A maze of death. A town gripped by fear. The Plague Doctors return with a new prescription for terror. After surviving a disaster at sea, Med student Annabel and her sister Jezebel were shipwrecked on a desolate island haunted by the Plague Doctors. These sinister ghosts have spread a supernatural infection through the island's inhabitants, and they intend to make the two sisters their next patients. Escaping the horrific Doctors’ ghost town, the two sisters flee to a nearby village, desperate to find a hospital and medical attention. But they soon discover the entire island is under the thrall of the vicious Plague Doctors. An attack by one of creature’s undead minions throws the small town into chaos. Annabel and her sister find themselves captured in a vast hedge maze growing wild on the island. Injured, terrified, and separated, the two sisters are hopelessly lost in the overgrown labyrinth. Every step they take could be their last. The maze is a trap, designed to contain the infected victims of the malevolent spirits. And the Plague Doctors are stalking them through every twist and turn, eager to treat these new patients with a terminal dose of pain and fear. Annabel and Jezebel must work together to solve the riddle of the maze, and escape the villager’s trap. Or else the Plague Doctors will claim two new souls for their unholy experiments.
This is the creepiest, goriest book I've read in a long time and I say that with all the love lol. I loved reading this, it was so captivating and scary. I held my breath during intense moments, worried for the characters, and cheered for them when they got away from the monsters stalking them. I got so sucked in and didn't want to stop reading, because I needed to know if Annabel, Jezebel, and Henry would make it out alive. I'm excited to finish the trilogy and see what happens!
Pocket of Posies follows the child's rhyme and is the second book of the Plague series written by Sara Clancy. The plot "thickens" and things really heat up in this second book. Btw, these books should be read in order since they really build upon each other and are a series that is a full story in my eyes. The plot follows a logical order in my eyes that now sets on getting out of the village and finding help. Of course that help might not be what they think it is.
Going from one bad situation into the next is it better? The 2 sisters and their friend Henry who is the best help they could wish for and has been very important in book one and continues to be a huge help struggle to figure out the ins and out of this new village and try and find the help they truly need. I for one am curious to see how this will all end in book three.
