A girl with a painful past
A warrior with a Dark Half—the Drake locked inside him.
When they come together and the Drake freed,
Will it draw them closer together…
Or kill them both?

Back in high school, Annie Michaels was an outcast. Too short and plump with frizzy red hair, glasses, and braces, she was the poster child for unpopular. But now, ten years later, things have changed. Annie is still plus-sized but she’s ditched the glasses and braces and pays to have her hair straightened. She just wants to go to her high school reunion in peace and try to hook up with her old crush—the elusive Christian Wentworth.
Too bad a tall, dark Kindred warrior has other ideas for her.

Drugair of the Drake Kindred is annoyed when he starts Dream-Sharing with the luscious little redhead. He doesn’t have time to call a bride and besides, as a member of the Kindred Elite Espionage Corps, his job is too difficult and dangerous to complicate matters with a helpless Earth female. It also doesn’t help that he has a Darker Side—the Drake who lives inside him wants to claim Annie as theirs but Dru does everything he can to suppress it’s fiery desires. He tries to ignore the dreams and finds he can’t…he has to go to Annie.

But just because she’s been dreaming of Dru doesn’t mean Annie’s willing to drop everything and be his bride. It’s only after he rescues her from the reunion gone wrong that she begins to feel for him—enough that she stows away on his ship and gets caught up in his latest mission, tracking a terrorist to the Shadow Palace in the Maw Cluster millions of light years away.

While in the Shadow Palace, Annie has to pose as Dru’s x’aan-chow or “sex pet.” This new twist in their relationship brings them closer together but when Annie is threatened, Dru’s Darker Half takes over. When the Drake comes out, will it bring them closer together? Or will they both die as a result?
You’ll have to read Releasing the Dragon to find out…

Main characters: Drugair & Annie Michaels
Type of Kindred: Drake (dragon)

Annie lately has two major things that disarray her life
1. She needs to prepare for her high school reunion party. Great timing! Because now she can finally meet her tormentors from her high school years without being bullied. Now she is pretty, successful, confident. She can go there and meet again with her high school crush, Christian, and she can finally tell him how she feels about him.
2. She dream-shares with a Kindred warrior. Bad timing! Because no matter how much she would love visiting the Mother Ship, she would never go there as a bride. Especially now that she can claim Christian.

Drugair on the other hand never wanted a bride. As a member of the Kindred Elite Espionage Corps, his work is too dangerous and too time consuming to be interested in mating and spending time with a girl. So when he dream-shares with Annie, he is mostly annoyed and less enthusiastic. As a result, he decides to visit Annie, maybe kiss her hand and explain with simple words that they can never be together.

Much to his surprise, he is rejected straight away by Annie who rushes to her party. Thankfully Drugair follows her and saves her from her abusive ex fellow students who are still abusers and from a serial killer.

Annie will visit Mother Ship, will go for an adventure far far away in space, will try to prevent an attack to Mother Ship, will make new true friends and will have her pet dragon to play eventually :)

Another awesome addition to the Kindred Tales erotica sci-fi series!

Releasing the Dragon by Evangeline Anderson is number 22.6 Brides of the Kindred and number 11 in the Kindred Tales. This is the story of Drugair and Annie. This can be a standalone book.
I was excited to read this book since I am a fan of Ms. Anderson writing. I enjoyed the interactions between Dru and Annie. Both had things they needed to get over to move forward.
Look forward to more books by Ms. Anderson.

To be honest, the book in this series has been a little formulaic lately. I feel like to read ANY of book this series you would have to not take anything too seriously. Though, for this one in particular, I would suggest you stay away from it if lactating kink scares you!

As usual this was a enjoyable and entertaining read. Plenty of intrigue, suspense, action, and of course steamy romance to keep you hooked from beginning to end. I for once like the female heroine Annie she was sassy and fierce. What I didn't like was that she so concerned about what other though of her. I loved how Drugair (Dru) came for all of them it was hilarious. Can we also talks about the sneak peeks at the end OMG I can't wait to see how everything is going to play out. I received a free copy via Booksprout I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.

Good read

Good read. There was one area of this story that was very annoying and that was the initial attitude of the bride. I understand having spunk, but there has got to be a line between spunk and stupidity. Fortunately the silly outspokenness didn’t last the whole book, but it really did bother me.

The bride got herself into a sticky situation, promised to do whatever it took to make the situation right, and then completely forgot her promise when it was time to actually deliver on that. So stupid.... Anyway, other than that it was a good story line and so far I like the villain. Overall good read.

Some thirty something books later this is still one of my favourite guilty pleasure series. Amazing how Evangeline Anderson still thinks up different naughty scenarios for these smexy warriors and their Brides.... but somehow keeping it all respectful and fun. May she write another thirty more.

I like how we got to see the warring sides of Dru and his Drake coming through. He was definitely a Kindred through and through but was also fighting his own nature. Anderson has deftly woven in some interesting new potential story lines that I hope she will write about. I am really enjoying her writing style overall, good plots with the erotic nature thrown in. i also really like how she goes back to previous characters and continues to elaborate on their stories throughout the series.

Annie and Dru were made for each other. The chemistry between these two was explosive. Dru is a dragon kindred I love that in evangeline kindred world is not limited but is full of adventure love and happy ending. I really enjoyed this edition to this series. I can't wait for the next book.

I liked the read. It was fun. Not terribly realistic, but fun. I don't mean the aliens. First, old high school crush turns serial killer and you don't phone the police to save other women? Second, your guy says he has to go to a dangerous place incognito on a dangerous mission and so you sneak on board to join said dangerous mission with no information or, I don't know, training?! Seriously, too stupid to live. Third, wow did the heroine suddenly go from I don't want to mate this guy to love so fast I got whiplash. Lastly, the Drake being not being released for any reason despite being a part of him, though kinda felt like our hero had multiple personalities. Now, mostly this is erotica so I dont expect an amazing plot. It's a fun erotic read. But don't expect excellent plots.

Evangeline Anderson - Releasing the Dragon

Another great addition to the Kindred Tales series. It’s full of wonderful characters and we get to hang out with some of our original favorites as well as meet new ones that are sure to be interesting in their own books to come.
The main characters as in many of these books have had a rough time growing up especially as a teen, but they have worked hard to overcome these hurdles. Annie has had it rough and our hearts break for the bullying she had to endure as a red headed plump teen full of freckles (I love how the Kindred consider the freckles “Goddess Kisses”.
Drugair (Dru)is a new Kindred species we are meeting. Few are allowed on the mothership as they are Dragon Shifters and considered a possible danger. Dru has worked hard to keep his poor Drake from coming out, it is considered a major disgrace in his culture. His ability to control his Drake has scored him a high position as an undercover agent for the Mother Ship.
Dru and Annie have of course been dreamsharing and as hard as it is to stay away Dru finds he must meet his true mate. He is determined not to claim her though due to his dangerous job and his dragon (who turns out to be very wonderful).
The story takes them on a dangerous mission, some new worlds and cultures. Some of the situations we have seen in previous stories but are seriously great material and work well with the plot (I know some readers have criticized this I find they are consistent with the worlds the author has so skillfully built). This book is ten flames 🔥 of hot. The plot is an exciting page turner, long enough to get lost in but short enough to read in one sitting (ok it was an all night sitting).
In addition the story weaves in an over all plot that skillfully weaves in and introduces us to some awesome sounding characters and plot lines of up coming (hopefully soon) books.

What an amazing story. I just love this type of Kindred. This was a little different the the one we had read in the past. I just loved this story.

Drugair was what was called a Drake Kindred. He was different then the other Drugair Kindred we read about in the past. He was one that was in control of his Drake. He never let it out. The Drake Kindred had like this beast that lives inside them. It is different then another kindred for it is like 2 souls living inside one body.

Drugair was a Kindred that had a lot of pride and lived for his job that he done for the Kindreds. He put the needs of his work over his own personal needs and this could cost him more then he is willing to give.

I loved Annie. She was more of a geeky girl. She had a past that was so painful but looking at what she became in her life show how strong of a woman she really was. She is chasing a dream she should not be chasing when it comes to her past though. It is very dangerous.

I love how well fit Drugair and Annie was. She was not scared of him and willing to speak her mind and put him in his place.

This story is full of danger, passion, and some pretty hot moments. Loved it and glad I got a chance to read it.

I love love love this book. I wish it would've been longer! I read it in one night... sooo soo good. Love Annie's character and how she has blossomed into a confident and successful woman even after the bullying she endured during high school. Loved Dru too... it was so funny how thrown off he was by Annie's personality and interaction at first with him. Definitely did not see the plot twist coming at all and glad Dru was there to save her. I wish that they would've had more time during their mission but I still loved the story. I really loved their ending and especially loved the connection Annie forms with Dru'd Drake. I am sooo excited for the next stories from the cliffhangers at the end of the book. Can't wait to read Kayla, Bron & Sorin's story and how that will work out. I hope to see a story soon for Lizabeth and Lone. I love that both of those are gonna be new aspects of the kindred world we haven't seen before and hope they work out in the end. I also hope that Zar'ren gets his own story and that he is just a misguided villain that just needs his mate to show him the correct path. As always love the kindred stories and can't wait for more!!!

I thought this book was a light, pleasant read. The characters were fun and with Drugair having an inner drake that he needed to control, it was fun to see how the two parts of himself interacted with Annie. This story has a little pet play with ears and tails, which I thought was fun and different. Keep an eye out for what the drake does when Drugair hugs her (I love the imagery!)

There were interesting, new characters introduced in this story. The creativity of other aliens and world-building made this story very enjoyable and refreshing.

I thought the characters fell in love too quickly and it took away some of the plausibility of the story for me, which is the reason I rated this book 4 stars. This whole series kind of fast-forwards when it comes to feelings but this book went even faster so I thought it a bit unbelievable.

Other than that, I still enjoy this series for light reading. I have read this series completely out of order so the book that comes after this one is the first one I read and it's fun to see how everything worked out. It will be even more fun to go and re-read Sharing A Mate (Kindred Tales #12) again with this backstory.

"A high school reunion goes horribly wrong" is such an understatement! Annie is so caught up in her life and Drugair is seemingly obsessed with his missions that both feel they don't have the time or inclination for each other. Oh, how wrong they are! Although I've read every one of the Brides of the Kindred as well as the Tales, this one grabbed me and just wouldn't let go. "Page-turner" never meant more to me than with this one. Evangeline Anderson has again created a new part of her Kindred world--angst,pain,even fear offset the steam, protectiveness, and blossoming love. Plus, in the ending chapters she lets us visit with some of my favorite characters once again and introduces us to characters that hint of future Kindred books that I can't wait to read! A great story, a new Kindred type, and a problem that could continue well into the future!Releasing the Dragon

>Book review – Releasing the Dragon
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 11th book in the Kindred Tales series and ends with an HEA. Dru is a Drake Kindred dream sharing with a human. Annie is the human dream sharing with Dru. She goes to her high school reunion to try and show all of the bullies that she has grown up and isn’t going to take their abuse anymore. She also wants a chance to flirt with her high school crush. Dru finds Annie and saves her at the reunion. She is injured, so she takes her to the Mother Ship where she stows aboard his ship while he goes on an undercover mission.
>The plot in this book is simple, but important. Dru learns to accept and love his drake, while also learning to love and accept Annie. Annie’s backstory is so typical, yet sad with the bullying she had to and still has to endure. The undercover operation was both sexy and fun. I also love the glimpses of previous Kindred characters.
> This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. There are too many previews in this story that set up future stories.

Enjoyable and loved that this one had a Kindred that could turn into a dragon. This book will keep you on the end of your seat waiting to see how things will work out. We have Annie who wants to reconnect with an old crush from high school, but along the way finds she is dream sharing with Dru. She has no desire to deal with a Kindred claiming her and it turns out that Dru doesn't want to do any claiming. To their dismay, they are still thrown together after things go wrong at Annie's high school reunion. The two find themselves on a secret Kindred mission as Dru is a secret agent of sorts and Annie sneaks herself onto his ship when he leaves. They may just survive this adventure and with luck they may just come together and find the love that they both want in their lives. Exciting Drake Kindred story!!

Drugair has a dangerous job and a beast living within. When he starts dreaming of a red-haired beauty he does not want to give in to the call to claim his mate. Annie is preparing to redeem herself at a 15th high school reunion. While still not svelte she has improved her looks to the point most do not even recognize her and has a great career as a video game designer. When her new appearance suddenly puts her in danger Dru is there to save her, and brings her to the Mother ship for treatment.

A story of espionage, fate and being accepted for who you are. If you like Kindred stories you will especially enjoy this one!!

Dru is definitely one of my favorites now....well, guess I should say his Drake is. Dru’s reactions to the dreamsharing really stinks to high heaven, but his reactions to her from the beginning is sweet and somewhat understandable. You cannot help how you’re raised and with him, his Drake is suppose to be a bad thing in his life, but is shown quickly what he expects isn’t what he’s been taught all his life. Annie is a warrior in her own right and doesn’t let anything stop her. She’s already been through a lot and her old crush causes her more heartache, but is put in his place quickly....in more ways than one. I love the Kindred, but this Drake is fantastic and I hope to see more of them!

As I have stated in the past, the Kindred Tales are usually hit or miss for me. This one I view as a hit. I understand Dru not wanting to call his mate as his job is very dangerous and with his drake being a wild card, he won't endanger a helpless Earth female. Annie is a remarkable and self-reliant woman but circumstances throw her and Dru together. Dru's drake almost had me crying but I hope Annie convinces Dru to change his mind about his drake.

Well written with a paging turning story, I read this in one sitting. I can't wait to see what happens next. I really want to see more of Dru's drake. Will Bron, Kayala, and Sorin be successful? What's the deal with Zar'ren? When will we see the volt Kindred again? Anxiously awaiting the next book

Wow, Wow Wow!

Just when you think you have met all the types of Kindred, we get introduced to the Drake Kindred!!

I love our standard Kindred Species, but I LOVE when we can meet Kindred who have inner beasts or abilities.

This is the story of Drugair and Annie. Both have major insecurities and flaws. Both were made for each other! I related to this story quite closely. I love how the author has portrayed that you don't have to be anything but yourself to be loved.

I especially loved some of the naughty scenes in this book ...!
And the ending was most unexpected, but brought the book together quite nicely.

After reading more than 30 of the Kindred books and tales, I am still hooked!

This book was a bit different than the others, instead of the woman not knowing if she wants to bond with her kindred, thinking it's all going too fast, and basically not ready to accept the facts.....it's the male!!! Dru did not think that he should bond with Annie because of his other half and his dangerous job. Well, Annie was not going to accept that!! Se was a trooper and tried her best to make Dru see that they were perfect for each other. But.....there's always the awesome drama to the story that I won't spoil. It was awesome and I loved every minute.

I came across this author some time back when I started reading The Alien Mate Index. It is part of this series and comes before. What caught my attention, besides never reading alien romance, is the author writes about fuller figured women. But, these women are still gorgeous. No blemishes, no love handles, yes sometimes glasses but otherwise bigger boobs, hips, butts. Yes, this is fantasy but is it just me, don't you want to relate? The women in this author's books are looking for acceptance and a way to relate.
I will say this author has a way of pulling you in and keeping the story going. She keeps you coming back for more.

I don't know why, but I can't seem to go 5 days without reading another Kindred novel! EA's books are crack.

Releasing the Dragon was short but enjoyable! Annie was sassy and brave, whereas I didn't get as a good sense of Dru's personality. I almost wrote how he was bland, but with his Drake, he really wasn't.

I wish the scene where Annie rode Dru's Drake (Dragon) was included in the novel; that would have been such a good bonus scene.

Also, I'm not sure why, but I knew before I even started the book that .

It's almost 2 am, so forgive the short review.

I loved this story of the feisty Annie and the mysterious Drake Kindred, Drugair. I think I liked his dragon side even more than his “man” side! Ms. Anderson’s descriptions of the Drake made him seem like a really big and protective puppy! I also love the shorter length of these stories and as always, the connection between the two main characters is awesome. I liked that Annie took matters into her own hands when Dru was keeping her at arms length and Christian? Well, he deserved everything he got!

Mmm Drake Kindred...

I just read this book in one sitting. I fell head over heels for Annie and Drugair. Annie is a redhead with lots of freckles and is also plus-sized... absolutely gorgeous but suffers from self esteem issues from being bullied as a young high school student. She and Dru are dream sharing for about 3 mos before he shows up on her doorstep.... Annie gets into some trouble later that night at her high school reunion and Dru rescues her.... The adventure is just beginning... fasten your seatbelts and come for a ride with Dru and Annie. You wont regret it!!

Loved it, mostly.

I love the way the main story went down, but all the sub-stories that it hinted to, really kicked up the level of my love for it even higher. Fantastic. I always love all the unique traits and surprises to each new character and storyline. It never boring.

I gave if 4 stars because I felt it was unfinished. I was fully anticipating their date with the sky. I mean, he’s a dragon in looks and function. So, not getting to experience that left me a little let down, and made me feel like we readers kind of lost out on something special.

Who doesn’t love a dragon

I don’t know how she manages it, but each of these books seems to be better than the last. I truly enjoyed this one! Annie had overcome her childhood bullying and then she met Dru and I really thought his rejection would set her back no matter how noble his reasons were. But she proved what a strong, courageous woman when she went after what she wanted. I was so happy that these two, or is it really three, achieved their HEA. I can’t wait to read the next book and see what happens to the Kindred and their mates.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The sexual tension between Drake Kindred Drugair and Annie Michaels has been growing since they started dream sharing. Annie wants a relationship, but Drugair does not want to be mated because he has a darker side that he doesn't think he can control if he is mated. There's plenty of action, drama and suspense as Dru and Annie embark on a secret mission. As expected with an Evangeline Anderson book, this story is engrossing, entertaining and a pleasure to read.

Game designer gets inspiration

I can relate to wanting to show off at the high school reunion, although I fortunately did not have any truly mean girls picking on me.
I liked that she showed new worlds and creatures, as well as catching up with a couple more.
My main quibble is that the bad guy on earth was not handled immediately, as in calling the cops, which could have been done from the ship.
