Hollie Crawford was brought into a wolf pack as a little girl. But as a half-breed, she can’t shift and she was relegated to the lowest rank in the pack. Watching and observing the pack dynamics as an outcast, Hollie instinctively and intuitively knows that something is not quite right with her pack. Things come to a head one night when she is dragged into the forest to be punished for a crime she didn’t commit.
Kyle Anderson doesn’t quite know what is up with his bear. His beast is acting up, becoming increasingly aggressive and angsty of late. When Kyle saves a feisty, curvy redhead from a vicious assault, his bear knows that he has found his mate. He swears he will do everything to keep Hollie safe and heal her wounds. But not all her wounds are visible.
Hollie never really knew what normal was. But Kyle is showing her that a normal life is possible even after everything she’s been through.
Can this peace and happiness really last? Can this strong, protective and incredibly sexy man truly be hers? Or will her past come back with a vengeance to destroy her and those she has grown to love?

I found this author by chance. I was looking for a shifter book and wanted to try something new. Since bears are my favorite to read I found this series and started it.
I am so glad that I did. This is the second book in the series and I will admit each book leaves me wanting more in the series.
I totally loved Kyle and Hollie. He didn't care that she couldn't shift. Never thought bad about her like she wasn't good enough because of it. His bear knew she was his mate and he planned to protector her with everything he had.
You really see what living with her pack has done to Hollis. She's been treated very badly by some really nasty wolves. Before Kyle rescued her my heart was beating. I was so worried about her. I love books that get me involved.
It takes Kyle a bit to prove to Hollis that he's her mate but just when she starts to believe it trouble comes knocking on the door.
This is a fast-paced story that once you start you won't want to stop till the end. It's short enough to read in an afternoon so you have no worries.
I'm so glad that I started this series and will be reading more by Natalie Kristen.
This is an OK shifter romance. Kyle and Hollie are likable, and good together. Kyle even gave Hollie plenty of time to realize he was her mate -- that consideration is fairly rare in shifter romances, where the shifter just expects the non-shifter to fall as fast as they do.
My issue with this book was all the repetition of the characters' inner thoughts. For example, Hollie kept thinking that her pack alpha and beta were corrupt and using each other -- but that got old, when Hollie's thoughts on that were repeated more than once.
Except for the repetition of inner thoughts, and a fairly formulaic shifter plot, this is an entertaining read. It gets 3 stars from me.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
