The Elementals consist of 4 women who represent Water, Fire, Air and Earth. They come with the gifts of the elements and help keep the balance of good and evil in the world. In each book, these women have a case to solve.

For the water elemental, Serin is hunting down the person responsible for stealing some magical artifacts. By doing this, she has caught the attention of Agent Daniel Romero. For a human, Daniel seems to be able to do things humans can't. One look at Serin and Daniel is obsessed with her and finding out who she really is.

This was fantastic! The more I read in this series the more I'm loving the books. This is a fun group of people with exciting plots in each book. Each book focuses on one elemental and their true mate. We got a glimpse into the next book with Gia, the earth elemental and I can not wait! ARC provided by author.

I’ve really enjoyed the previous books in this series but I absolutely loved everything about this one!
This story starts off pretty quickly and it never slows down. Everything is moving forward and while the plot is moving toward a final point, each stop along the way is new and exciting. Nothing was redundant, I never skimmed and once I started I couldn’t stop.

I have to admit Serin hasn’t been one of my favorites of the Elementals but then I didn’t really know her. This is her story and I loved that despite her awesome powers and abilities, she was also vulnerable. I love a strong heroine but I especially enjoy one I am able to connect with. Once the hero, Daniel, enters her life she remained the fierce woman she is but I never felt like she was cruel or uncaring as she’s trying to drive him away.

Despite the hard edged drama and the dark magic involved in this story, there was also plenty of humor and moments of lightheartedness. I will never forget Loki and his crazy antics and actually loved watching his own evolution as this story unfolds.

The romance takes a back seat but there was never any question that Daniel was involved more out of personal reasoning than professional as he chases after Serin. You won’t want to read this for the steam level as there isn’t any. But it’s still a heck of a read! The pace is very fast although this isn’t necessarily a short book. And the last 25% of the book felt like it was pure adrenalin fed action. There were a few twists, some I saw, some I did not and the ending sets us up for the next book which should be Earth. I cannot freaking wait!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Water kicked ass! Well, Serin's adventure was getting on the even darker side of the cases.
Lots of action, snooping and investigating than Fire and Air and with a lot more side characters that are very interesting like Noomi and Loki whom pretty much almost steal the show. The twist was nice but somehow I saw the sign almost from the beginning but then again I'm the 3rd person here who can see all angles. This book is almost surpassed Air and Fire in sleuth and action but very little romance and chemistry....yeah so just 4 stars.

Absolutely loved this story of Serin the Water elemental. She is the Queen Bee of all badassery working with her sisters to protect us mere human but this time it's about to get real. Now with relics missing and the realization that their safe haven has been not only penetrated and plundered with many dangerous artifacts missing. In the meantime there's Daniel who is like a dog with a bone urging him to find out who she is. There is a ton going on and it's a whole lot more than they ever imagines. Ms Gilbert does not disappoint with this story. We get the elements and magic and betrayal and mates, supernaturals against humans, supernaturals against supernaturals it's a shit storm and we are along for the ride. I love how it incorporates all of the elementals and their mates and no chance to catch your breath. This author mixes it up well and takes us on a roaring adventure with the master of Water and all it incorporates.

It feels like it’s been ages since I was last immersed in this world. So long, in fact, I’d almost forgotten how much I was missing it. This story was such a skillful marriage of urban fantasy with police procedural. It kicks off with a bang and never slows down. I think Daniel is going to be a very valuable addition to this group of unlikely heroes. From his training as a DEA agent to his unexpected heritage, he brings to the table some things Serin and her sisters haven’t had access to before. And the chemistry between these two created sparks I feared would short out my reader. There is just so much happening in this book, and it starts to explain even more about what we’ve already seen in the previous books. The ending now leaves me champing at the bit to get my hands on the next book in the series. On a side note, I adored the quiet little reference tying in one of the author’s other series. Just like all those pop-culture references in the earlier books, it tickled the fancy of my inner nerd-girl.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

The Elementals Book Series consists of four females who represent the elements Air, Earth, Fire, and Water. Each book represents a element & they come with the gifts of the elements & help balance the good & evil in the world. This one is the Water Element & follows Serin as she seeks justice and answers for her mate's mysterious disappearance.
I absolutely loved this book and it is my favourite in this series so far. This novel is a fast paced dynamic read with a few unexpected twists. With well detailed world building descriptions and details. Brimming with dark magic and action packed moments. A bit of lighthearted humor thrown into the mix. Characters are compelling and resilient. Told in first person dual POV which is my favourite. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series which is Gia's about the earth elemental.

Takes care of big plot points

There is a lot going on in the world of the Elementals as they finally close in on the mastermind behind all the Superbad magic. The story is well plotted. We get to see cameos of the other Elementals & their partners, and some secondary characters get a chance to shine.
I was kind of disappointed with Serin & Daniel’s relationship though. They didn’t get much time to be together, so we could see their chemistry. They got to the business knowing they were meant-to-be without much emotional build up.
There is a sweet little teaser at the end for the start of Gia’s story.

This is a fast-paced read with loads of drama and suspense that grips you from beginning to end. Serin is the water elemental and seeking justice and answers for her mate’s disappearance. Daniel is a DEA agent who will give her and her sisters some unexpected help in finding the truth. Serin feels a connection to Daniel but will she keep her distance? Entertaining read with great characters. I really liked it.

Excellent story keeps momentum

Book three was a pretty good representation of what someone clueless about their world would probably react like. I didn't like Serin that much.... certainly not like Diana and Logan, but she was ok. Daniel was ok... especially once we got past his issues. The best part of this book was the overall story progression. Finding out who the big bad is, THAT was what made this book. Fast paced, easy to read. Now to wait months for Earth!

Water by L. B. Gilbert is book 3 in The Elementals series, a paranormal romance/suspense that follows book 1 (Fire) and 2 (Air), not recommended as a standalone.
Serin as Water is a fantastic character and so is agent Daniel and when their paths cross it makes for a great and engaging story.
There were some awesome spots of tension and revelations and the series has taken an interesting turn. I’m looking forward to seeing how it proceeds from here.

Water, Water Everywhere

Serin, the Water Elemental, dispenses justice to those who use the supernatural for nefarious purposes. Her bonded has died, so why is she feeling this connection to a human DEA agent? Danger ensues as things get more complicated and troubling for the Elementals. I like the action, humor, and romance. I look forward to the next book.

More excitement

The storyline is more complex and revealing in this book. I enjoyed reading this one more because of the action and everything learned in this one. Serin and Daniel have an uphill battle with their relationship because Daniel believes Serin is a criminal. They're actually third in place as my favorite couple too.

An awesome third book in this fabulous series. Serin is on the hunt to find out about her mate’s mysterious disappearance. She is fantastic, a no survivors type of girl in stilettos. Can’t help but love her.

I didn't like this one as much. I felt like the relationship was forced, no romance. The story was good, although predictable. Still I am going to read the fourth book because I like Gia already. Emotionally I just didn't connect with Serin.

2.5

The story progression was great as were all of the characters. However, the chemistry between Serin and Daniel had no depth. Both were well written and I even like the idea of them together but it just did not come through.

Excellent book, 3rd on series and not just a...this is THIS character's story. It mingles the others too and leaves a hanger for the 4th book, which is, of course, Earth 🌎 !

2.5 stars.

I enjoyed the continuation of the overarching plot, the lack of intimate scenes, and even the teaser at the end of this book for the next installment of the series. However, there was next to no development in the romance department and I'm still asking the question: What is the H?

still a nice story, but not like the previous ones. The characters and dialogue is still great, but the storyline is more fragmented with a lot of loose ends.
