Zuri Msongo is a leader of pro-democracy revolutionaries in the fictional African nation of Bendola. The head of their movement is her father, and she's frustrated that he seems to think her safety is just as important as his. He's the one who will hopefully be the first freely elected President of Bendola in twenty years, after all. She's David (Bendolan mother, American father), persuades her father to hire his old US Army buddy, Daemon Knight, to be her bodyguard. Especially when Knight recommends postponing the meeting they've scheduled with representatives from western governments, seeking support for the rebels.
The meeting goes ahead, and of course Knight was right about the security leak. The meeting takes place, successfully, but then the Msongos and their top people are attacked while attempting to leave. Daemon Knight gets her out, but her father is killed.
From this point on, it's a battle of wills, and a battle of cool judgment vs. passionate dedication and patriotism.
It's a little complicated by the fact that Daemon Knight is not your average high-level bodyguard or security expert. He's the head of Knight's Shield Security, and heir to the Knight Industries conglomerate.
I'm not sure it's correct to call a story set in Africa "Ruritanian," but that's the basic idea. Bendola is a fictional country nestled into a spot on the continent that's almost plausible, without having to worry about the details of the histories of the real countries in that area. Initially, Zuri seemed to be implausibly willful and impulsive for a woman in her situation, but as the story progressed, the reality of the situation and the demands on her as the new head of the movement seemed to focus that drive more. Knight, meanwhile, has more mundane, but still serious, family problems of his own, with his estranged father pressuring him to take over as CEO of Knight Industries right now, a demand that seems unlikely coming from a man who has always been a workaholic and show no signs of slowing down.
Of course Zuri and Daemon are fighting their attraction to each other, and despite having gotten Zuri out successfully after the attack that killed her father, Zuri isn't wrong about needing to go back.
They're likable characters, and if the story isn't altogether plausible, it's no less so than any Ruritarian tale, a genre I've always enjoyed.
Recommended for a fun read.

This is an action packed suspense filled romance story.When Daemon Knight took the job protecting the daughter of a man trying to over throw the government from its dictatorship he never expected to meet a woman that will turn his world upside down.She beautiful feisty and a real pain in the ass.But that just make her so much more desirable to him.When she fired him in less than five minutes in he knows he wants to kiss that smart mouth.He ignored her rant and goes up to her father and his head body guard to try and set up a safe way to get him to the meeting. He tries to talk them into canceling the meeting telling him it's too dangerous but they won't lesson.After being ambushed they go grab her father and get him to the hospital where he tells Daemon to keep his daughter safe and Daemon promises him before he dies.When he has to do everything in his power to keep Zuri alive.He takes her to his home outside of DC. He crosses the line by kissing her.But he can't help himself.He's never felt what he feels for this woman.The twists and turns to this story will keep you riveted until the very last page.I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.

Eliza Ellis has a hit with this action packed romance. It is a love story set in the midst of a revolution. A small country in Africa is run by a dictator. The rebel leader contracts Dameon Knight, heir to Knight Enterprises, to protect his only child, the beautiful Zuri Msongo. She is a vibrant, emotionally charged, opinionated and passionately devoted to change in her country. He is a billionaire who is passionate about his job, protecting others, and is cool, calm, calculating and completely committed. The attraction is immediate and powerful. She doesn’t feel she needs a body guard and dies him, he declines. They have a clash of wills. As you can imagine that the storyline is filled with action, emotional twists, and romantic overtones. You’ll have to read it to find out more.
This is a great story for those who enjoy action packed romances with a great storyline. The story flows smoothly but you need to concentrate as the storyline is complicated with multiple characters and side themes. It is not your typical romantic easy read. What the characters go through is a roller coaster of emotions and not everything is rosy. It is dramatic and well written. I found it a great read.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Daemon and Zuri. Daemon is a security expert and bodyguard who was hired to protect Zuri by her father to protect her during their campaign to bring democracy to their country Bendola. When her father is shot, Daemon promises he will protect Zuri and he decides they have to flee the country for the US to bring in more allies to their fight. Zuri fights Daemon every step of the way and only agrees to leave with the promise they will return soon. Daemon's father wants him to take over the company, but Daemon is not ready to leave the field for a desk job. Daemon is also fighting his growing feelings for Zuri. When their location is discovered and they must flee again. Daemon and Zuri are growing closer and Daemon wants to try and find a way for them to be together after the government is overthrown and Zuri leads the country. I liked this book, i did find it fast paced and it had a lot of action. I loved how Daemon enjoyed frustrating Zuri and how he wanted to kiss her when she was so feisty. Good one.

Set in a small African country we enter the scene of a rebel planning session for a meeting with outside nations for political support. The lives of the rebel leader and his daughter Zuri are at risk and an outside bodyguard has been called in to provide protection. Admittedly Zuri is obnoxious, entitled, and arrogant in rejecting plans she hasn't been involved in creating but, honestly, I was taken aback by the caveman boorishness of the hero as he pictures himself "taming" her. Fortunately this image is rapidly stripped away as plans are pushed through, perhaps more rapidly than wisely. This is a romance so the tension between the main characters remains a focal point, but the mood shifts and multiple threads are woven together.

May 17, 2019This narrative was an exciting read. The tension between Zuri and Daemon was as thick as butter. It was interesting to read about a people who were ready to sacrifice in order to secure a better future for their people.
However, I felt like the first third of the book moved a little slow, repeating the same ideas over and over about how much our primary characters each believes that they know best and should be in charge. I believe that a lot of this could have been cut and the book would have been just as enjoyable.
This being said, I believe that the story is worth the patience of slogging through the beginning.

Non stop action.
Not a surprise ending but a fast paced adventure in a country in the middle of a revolution. A very engaging read with fast paced action and relatable characters. Love does not come early when you have splendour life dreaming of a free people and knowing they were so close to achieving that goal. Then suddenly you must be the face of the revolution and lead the country you live to a democratic type of government. After so many years in the Service and now running an international security company he is struck by a woman who he could call in love with but that would cross a line with a client. I enjoyed the story even though I knew the ending before I started the book.

This was a very different book than those I have previously read by this author. The beginning takes you into Africa in the middle of an election, a bodyguard search, the murder of the candidate for a democratic government, and a romance that is almost secondary to everything else that's transpiring. A very fast paced book that will keep you engrossed as Daemon deals with his father, Zuri mourns for hers and a romance keeps pushing through it all! A very good clean book by Eliza Ellis.

Wow, just wow. Most of the recent billionaire books have been enjoyable romances with the usual tropes, but this one blew me away. The Billionaire Bodyguard's plot centers around a small African nation fighting for democracy and attempting to overthrow the current totalitarian government. The romance is almost secondary to the fight. Do not misunderstand, this is also a great romance. I highly recommend this book. I could not put it down!

This is definitely not your average billionaire romance. The story of Zuri and Dameon will blow you away. Full of suspense, danger and lots of fast action. This is part of the DC Billionaires series but can be read as a standalone. She's the daughter of a revolutionary in Africa. He's former special ops and son of a billionaire tycoon. The struggles of turning a country from being war torn into a democracy creates the backdrop. The daughter of the leader of this coup has big plans for her country once it becomes a democracy. But for now, she needs a bodyguard. Hired by her best friend and approved by her father the billionaire security firm's owner becomes her personal bodyguard. The struggles are real, but so is the chemistry arising between them.

He is hired to protect her when her father is hurt. They are trying to change the government of their country. Not an easy job. Zuri and Daemon are both hard headed, feisty and stubborn. Lots of danger, intrigue, ups and downs, hot and so much more. Not my usual read but I liked it. It definitely keeps you glued to the pages. Great fast paced, suspenseful, quick read. the storyline and the characters were wonderful. This kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next. Love prevails. This story that was full of action and adventures and was a really great! Lot s of drama and danger throughout the story. Romance was nice to read, but my most enjoyable part were the fighting with the government plotline and how that ended up.

This is the 1st book I’ve read written by Eliza Ellis; she has done a good job at writing a good book. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I really enjoyed this Clean Billionaire Romance. I received this for free and voluntarily chose to review it. I've given it a 4.7* rating. There was a lot of action and suspense in this. Both the hero and the heroine have to deal with a lot of grief and death. Lots of little twists and turns to keep you turning the pages.

I loved this book. The storyline is unusual (a political coup in Bendola) and although sad at times, is brilliant, and the chemistry between characters, although hard fought, is off the charts! So worth a read.

Oh wow, this is such an exciting adventure story. I was absolutely captivated from the beginning. The storyline is so intriguing, I couldn’t put it down. There is a lot of sizzling chemistry going on.
