Samantha Holt resides in Warwickshire, England, with her twin girls, having followed her soldier husband around the UK for nearly 10 years. Growing up in Hampshire, she was inspired by the authors Jane Austen and Elizabeth Gaskell, both of whom lived and wrote only miles from her home town.
Samantha loves the romance genre and has been devouring romantic literature for as long as she can remember. History is another passion of hers and she loves to combine her love for history and romance into exciting and passionate tales.
Good thing I was sitting while reading this book.... I still nearly broke my ankles tripping through A LOT of plot holes. Silly, silly book. Good for a laugh. Can't believe I read the whole thing.
4.5 Stars Lewis Knight left behind his life as the son of a viscount years ago. The rough, scarred man is quite content to use his brute force and bad reputation to help the Earl of Redmere with his smuggling, which is a ruse to aid the war effort. Knight doesn’t care too much about the reasons behind the subterfuge, so long as he gets paid. Then he’s forced to return to his estate in Northumberland after his father dies and thanks to the earl’s meddling, he’s accompanied by the woman who plagues his thoughts far too often. Louisa has been too busy running her inn to think too much about the dark, brooding Knight. However, when a man arrives in Cornwall with life changing news and Louisa’s inn is threatened, she must investigate. With Knight’s help, she digs into this stranger’s past and stirs up more danger than she thought possible. This is the fourth & final book in the series, it could well be read on its own, however if like me you love series you’ll want to read all four books. This is another engrossing read from the author, the pace is good & kept me riveted from start to finish. The characters are well portrayed & have plenty of depth. The descriptions of the slums in Bristol aren’t laboured but in a few sentences I could really visualise the dirt & squalor. I would have liked to have found out what happened to Abigail, maybe just a sentence in the epilogue. A shame the series has to end but this book tied up all the loose ends.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Knight🐺💪🔪, is mentally scarred and disowned by his cruel father, an Earl, but he manages to rescue his younger sister from their father's attempt to marry her to a cruel and criminal man for money. Later, Knight🐺💪 goes to The war and finds he enjoys killing, maybe it allows him to vent and gives him an outlet for his rage against this father. Knight🐺🍆🌋💪 is a huge beast of a man, and the war has left him physically scarred. He begins to work with an Earl and his brother and a friend to smuggle goods to and from France, even smuggling spies out of Cornwall by ship into France for The war effort.
Louisa💃💋 is a simple woman, a young widow, now owning and running the Inn in Cornwall, overlooking the port. Knight's sister also works at the inn, her husband being Drake, the Earl's friend and captain of their smuggling ship.
Knight🐺🍆🌋💪 is the muscle the brother's occasionally need. Customs men sometimes raid in the middle of the 🌙night. Knight🐺🍆🌋💪 spends his little spare time at the Inn. He is secretly in 💕love with Louisa💃💋, but he thinks she could never love a huge scarred brute like him. He doesn't know Louisa💃💋 is secretly in love with him! When Knight's cruel father, the Earl👹, finally dies, Knight🐺🍆🌋💪 must reluctantly return home to settle all the debts and the mess he left behind. Knight🐺🍆🌋💪 is probably a Viscount without an estate now.

This is the final book in the #1 bestselling Regency romance series! Lewis Knight left behind his life as the son of nobleman years ago. Rough and scarred he is quite content to use his brute force and bad reputation to help the Earl of Redmere with his smuggling—a ruse to aid the war effort. Knight doesn’t care too much about the reasons behind the subterfuge, so long as he gets paid.
He’s forced to return home and thanks to the earl’s meddling, he is accompanied by the woman who plagues his thoughts far too often… Louisa has been too busy running her inn to think too much about the dark, brooding Knight. Now that Knight is driven to protect her, it is harder than ever to keep the barriers in place. Somehow, she worms her way under his rough exterior. But Knight knows he’s not worthy of a woman like Louisa—not while his past shadows his every move.
My Thoughts:
This is the final book in this series and I have read them all. Samantha Holt writes enjoyable regency romance with just enough twists and turns to hold your interest. Some of the characters sometimes carry over from a previous book of the series but each one can be read as a standalone title.
I gave this book 4.25 of 5.0 stars for plot and character development. There is a small amount of intimacy in this book as in all of this author's works.

What's a Rogue Got To Do With It by Samantha Holt is book Four in the Rogues of Redmere Series. This is the story of Lewis and Louisa. I have read (and Loved!) the previous books, but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Louisa is a young widow who runs a Inn which she thought was hers until a thought dead step-son comes forward to claim the Inn. Lewis Knight left his life of a noblemen years ago to go forward to help with the smuggling business to aid the War. Knight has been attracted to Louisa from the start but has kept his feelings to himself because of his scars from the past. Then Louisa needs help which leads them to not be able to fight their feelings as they once were able too. Loved their story and such a big fan of Ms. Holt's books. Can't wait to read more from this author!
Such a Beautiful Romance! Knight and Louisa are thrown together in a carriage much against their will, but their attitudes soon change as do their opinions about each other. These two colourful characters kept me intrigued and trying to outguess them while finding out whether or not they would be able to overcome a man's claim that he was the new legal owner of Louisa's Inn. I really enjoyed this romantic story so very much.
This is a very good historical novel and it is moderately steamy. The story is well written and the characters are engaging and I liked them quite a lot. There is a nice HEA at the end and I think you will enjoy the story like I did.
This was a fast and enjoyable read. I found I couldn't put it down once I started. Knight and Louisa had some serious sexual tension and thanks to the slightly meddling Earl of Redmere the two are forced to together in a carriage on a journey across England. Add in some danger and threats to the lady's life and livelihood and sparks are sure to fly. Knight, the disavowed only son of a cruel viscount, is forced to return to the family estate upon his father's death to settle debts. Louisa, the widowed owner of an inn, is forced to take a similar journey when a newcomer to the village threatens her entire existence. Once the two are thrown together by the Earl, Knight cannot help but come to the aid of a lady in need, especially as she is a lady he has long admired from afar.
I really enjoyed this one and I would highly recommend it for a quick diversion!
Better than average quick read. Knight is a smuggler, scarred from battles in the army and also a nobleman whose terrible father disinherited him. Although he is physically imposing and skilled he tries not to permanently incapacitate or kill his enemies when he is involved in confrontations. He is infatuated with a pretty innkeeper but believes he is too brutish to ever warrant her notice.
Louisa is a widow who owns and runs the Ship Inn in Cornwall, left to her by her late husband. She has helped the band of noble smugglers from time to time and has been secretly attracted to the gruff and reserved Knight for a while.
When Knight's father dies he needs to go to his estate to try and settle his father's many debts. At the same time Louisa is threatened by a man claiming to be her husband's only child and claims he was mistakenly reported as dead in the war. He declares the inn to be his inheritance and gives Louisa two weeks to leave.
Louisa and Knight are offered the use of a noble friend's carriage to make their long journeys, but they have to go together....
Not too deep but still an enjoyable story. This book contains descriptive love scenes.
I enjoyed this book & the main & secondary characters were wonderful - once I started, I couldn't stop reading until "the end". Two people, a son who was thrown from his home at a young age, to make his own way, by his cruel viscount father & a young widow who who was married to a older man who needed help in his inn - they have had an attraction to one another for years but never acted on it or gave a hint of interest. That was until a mutual friend, the Earl of Redmere, stuck his nose in their business & they were forced to spend time in a carriage going north to Scotland. Our heroine is in danger of losing her business, our hero has become a viscount after his father left the title buried in debt, there are danger travelling, threats to murder the heroine but most of all there was chemistry between Knight & Louisa. Their HEA was filled with obstacles, some not of their doing but the biggest obstacles were the denial of feelings for each other & past guilt. A romantic & wonderful read!
Enjoyed the book. It is well written and entertaining to the very end. Knight and others are aiding England in its fight against Napoleon in the war by smuggling into France anything required of them. Because of this, they smuggle items back that they sell for a profit. Knight has come to care for Louisa but has never acted on these feelings until she is force to go Bath in order to save her inn. She travels with Knight and along the way there feelings become stronger and they give in to them. Knight is amazed that she would care for him as he is badly scarred from the war. There is a lot that happens in this book, Louisa’s stepson arrives claiming the inn, Knight inherits his father’s title Viscount and a crumbling indebted estate and other dangers occur along the way. There is a HEA for Knight and Louisa but there is a lot that happens first. This is a great book to read and I would highly recommend it.
I am always so happy when I see a new book by Samantha Holt. She writes wonderful characters and stories that just make you love historical romance even more. The hero, Lewis Knight has a past he just wants to forget, so he works to help the Earl of Redmere with his smuggling activity. But it is a ruse to hide that they are helping the war effort. When forced to return home, he ends up accompanying Louisa in a carriage ride and finds he just cannot get out of his thoughts! Louisa runs an Inn that she thought was hers but soon she is threatened and fears what will happen!! I loved these two characters and how they were both attracted to each other. Knight thinking nobody would truly care for him finds he has inherited his father's title and estates. Find yourself caught up in this fast paced tale that is the last in this amazing series. Although this can be read as a standalone, trust me, you will want to read them all!!
4 1/2 STARS! Fourth and final book in the Rogues of Redmere series. Has secondary characters from previous books in the series but can be read and enjoyed as stand-alone. Louisa a widow runs the local inn. Her ownership is in question when a thought dead stepson returns with the deed. Lewis Knight left home many years before having been disowned by his Viscount father. His father dying leaves him in charge of the estate and debt. Their relationship has been building for years. Both desiring the other but also keeping their distance. A match making friend has them traveling together alone and that is when the relationship takes off. This is a super sweet novella with a little steamy. Great book, I loved the series and highly recommend!
Knight is the heir of a selfish vicious Viscount, who disowned him because he stood up to him. Louisa grew up poor and married an older innkeeper for security. When Knight discovers his father has died and Louisa is faced with a man who claims to be her stepson and wants to take away her inn, they set out on a journey together to discover the truth and to face Knight’s past. Along the way they encounter highwaymen and other unsavory characters that want to do them harm. They also discover an attraction for each other that they can’t fight and the potential for a love that would overcome all their hardships and find peace and happiness together. There was plenty of action, humor, and romance in this concluding story to the series.
This is a intriguing and entertaining story. Knight is stubborn, insecure, tough and lonely. Louisa is tough, caring and generous. Knight is a smuggler who has been physically and emotionally scarred by his father and the war. Louisa helps the smuggling ring by telling them when the revenuers were around, and also by storing goods for them. Knight has been attracted to Louisa from the start, but he thinks that he's too scarred for a woman to be attracted to him. Louisa finds Knight intriguing. When they end up on a trip together, things get personal and they both try to fight their growing feelings. The storyline is interesting and the characters are fascinating and the end is very sweet.

Loved it! I've Been waiting eagerly for Knight and Louisa's story ever since the first longing glance and wasn't disappointed. Great chemistry between the characters, full of mystery, passion, suspense, intrigue and nefarious intent, right up until the happy ever after. Always love it when the dark brooding hero is really a big soft teddybear and the beautifully willful and spirited heroine slowly melts his misguided resolve into a declaration of love. Enjoyable read that had be engaged and consumed from the beginning; only wish it was longer. Perfect ending to a series that can be enjoyed as a standalone but I strongly recommend you check the other rogues out too and fall in love all over gain.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This was part of a series and since I enjoyed this book I will go back to start at the beginning. This was a fun and fast read that I truly did enjoy. We have Knight who is scared, but is this brute of a man that started his life over when his horrible father thru him out. He hangs out at this Inn where his sister works and also Louisa who he is secretly in love. When problems arise and threats to her life, he will get to the bottom of it and while doing they sparks are over the place..Enjoy! I dont want to give to much away so you can read.
A series that I have enjoyed to read. This is the fourth and final book. It is well written and has a nice storyline and plot. It is true to the time period in which the story takes place. I like it when authors have taken their time to research. A Hero that is scared from his childhood and time in the war. He is broken and starts to work as a smuggler. Heroin is a normal young widow who own an Inn. Knight often comes to this Inn and has a crush on Louisa the owner. But his scares makes him think a lot. Can she tear down his walls? Can he give her what she seeks? A sweet and enjoyable read that has likeable characters who develops nicely through the story. Recommendable fun and quick read.
I have really enjoyed this book series and this last book did not disappoint. This is the story about Lewis Knight, who left behind his life as a nobleman. Now he is a scarred man and he will use his bad reputation to help with the earl of redmere smuggling. He is forced to return home and he is accompanied by a women who invades his thoughts. Louisa is very busy and her inn is threatened and she must investigate. Knight feels that he has to protect her. I loved this story and I am sad it is the final book, but at least there is more series by Samantha Holt.
I have so enjoyed these books that I will really miss all the characters. Knight the big, ugly silent guy who has been lusting after Louisa since the start., and thanks to Red's actions they found themselves on a long coach journey together along with a few adventures. No one knew much about Knights background only that he was strong and frightening but Louisa brought out the soft side of him. These characters will stay with me for a long time. I will really miss them.
I had to savour this story of Knight and Louisa. These two had been present and smouldering at the edge of the last 3 stories. I think it was all the very realistic situations and hardships they each experienced in the past that endeared them to me. Sometimes shared journeys in overcoming hardships can be the thing drawing people together. In the end, it made the perfect conclusion to the series with HEA’s experienced by all-but most notably for Knight and Louisa who really really deserve happiness.
He has left his life behind him and he just does things to make money and uses his fists. He never wants to go back home. He then has to go back but he has to take her with him. She has wanted to be with him for so long. What is going to happen between them? Can they make a couple? See what will happen between them

The fourth book in the Rogues of Redmere series it is a well-written story that kept my interest throughout. Knight and Louisa's story has suspense, danger, drama, smuggling, a villain, and romance. I want to read this series again. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Will the last Rogue of Redmere find love? Lewis Knight holds a lot of secrets and is scarred inside and out. Knight is large, scarred, stubborn, scary, and lonely. Although he is attracted to Louisa, he doesn’t believe he is worthy of her. Kind, caring, and tough, Louisa disagrees. When Knight inherits his title and Louisa is challenged for her inn, they travel together (with a little manipulation by the Earl of Redmere) to take care of the situations. Along the way, they try hard to fight their feelings. Can these two overcome the doubts and find their HEA? Maybe.
As with the rest of this series, Knight and Louisa’s story has an interesting cast of characters and a tale full of adventure, intrigue, danger, and romance. Well written and fast paced it is the perfect way to wrap up the Rogue’s story. I recommend the book and the series.
Highly entertaining, sweetly sexy, emotionally thrilling and engaging romantic adventure filled with danger, mystery and lots of scorching hot passion ..... had me hooked.
She is looking to save the inn that has become her entire life and he is looking to get lost on the high seas and forget the past.... loved the witty banter, heart pounding action and exciting journey.
