Fighting escalates as the SPARTANS struggle to save humanity from the alien Covenant. Highlighting the talents of writer Duffy Boudreau and artists Douglas Franchin, Ian Richardson, and Sergio Ariño, this volume collects Halo: Escalation #13-#24, and features a cover gallery, annotations, and behind-the-scenes extras!
One of the most popular video game franchises ever commences in an explosive saga following UNSC Spartan Commander Sarah Palmer and her team as they attempt to put a stop to Dr. Catherine Halsey and Jul M'dama's pursuit of the mysterious Forerunner artifact, the Janus Key--the fate of the entire galaxy depends on them
It's a solid story I didn't need to have played Halo to enjoy. I'm not a fan of these annotated editions by Dark Horse. They waste so much of the page for very few pertinent comments. I'd rather the annotations just appear in the margins and we get full pages of art.
Received a review copy from Dark Horse and Edelweiss. All thoughts are my own and in no way influenced by the aforementioned.
Fun read to finish up the escalation comic series as far as I can tell. Spartan conflict with Mdama and Halsey at the absolute record facility. The site puts them through a test. Halsey takes control temporarily, and betrays Mdama. She has brief interaction with librarian saying Halsey is ready to take the next step. Spartans and Glassman try to contain Halsey to no success. They recover some information of forerunner tech locations from the site, and not much more. Halsey learns of ships and weapons. Halsey recovered by Mdama, and he begins conflict with Sali Nyon. Janus key disappears from Halsey as eventually she is told and is unworthy.
