I am one of seven writers in a collective that formed to initially publish a trilogy of short stories in the Crime genre. We are called 'the3percenters'

I have appeared in many notable theatre productions, including Druid’s Threepenny Opera. I had two stories published in Storytellers, New Writing from Ireland in 2017. This was followed with The Apology and Rhythm of the Sea in Sins, New Irish Crime Stories in 2018. I am in the process of completing my first novel.

I am also a keen photographer

This is a fine collective achievement by a group of writers who, together, have created something greater than the sum of its parts. Not that the stories aren't good - they are - but what I found most appealing was the obvious pride they take in each other's work. They deserve the highest praise for coming together on this project to produce a piece of work they can all be proud of.

Seven Deadly Sins. Eleven Killer Stories.

SINS is a new anthology of crime fiction short stories from the3percenters. They are an authors’ collective and publishing partnership, originally associated with the annual Dalkey Creates Writing Festival, formed to promote emerging writers

SINS is a book that gives great insight into the wealth of talent among the Irish writing community today. Seven writers pick up their pens and twist their words around those seven deadliest of sins. There are eleven stories in total, each bringing it’s own unique approach to the short-story genre.

The story titles, with author, are as follows:

The Welfare Visitor ~ Martin Keating

A Casual Killing ~ Jenny Wright

The Lust of Lavinia ~ Mark Bastow

Rhythm of the Sea ~ Adrian Taheny

The Snake that Ate its Own Heart ~ Alix Moore

My Law, Not Your Law ~ Mark Bastow

Vainglorious Bastard ~ Caroline Bale

Doppelganger ~ Martin Keating

The Apology ~ Adrian Taheny

Let the Punishment Fit the Crime ~ Alix Moore

Itch ~ Susan Rodgers

SINS is edited by Ferdia Mac Anna, novelist, director, screenwriter and lecturer, a man well known in BAFTA circles and beyond.

As is the case with any short-story collection, some will appeal more than others, as each writer brings their own distinct style to their tale. There is a very common theme throughout of the twisted mind, as we see the lengths folk will go to to achieve their goals. Greed is a very common motif, as it is quite often the main driving force behind many a violent action, with the remaining deadly sins infiltrating each story, in some very insidious ways.

SINS is a perfect collection to have on hand when all you wish for is a quick read while traveling to work or taking a morning cuppa. I have no doubt that a number of these writers will go on to become household names, gracing the shelves of many a crime fiction department of a book shop or your local library.

SINS is an entertaining collection of short-stories, each with a disturbing tale to tell and each one very particular to the writer in question.
