mystery exactly what I expected by this awesome author.

(FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I want to change my scoring by 0.50 or more of a star. -- I tend not to read reviews until after I read a book, so I go in with an open mind.)

2.75*
FYI I read a few of these back to back a while ago and forgot to post this from notepad.

I mostly like the characters.

World building could be better. ---- The lighthouse situation bugs me. It's not uncommon for lighthouses to have other buildings attached, so since it's her mother's ancestral home via MC's now deceased grandmother and handed down her line, I figured that was the case. Yet the author states its only 3 floors with a room per floor (excluding bathrooms) which includes the 'light' level and that's the entire home. So where did her mother sleep growing up? It's even mentioned to MC that she will need to move if has children, yet no other ancestral home is mentioned for her maternal grandmothers family. MC never asks to see the home her dead mother grew up in, because the lighthouse is presumably it, but its not big enough. ---- It bugs me because its just sloppy world building at the very basic level!

Also continuity in the series is not great.
See examples below (up to book 9)
[1] As happened in the first two books, the MC will be told something about a species and next book its a surprise they exist and she's told about them again.
[2] A shifter species is extinct in North America, but is known to still be in Africa, then later books they're believed extinct around the world.
[3] Someone inherits a mansion & money, then next book or so they're having to pick up a second job.
When reading back to back it gets annoying.

First time read the author's work?: No

Will you be reading more?: Maybe

Would you recommend?: Maybe

------------
How I rate Stars: 5* = I loved (must read all I can find by the author)
4* = I really enjoyed (got to read all the series and try other books by the author).
3* = I enjoyed (I will continue to read the series)
or
3* = Good book just not my thing (I realised I don't like the genre or picked up a kids book to review in error.)

All of the above scores means I would recommend them!
-
2* = it was okay (I might give the next book in the series a try, to see if that was better IMHO.)
1* = Disliked

Note: adding these basic 'reviews' after finding out that some people see the stars differently than I do - hoping this clarifies how I feel about the book. :-)

Triple Fun!

The first three books in this series are loads of fun, and they just get better and better as the story progresses!
Hadley and Galen are two of my favorite couples this author writes, and that's really saying something as they have lots of competition.
The third book is a crossover with the Grimlocks which was especially fun.
If you haven't read this series, I highly recommend it!
You should start with the Grimlocks first though, or you will not get the references in the third book.
Good reading!

Awesome

If I had to sum up my view on this series, I would say that it's a complete entertainer with all the ingredients to be as popular as the TV sitcom 'Bewitched'. Every book in this box set is absolutely thrilling, funny, magical, cute and adorable. Author Amanda M. Lee certainly knows how to keep the readers enchanted under the magical spell of her paranormal cozy mysteries like the Moonstone Bay Cozy mystery.

0 stars. DNF.

Honestly, the only reason I started this book is because I had purchased the first three books in a bundle from Audible.

The FMC is insufferable and rude. The male characters are rolled and fried in so much misogyny I have to wonder if the author just hates herself, or women in general. All of this stuff is only “cutesy” if you’re a teenager who doesn’t have an ounce of self respect, or command the respect of those around them.

Gross. Do not recommend.

Entertaining

So much fun. Hadley is figuring out her magic. Her and Galen get to the next level. Booker and Lilac actually get to show some magic. Aisling is her usual !ought feisty self, and her family all make some kind of appearance.
The story is interesting, the mystery was just right, and the crossover blended well.
Highly recommended.

New characters!

What a great couple. Hadley and Galen are the perfect match. They work together to solve murders while slowly calling in love. I hated for the story to end. I did like seeing
Ashlin and Griffin I this story. The Grimlocks are a favorite of mine . Enjoyed this 3 book series. I can hardly wait til July 2021!!!

It was hard to put down

What an amazing cast of characters! What a fun read! Reading this book was like a carnival, all lights, and sounds, and something to see wherever you look. Who wouldn’t love to visit Moonstone Island? Amanda Lee makes the characters live in your mind. I could see the locations as they were described I the stories. A great vacation read.

Moonstone Bay is right up there with the Witches of the Midwest and my favorite Amanda M. Lee series. Haley is naive about her witch origins but ready to learn when she accepts a lighthouse bequeathed to her. Great New friends and some creepy murders to solve soon follow.

Fun weird!

How do you not know you have magic powers? It’s fun learning more about paranormal creatures every day with Hadley. I’m hoping there will be more stories since she certainly has more to learn about herself as well as Moonstone Bay.

Love

I love everything I've read by Amanda Lee but I always face a new series with trepidation. Will I like it, is it an obvious outcome, is it repetitive throughout the book? Once again she has not disappointed. One of my favorite authors.

Great

A nice destination series. The characters are very likable and the third book is an absolute joy especially fans of the Grim Reaper series. This is definitely up to the usual Amanda standards.

I do enjoy this series. And book 3 was especially good. It not only showed a different side of two characters

But added the crossover from another series I enjoyed. Having three books together means I don't have to wait between each book. I do look forward to future books.

Paranormal Fun

Love, love, love this series. I started reading this as a time filler since I didn't have WiFi to load something else, but it sucked me in and wouldn't let me go. I loved this so much I've already purchased the next three books in the series.

The first three books in the Moonstone Bay series by Amanda M. Lee are included in this set. Good value for both ebook and audible. This book gives you Hadley's introduction to the paranormal world. She has no idea magic is real and finds out about a whole new world and previously unknown grandparents when she arrives at the island. Three mysteries are fun and Hadley gets involved in solving them. In the first mystery Hadley discovers a body on the beach. She meets the sheriff. Then she is targeted by the killer. In the second book, Hadley and Galen are on a date when they discover a body. Hadley helps with the investigation and ends up in the center of things. In the third book, you have Aisling Grimlock on her honeymoon and a murder on the docks. In each book Hadley discovers more about her magic. The island and characters grow through each book as the mysteries evolve. Hadley and Galen are a cute couple. This is a good starter for the series. If you like Amanda's work, you will enjoy this set.
