Searing Saviors #2

Set the Night on Fire

Rate this book
Trouble. That’s all I am, and I get into it far too often.

My last misstep took me off Search and Rescue and landed me in a f*cking ambulance.

With a guy that would make the nerds cringe.

If it wasn’t for the cute nurse at the hospital making life interesting, I might give up entirely.

But she’s got my heart racing, my hands sweating, and my mind dipping into the gutter each and every time I see her pretty face.

Her past haunts the hell out of her, but I’m going to help her heal and forget all of that shit. If she lets me.

And she hates my guts. With good reason, of course.

Too bad for her. Once I lock onto something I want, I’m relentless.

The world can burn down around us, but I’m not stopping until I make her mine.

And when I do?

We’re going to set the night on fire. Every night.

Every Good Girl Deserves a Bad Boy. ~ Weston

Hey there. I'm Weston.

Have we met? No? Well it's time to end that tragedy.

I'm a former firefighter/EMS guy who's picked up the proverbial pen and started writing bad boy romance stories. I co-write with my sister, Ali Parker, but live in Texas with my wife, my two little boys, my daughter, two dogs, three cats, and a turtle.

Yep. A turtle. You read that right. Don't be jealous.

You're going to find Billionaires, Bad Boys, Military Guys and loads of sexiness.

Something for everyone, hopefully. I'd love to connect with you. Check out the links below and come find me.

Can’t stop smiling.

This is my first book by Weston. I’ve wanted to read from him for awhile now but always see low ratings and put it off. But then I came across this and I can’t pass up a firefighter/EMT/police. And I wasn’t let down. I loved these two characters. And I can’t wait to read more from the rest of the guys in this series. The epilogue had me smiling like a loon afterwards. It was the perfect ending.

Wow

I liked the book prior to this okay, but it wasn't great, and I wasn't looking forward to Derek's book because he seemed slutty and like a jerk. I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It was much better than the previous in this series. The brotherhood of the fire fighters is perfect. I love love love makeshift families. I liked how Maddox was treated some better in this book. There was some humor, great friendships, and a very sweet love story. I just loved it.

Derek Janson is a firefighter with the Searing Fire Department. He has vowed that he doesn't need love nor will he ever fall in love EVER! He is sent out on a call and treats a patient like chopped liver. That gets him into trouble with his Boss the Chief and put in The Box (The Ambulance) until he can realize that lives matter. Derek is pompous and uncaring and thinks everyone is faking so he will be in there a long time.

Katie Black is a nurse at Searing Hospital and doesn't like or trust firefighters and Derek's pompous attitude doesn't help. Katie's past has a lot to do with her trust issues as well. Katie became a nurse because she likes to help people and is a caring person. She happens to be on shift when Derek brings in someone and what they say about first impressions. Well hers about Derek is spot on he is pompous and rude and a complete douche even I wanted to reach through the book and throttle his little neck he made me so mad. She continues on with her shift and gets the patient checked in and put in a room. She couldn't believe he had the nerve to hit on her while checking a patient in.

Derek really has no sense at all. He hit on a nurse in the middle of admitting a patient. I mean come on use your brain at least wait until the patient is out of ear shot duh lol. He can't figure out why she turned him down flat and fast. Well gee I can. Sometimes men can be so clueless I swear :). Maybe Derek will wake up and get it one day. One day he going home from the fire house and sees a care broken on the road.

Katie is on her way home one day after work when her car breaks down. She pulls over and who should happen to pull up to her rescue? None other then her least favorite firefighter Derek. He offers to take a look at for her to see what's going with it. He offers to take her out to dinner for being such a jerk. Does she accept? Do they acknowledge the growing attraction between or ignore it?

There was just too much angst in this book. The hero was an immature asshole. I DNFed at 45%. I would have done it sooner, but I was hoping it would get better. I really wanted to give Weston Parker a chance, since this was my first book by him. It was just too...flat.

Set The Night On Fire
3 stars
I purchased a copy of the steamy Florida based novel Set The Night On Fire (Searing Saviors Book 2) Derek and Katie by Weston Parker and this review was given freely.
Poignant and steamy, this story has the negative themes of physical abuse, youth delinquency and broken families as well as the theme of PTSD but ends happily.
When Hayden's Search and Rescue partner and relationship phobic best friend, the arrogant at times crass playboy bachelor Derek Janson is sentenced to the ambulance/box crew with the quiet PTSD suffering ex- marine Allen Yellich for sensitivity training, he meets the abuse survivor and ER nurse Kelly Black who challenges all his belief.
A good story but the questionable professionalism of some unguarded speeches may be found offensive.

Turn Up The Heat
4 stars
I purchased a copy of the highly steamy Florida based novel Turn Up The Heat (Searing Saviors Book 3) Allen and Brea by Weston Parker and this review was given freely.
On the same day introverted PTSD suffering ex- marine and Searing firefighter/paramedic and ambulance/Box driver, Allen Yellich freezes during a call, there is a water leak at the station which floods the adjoining art gallery owned by cynical struggling bachelorette Brea and sets into action a chain of reactions resulting in many highly steamy and acrobatic scenes, scenes from the gallery renovation, and some frank Therapy sessions depicting vivid dreams and battle scene.
A good story but high quantity of steamy scenes.

Ignite The Spark Between Us (Searing Saviors Book 4)
4 stars
I purchased a copy of the sweet to mildly steamy Florida based novel Ignite The Spark Between Us (Searing Saviors Book 4) Mav and Allie by Weston Parker and this review was given freely.
A well rounded story containing a mainly clean virgin romance with a touch of steam, a generally thoughtful and all around good guy and loving father,a loving but interfering grandmother and Allie's unfiltered best friend Candice. Single parent Mav Cantone struggles to juggle his firefighting job and being a single father with the help of his live in grandmother until he is offered a promotion, his daughter Olivette starts kindergarten,he finds himself attracted to the kindergarten teacher Allie, and his grandmother begins talking of moving to a retirement community.

Derek Janson is a firefighter on the Search and Rescue team with Hayden from book one, who has vowed to never fall in love. Katie Black is a nurse who works at Searing Hospital where she runs into Derek one night while he’s working off his punishment of working in an ambulance instead of with his team. When Derek tries to use his charm instead of his brain, he hits on Katie - while in the middle of dropping off a patient no less, Katie begins to believe her opinions of firefighters being jerks. Derek, on the other hand, can’t believe Katie turned him down and when he offers to help a stranded motorist later that night, imagine his surprise to find Katie. Taking a second chance, he offers to take Katie to dinner, but will she be able to put aside her trust issues and go with him? Will Derek be able to tame his arrogant ways and be the man that Katie needs?

This book will set your night on fire

Katie, an ER nurse, has a heated introduction to Derek, a firefighter and medic, when he comes in with a patient. As the story progresses first impressions are changed, pasts come back to haunt them and they must decide if a future with each other is what they want. As with other Weston Parker books, Set the Night On Fire is filled with bad boys, damaged yet strong girls and a happily ever after. His characters are true to life and often deal with hard situations, this book will set your night on fire.

I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

Absolutely Yummy~

Somehow I have had this Weston Parker gem in my Kindle Unlimited Library since October 2018. Once I started reading it I was hooked on the storyline, the characters and their friends and family. He’s a cocky firefighter with a past. She’s a nurse with such a damaged look on love. When he comes barreling his way into the hospital and her heart, you can’t help but fall in love with him and her. Along the way there’s plenty of hot, sexual chemistry, misunderstanding, lust and finally love. As with all Weston Parker’s book, this one is sure to make your toes curl when the romance heats up.

Since early in my career I worked in an Emergency Dept. and knew lots of paramedics, I found this book very entertaining, as it brought back some fun memories. Derek is an arrogant firefighter that loves his work on the Search and Rescue Team, until he is pulled to work "the box"--ambulance duty. The only thing that made his new position tolerable is the sexy and sweet nurse, Katie. Katie is not impressed with Derek. He really is "a tool". His insensitivity bugs Katie, but when he comes to her rescue one evening, she sees a different more charming side of of this sexy firefighter. These two experience some unexpected challenges, that kept the story line moving.

Wow i didn't want this book to end.
You did it again Weston. Another brilliant book.
An amazing storyline that had me hooked from the beginning.
Absolutely loved the characters and their connections. Adored Katie and Derek. Loved Emily and all the guys at the Station too.
The characters made a heartwarming story and made it believable.
Loved the first book. Loved this book. Can't wait until next book to see who's story it's going to be.
Well done again Weston.

I was skeptical about romances written by a man...

Not trying to be bad about it, but when I found he wrote with his sister it got easier to believe. The books ate amazing! This the second one I have read today, and I just bought the third.
I rarely buy books, I normally go for the free ones, because I read so fast. I am also a copy editor and proofreader, so I read for a living. So, there's that.
Keep up the good work!

This book really spoke to me. I was another woman who abused both as a child and as an adult and I love it when the woman can get herself out of the situation. Katie was strong, but she was letting that color her relationships and I was so happy when she gave Derek a chance. He was such an awesome guy. Hard worker, a bit arrogant, but worked thru it. You need to read this book.

Hot, Sweet and Sexy Firefighters

Derek and Katie didn’t hit it off in the beginning but once they finally connected, it was smoldering. There were many ups and downs and an emotional roller coaster ride to get to their HEA. Love this crew of firefighters and hope they will each have their own story.

Jaded feelings change

This is a bittersweet love story that had a rocky start.
Katie and Derek were opposites in many ways but, had tragedies in their lives. They were a hot couple. I loved the closeness of the Chief and the chew, they had each other’s backs. I would love to read the rest of the firemen find their true loves too. I highly recommend this series.

Fun, sweet, entertaining

I really liked Katie and Derek's story. It was really great. The romance and characters were great. I couldn't put it down. I had some issues with Derek being a jerk at first. Thats not how I remembered him.
And as smart as Katie was. She was wishy washy at times: all in all a great ending. Cant wait for allens book.

Caring for Derek

Another wonderful book about the brave firefighters of Searing. Derek and Katie each had past issues and hurts which made a relationship tricky, among things going on in the community. There was a rocky road to an HEA for this special couple, but each step was worth it. Don’t miss this book or this series!

This was the perfect novel. From the beginning I was rooting for Derek and Katie. She needed someone to take her out of her box, and he needed someone to calm his restlessness.

Katie and Derek’s story was definitely an uphill battle. The past hurts and trauma almost cause them not to take a chance. I hope there is more stories from these guys at the fire house.

I love this series! Katie and Derek both had issues, but I love it when the issues are brought to light and didn’t drag on. Looking forward to reading the rest, especially Allen’s.

Oh boy!  Derek is a jackass - not what you'd expect from the hero in a novel by Weston Parker.  Derek is arrogant, insensitive and really needs to think before engaging in mouth!  He is a firefighter who should be careful and treat with caution, but he doesn't in his work and he ends up in trouble with his boss, the Chief.  So he is relegated to The Box - or rather the ambulance with Allen.  He is so mad and doesn't totally understand what was wrong.  His empathy for patients really needs to be worked on as can be seen when he first meets nurse Katie.  Now Katie has trust issues with men because of her father and ex so she is so not impressed by Derek and rejects his advances which completely puzzlers him.  But he sees Katie as a challenge and one that he is going to win.  I confess, as you can probably tell, that I didn't really like Derek at the beginning of this book but this is beautifully written by the best selling author, Weston Parker, so the hero HAS TO change. And indeed he does - thank Heaven!  Enjoy seeing his transformation from idiot and unsympathetic jerk to a real hero in the best of worlds.  Katie is a part of his metamorphosis and one that is a joy to read.  Great depth of descriptions that make the characters 'come alive' and the story so realistic and believable.  From wanting to wring Derek's neck to loving him towards the end of the book seemed impossible at first but Weston is a very creative writer and transports you to His Worlds that we all want to visit on a regular basis.  I'm really looking forward to re-reading this in the future as it was so good and also for Weston's next romantic adventure for us. I received a reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here.

Most Definitely Recommended - get your copy now and ENJOY!
