I loved Sarah and White Thunder's story! I also loved that they had their happy ending, however, I felt it took a while for them to get there. LOL. At times I felt their trek through the wilderness was a bit tedious and at the same time it built their relationship. It was a great story of a love that could not be denied. I'm kind of sad to leave that world behind as I love this time period but on to the next adventure. I also plan to read author, Karen Kay's, other books. Enjoy!

Horrible dialogue, bad writing, weird ghost situation. Still fun though, although my brain may have decayed slightly after 300 pages of this.

The only good thing about this is that they’re decent people who actually communicate with each other. Otherwise, the writing is mediocre, the characters specters, and the plot merely a suggestion.

Indentured servant, Sarah Strong endures challenges of hardship and injury while traveling with her charge to New Hampshire. Many times she comes face to face with the danger of almost losing her life but when she meets White Thunder, she must also face the danger of losing her heart as well.

White Thunder has become a solitary Seneca Indian vowed to find his beloved wife and unborn child’s killer regardless of how long it takes. But once he stumbles upon a mysterious English woman washed up on shore, White Thunder finds that his life’s purpose just might be changing.

Seneca Surrender takes place in 1755, in the Lake George area of the New York colony. Fighting between the English and French threaten the Seneca tribe as both sides try to convince the Seneca to join their efforts. Fifteen years of searching and White Thunder is still no closer to finding his wife’s murderer. Vowing to avenge his wife’s death, White Thunder wants nothing to do with the European conflict surrounding his tribe. Still mourning the death of his wife, White Thunder stumbles upon an unconscious English woman barely alive. Unable to leave her to die, he hides her in a save place and assist her in her recovery. Sarah regains consciousness to find herself in the care of a Seneca warrior and without her memory. Sarah’s memory slowly returns reminding her that she still has a five year contract to fulfill as a servant. The pair begins to fall in love even though they are both aware of their cultural differences, the taboo surrounding their relationship and the fact they are both tied to past obligations.

The historical romance, Seneca Surrender transported me back to colonial America in 1755. Gen Bailey creates endearing characters that come to life in her stories and Seneca Surrender is no exception. The characters in this story show genuine emotion as they react consistent to their personality bringing them to life in the eyes of the reader. The hero, White Thunder and heroine, Sarah easily accept their given situations and remain true to the obligations they have vowed to fulfill even while enduring hardships and life threatening challenges. At the beginning of the story, White Thunder values avenging his wife’s death most in life causing him to live a shell of a life for the previous fifteen years. However, throughout the story he displays internal growth as he slowly begins to allow his heart to awaken and open to his developing feelings for Sarah. The conversations between White Thunder and Sarah are enjoyable and thought provoking as they demonstrate the cultural differences between the Europeans and the American Indians during this time period. Readers that enjoy a well developed romance with adventure and true to life characters will love Seneca Surrender.

I have to talk about the new Karen Kay/Gen Bailey book Seneca Surrender. It is an historical romance from Berkley Sensation. It's a a follow on from Black Eagle taking up the story of Sarah the maid as she finds her own hero.

The tone of the book is a lot darker than Kay's previous works which personally appeals to me. As you know reading romance novels is a departure for me, the reasons why I will not go into today.
Kay however fills her novels with interesting snippets of American Indian culture. And her heroine has a charm and realism to her that the majority of other romance writers miss. She is intelligent, articulate and she knows that her romance may not work and she knows and understands the reasons why.

The darker themes touched on in the book add to the realism, and don't skirt around the darker parts of history. Adding to my enjoyment of the book. Life isn't plain sailing and neither is love.

In whole it is a refreshing book. One I blame for me turning into work bleary eyed, after sitting up all night reading it. Yes it was that good I couldn't put it down.

In summary go read it. It is so far above the run of the mill romances that flood the market where some billionaire/prince falls in love with a plain shop girl who more often is devoid of personality and takes her away from the cruel world she knows (not actually that cruel she only seems to work one morning a week and has a house, car and can go shopping 3 times a week. Not to mention go on ridiculously expensive holidays)

I really enjoyed this book! It was a little slow going in spots, but it seem to pick up quite a bit.

Here's my attempt at a more in depth review this time around.

The year is 1755 and North America is being torn apart by the French and Indian war, and even though loyalties are divided that has not stopped Sarah Strong and a Seneca warrior called White Thunder from embracing their new found love for each other.

After being separated from her young mistress, indentured servant Sarah struggles to survive the perils of the woods with her new Seneca companion, their attraction for each other grows quickly but it's not only Sarah's duty to her mistress that hinders this quickly growing love, but White Thunder's promise to his late wife that he would take revenge on the person who murdered her and his unborn child.

The trials and tribulations this couple go through only make the story more interesting, Gen Baily is very good writer and I can't wait to get my hands on more of her unique Indian stories!

Loooooong, boring read. And it‘s not even 300 pages! I only scanned a lot of the middle section. There were some plot holes, WAY too many repetitions of the same dialogue and the same descriptions.
Oh, and for someone who seems to love historical accuracy: How can you talk about germs?! In the 18th century?!? That one threw me off.

Yeah. Never gonna read another book by Karen Kay. We are just not compatible.

This book was so annoying- I’ve read other books by Karen Kay however this one has put me off reading anymore! Sarah keeps calling White Thunder “Sir”, not only before she was intimate with him (which was annoying enough) but after she’s been intimate with him too (who calls an Indian “sir”) At times she calls him Mr Thunder - it just becomes really irritating. There’s also White Thunders wife’s ghost following them. This book was really stupid!👎🏻🤮

Well, I gave this one a three - because it sometimes actually delivers. Sometimes. Sometimes, the characters might behave in vaguely believable fashion.

I do feel like the sex scenes are a repeat of Bailey's other book (same series), Black Eagle, but whatever. And Black Eagle is so much more stunningly...ludicrous.

Exciting Romance

This romance is set in Colonial times when the English were fighting the French and each enlisted the help of various native tribes. Besides the romance, the author worked in the beliefs and codes of conduct of the Seneca people versus the British as well as the relationship among the Iroquois. Very enjoyable story.
