Strong conclusion
The books of this series the together in this extremely exciting conclusion. The last book has some very dark areas and extremely graphic erotic scenes.

This was a puzzling story for me. While I understood (for the most part) where the author was going with this, I was left feeling a little lost in the end. Was that supposed to be that she would be okay now? That they used her so now she's back in the fold? I'm not sure what to take from this book.
I found the punishment unbecoming and abusive. I think I believe the CIA thoughts on the group and not what they are trying to tell her it is. Total mind blow...total brain washing. Who would think that doing what they did to her and continue to do to others is for the good of the world/country? It is blatant prostitution without her getting anything in return. Was this supposed to be entertaining? I was cringing as I read the story. Granted the author pulled me into the story, but I was turned off by the abusive nature of her imagination regarding her punishment. Regardless of what she did, no one deserves to have multiple men for hours basically raping her as her punishment - even when they said it was rape. So I am reviewing with mixed feelings. Mixed because the author pulled me in almost unwillingly just to see what would happen to her. But I found the ending to be unclear.

Hard to follow
The plot of this thing was too hard to follow and the way the story kept jumping from different prospectives was too much. There was not much of a story line other than lots of humiliation and degradation.

I really enjoyed this book. It's not a romance in the traditional sense, but it is certainly one steamy read. I liked that we got to see more of Maia and Gordon from Book 3, since their story felt unfinished.
There are scenes that skirt the edge of dubious consent, and some extreme punishment scenes, so if you don't enjoy that then this ISN'T the book for you. It can be read as a standalone, there is enough back story given to understand the setting, though having read some of the Institute books or other books in this series would enhance your enjoyment of this.
Katrina is a very conflicted and confused character, at times I felt as though the Pretorian Guard had taken advantage of a very naive and vulnerable girl. However Jay clearly cares for her and takes her well being seriously.
The writing is good, it flowed smoothly and held my attention throughout the story. Whilst this mainly centres around Katrina's punishment there is also a decent suspense element to the plot too.

If you have read any of Ms Tilton's previous "future" books, then you know what to expect. For those that have not, the world is in a bit of a mess (note: dystopia) and sexual punishment and manipulation have become the norm in multiple sectors, both public and private. Which as one might expect, can be quite erotic from a fictional standpoint.
In some ways, Ms Tilton almost does too good a job of writing her stories and developing her setting. The situations and characters seem real and that can cause just a bit of unease at the plight of our heroine in some readers.
That being said, this is fiction and as long as we keep that in mind, the story is awesome, well developed and very steamy. Fans of D/S and punishment should really enjoy the story.
Highly recommended (as fiction).

This is the first book I've read by this author and I thought it was good. It is a standalone story so coming into the series on book four did not pose a problem for understanding. There were some intense sex/punishment scenes which were good. Like I said, overall I thought the story was good, but there was something that kept me from really connecting to the story. I can't put my finger on it though. If the blurb sounds like something you would like, I'd still recommend giving it a chance.

Way too Balanced and Civilised….
Em, I luv your trickling, Such a beautiful trip into submissiveness, the bathroom training absolutely magic. My only want was to share her shame as she developed a more refined taste towards his trickling her throat after having to clean the bathroom with only an orifice and then a reward. This book is hot from beginning to end. I have read the other books in the series, so I knew what I was getting myself into, but I had to hide this one from the fam. No reading over the shoulder from the little ones. The story was exciting, the characters engaging, and the heat level was just right. Emily Tilton is a favorite of mine, and I can't wait for the next book.

This is one of my first audio books and I didn't care for it at all. I think it is too much Sci-Fi for me and listening to the book - I had a hard time following who everyone was. I just got bored and by chapter 7 - I just couldn't listen anymore. Someday if I come across the ebook version of the book I might try it again - but I think I need to stay away from SciFi.

Hot, sexy...this will get you all hot and bothered. Intense punishment scenes. Fast paced and good flow. Seems like the ending just drops though very vague.
