Another really good book from Claire Thompson. But when have I not liked a Claire Thompson book, you ask. Not lately, certainly. I am particularly fond of the BDSM Connections series. The romance is excellent, the characterizations solid, and people from previous books show up again, creating a sense of community. Each book stands easily alone, but together, they are more than the sum of their parts.

Here we have Ruby and Evan. Neither one is interested in settling down or committing, but they are powerfully drawn to one another and their friends seem interested in a bit of casual matchmaking. As usual, the BDSM is superior in its execution and the the romance is wonderful.

This was an excellent, well-written, inspiring story and one I thoroughly enjoyed reading. It tells how a group of friends, all in the BDSM Lifestyle, can see what Ruby and Evan can’t; their love for one another. All of them knew real love when they saw it because they too had had their own issues getting there. This is certainly a book I would have no hesitation in recommending.

It was at a small arts college in Boston over a decade ago that Allie and Ruby first met and became friends; both had a passion for art and a love of the BDSM Lifestyle. Ruby is in Portland for a 2-weeks stay and agrees to help Allie get her vendor booth organised for the upcoming grand opening of the BDSM Connections Event Centre. Allie wonders if Ruby will ever stay put; maybe she would if she had a reason. Evan is a BDSM Event Coordinator, who organises BDSM Conventions and Events all over the world; he is also a wanderer. Evan is popular, very down to earth and a stand-up man, who certainly knows his way around a dungeon. Ruby loves the intensity of a BDSM exchange of power, along with the excitement and unpredictability of new places, new people, new Masters. Working in the BDSM scene, Evan meets lots of female submissives and sexual masochists, many of them ready and eager for casual play. Rarely spending more than a month in any one location, Evan always makes it clear at the outset he is only passing through and whatever they share is finite by definition. When Ruby volunteers for Evan’s whipping demonstration, she distracts him; something in her gaze both thrills and slightly unnerves him. This clearly was not a woman swayed by what others did or expected. Intrigued, Evan silently promises himself to get to know Ruby better during his brief stay in Portland. A marvelous character-centered story that left this reader feeling empowered and ready to travel!
Claire Thompson’s newest addition to indie romance, “THE GYPSY AND THE ROGUE,” is one of the best books I’ve read this year! The main characters, Evan and Ruby were a more mature couple who meet as part of a group of vendors preparing for the opening of a new BDSM convention project in Portland. When they meet, there is this fabulous attraction between them. It’s so apparent that everyone who is around them can see it, and they’re mature enough to recognize it and explore what their crazy connection might lead to – at least to a point. The relationship is blooming when suddenly Ruby leaves Portland. What is even more confusing, Evan lets her . . . Will they recognize how they’ve changed each other? Will their wanderlust continue to be a stronger pull then that amazing attraction, or did their time together prepare them for a forever kind of relationship with someone else? You’ll have to read ALL of the very STEAMY “THE GYPSY AND THE ROGUE” to answer these and any other questions that may come up during the experience. NO one writes BDSM hotness quite like Claire Thompson does, so if you have not experienced a Claire Thompson romance, then start with “THE GYPSY AND THE ROGUE” and then read all of the other wonderful titles she has published. Thompson’s characters are always realistic and easy to root for, the plots are always complex and STEAMILY compelling, and her prose is easy and smooth to read. I very much enjoyed this book. It was actually novel length, loaded with great characters, dialogue, plot & lots & lots of STEAM. Both the MC's: Evan (H), a sexy Dom well known in the BDSM community & Ruby (h), a sexy submissive are globally rolling stones traveling from project to project & they happen to be at the same place at the same time in this book.
Ruby catches Evan's eye immediately & visa versa: Evan asks Ruby to assist him with a BDSM demo & she eagerly agrees. Both of them feel an instant, heat & connection but neither one has ever envisioned 'settling down' in any one location with any one person. Evan has relationships that last no longer than his stay at any particular place & although Ruby has has a couple relationships none were permanent or really impacted her emotionally.
However, this time our rolling stones have a problem: are they each other's 'ONE'? And if neither one ever wants to 'settle down', how can they have a permanent relationship? And this is the tension of the book: can Evan & Ruby overcome their history of transience & admit to themselves & each other how they have come to feel?
Both Evan & Ruby, as well as their group of friends were thoroughly likable characters, they were all thoughtful & kind to & of each other & all live a BDSM, D/s lifestyle. The author liberally spices things up with numerous 'scenes' (some of which: equipment & type I've not read of before) & the writing was substantial: I like when books have substance to read & the author never overdid any descriptions of clothes, surroundings, food, etc. I was invested in the H/h & wanted them to reach a HEA.
A very nice touch were the two Russian Blue cats Ruby was 'catsitting' & it was funny how Evan could never remember their names.
I think the book had a very nice blend of romance, sexy BDSM steam, friendship & tension: would our H/h get their HEA?

Friends that are reunited and back to give us more sexy fun, laughter and the gift of their caring friendships. It makes a series so worthwhile, a joy to read, when characters and stories are connected. Let Evan and Ruby guide you on their adventure and experience their daring, their free spirited nature.

The best (so far) in the Connections series. WOW!

Maybe its because of Claire's artful deviations from the basic trope.
Perhaps its due to the seemingly unforced and satisfying inclusion of friends from the first three presentations in this series.
Conceivably the skillful wordsmithing and line editing is to blame.
Whatever it was, this tale comes together nigh on to flawlessly and holds the reader tightly into Claire's world.

The gradual and sometimes complex character development feels a lot like a coming of age celebration and invokes the familiar "someone needs slaps to the back of the head" feeling. But that's a necessary side effect to Claire's masterful plotting.

My expectations for this story were quite high and were easily exceeded. Highly recommended!

I fell head over heels in love with Evan and Ruby and the story is written brilliantly by Claire Thompson that it had me turning page after page until I had finished! It may not have taken me long but the time spent with Evan and Ruby was AMAZING and left me tired in the morning as I had read until the early hours desperate to see how this ended! Individually they are slightly lost and wandering around from place to place both denying they are secretly searching. For what they are searching, neither realises, but when together these two light up the pages and each other as a brilliant dynamic that keeps you satisfied and happy with how their story ends.

Having read the previous books in the collection I knew the characters that make an appearance and this helped my enjoyment of some VERY sexy and sinful scenes but, if you haven't read the previous ones, don't let that put you off, you can certainly enjoy this story without any prior reading. (Though this will make you want to go back and read the previous ones - you have been warned!)

I have enjoyed pretty much everything Claire has thrown my way and I'm so excited to see what she brings next to the BDSM Connections series.

This is book four in the BDSM Connections series by Claire Thompson. I recently finished book 2 in the series. I read book 1 a while ago and MUST reread it to give you my review and once again enjoy the story. I've read Claire's books for quite a few years, but only this year did I commit to writing a review for each one. The authors deserve this from me. I rated this book 5 stars. It truly deserved this rating as it had it all. A great romance, a fascinating glimpse into the world of BDSM. They had complex personalities that leapt off the pages. Ones that I would actually like to know.

Our heroine, Ruby Beckett is the 'gypsy' referred to. She is a 'rolling stone' never staying too long in any one location. She has no intention of ever settling down. She picks up a cat-sitting gig in a beautiful home in Portland, Oregon for two spoiled, but well-behaved cats. She took the house sitting job so that she could help her jeweler friend, Allie prepare her booth for a BDSM Connections large Expo.

At the same time Evan Stewart is a DOM who also is commitment adverse. He is a BDSM event coordinator who only stays long enough to put together and see the next event come to fruition before moving on. He greatly enjoys being a Master DOM, but lets his partners know that he is not the 'staying' kind of guy.

He knows immediately that he would like to do a 'demo' scene and 'more' with Ruby, and she with him. The start of the real story. They get along beautifully, both with their BDSM play and their interpersonal relationship. The steamy and BDSM scenes are really HOT. There is a real story here, not just a filler to get you from one BDSM/steamy scene to the next. They gradually grow more and more involved with each other and their close friends who are also in the BDSM scene. We have met some of these in previous books, but the story is a complete stand-alone. It's a fairly long book, but it flies by as you'll be flipping pages.

I received this book as an ARC and I was not obligated to read/review the book, but loved giving you my unbiased opinion. On to books 1 and 3. This is most definitely a 5 star book!

It is so nice reading a good book by a great author. I have had several books lately that the author was on the right track but not quite there yet. There certainly is not true of Claire Thompson. She is an author who has a smooth way with a story and writes clearly and well. This story is no exception. You can read this as a stand alone, but it would be more fun to start with the first book in the BDSM Connection series and continue, because you will want to know the back story of all the wonderful side characters in the story. Evan and Ruby meet at the set up of a huge, new BDSM convention center. They have mutual friends and things just flow between them. There is an instant connection between them, which causes some angst for both of them, because thus far they have been free spirits, roaming the world, and not becoming tied down to any particular place or person. The connection between them continues to grow stronger and their friends try their hands in match making, since neither Ruby nor Evan can bring themselves to commit. Yes, they finally get their HEA, but not without distance and soul searching. As an aside, Claire has detailed many new and different BDSM devices I had never heard of, which was interesting, to say the least.

I LOVE Clair Thompson’s writing, and this book is no exception. She is a master of sensual words and erotic BSDM concepts. Somehow she managed to slowly, carefully, sensuously take me on an erotic journey into areas of BDSM that I have never come across before. Reading her words made it extremely hard to breathe. The descriptions are so amazingly eloquent! Just when I thought this story could not get more exciting, it did!

The characters in this story are outstanding. It amazed me to watch the play between a woman who is strong and independent, yet able to be compliant and submissive, and a man who is willing to concede power, at times, while maintaining his dominant aura. Seeing how individuals in the BDSM community can deal with and overcome the same issues people in all lifestyles face made them all the more empathetic.

Thank you, Claire, for the way my whole mind, body and soul are enriched by reading and absorbing what your talented intellect creates. Please, please, do not write more---I cannot stand the excitement that curls deep in my belly, just by reading your words!!! WAIT! WAIT!I mean write more just like this very quickly, so I can read it and always feel this way!!!

Claire Thompson brings us a great story of two people whose souls recognize the spirit of freedom and giving. Evan’s travels take him to locations where he teaches techniques of the BDSM lifestyle. Ruby is more caregiver and nurturer. Her adventures take her globally at the level of Peace Corps volunteer. Both Evan and Ruby can be said to be wanderers.

When they meet the attraction is mutual and sparks fly. Their light-hearted flirtation soon becomes an all-encompassing passionate journey. Ruby and Evan find an explosive connection in their intense sexual play and you can’t help feeling like you are right there. Secrets are revealed, but both Ruby and Evan are unsure about giving more of themselves to this relationship. Both have lived their nomadic existence without really engaging their hearts. Will they finally admit they’ve found love and happiness before it’s too late?

The Gypsy and The Rogue is the fourth book in the BDSM Connections series. I love how we get to visit characters from the previous books in the series in this story. I received and voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

One five alarm fire coming up!
When the description of the prep-work for a scene is already as intense as in this story, you know you have another thing coming! And it is coming. All the time and everywhere!
Two "Wanderers", constantly moving from place to place, meet while preparing a new venue, a BDSM convention center. Both having been in the lifestyle for a time, they hit it off right from their first meeting. Without the need for the usual dating rituals, they get right to the nitty-gritty, both knowing that their time together is limited.
This makes for a highly condensed, sensual tour de force. It takes you with powerful images from light scenening, to what every Dom should know and experience, into hard core 24/7 territory, and almost everything in between.
Although they know each other only for an incredibly short time, their connection is of a deep and genuine kind.
But when the end of their time together comes sooner then they thought, their old patterns emerge and their safety walls go up.
Fortunately they have a close and meddlesome group of friends .... !

Though Ruby and Evan are both world travelers, they each happen to wind up in the same city with mutual friends. Ruby takes a cat-sitting job in Portland since she has friends there she has not seen in a long time. Evan is there to help set up for a new event center that is opening. When Evan needs a volunteer for a whipping demo, Ruby is determined that it needs to be her. 3
Through the days they spend time together they each wonder if the other is how they would stay in one spot. Each one fulfilling the others needs in ways they did not know was possible. Neither person wants to admit their need of the other though since they always led such carefree lives…

I am loving this series. Read apart or together (though characters do mingle in other books).

I loved this hot, sexy new winner from Claire Thompson. This is not a book report, for The Gypsy and the Rogue, but my impressions after reading about a sexy, dominate male and a spunky, strong, submissive finding their way to each other through the most intense, thrilling, pantie-melting sex. The descriptions were detailed and enticing. The plot moved quickly and held my interest throughout, without emotionally draining angst. And the characters were all very likable and believable. I could relate and feel myself in the situations. And now the good part, the sex. OMG the sex was great and plenty of it. I read erotica, BDSM mostly, and The Gypsy and the Rogue is filled with the hottest, intense, off the chart, sex superbly described and intimately detailed. Perfection!

THE GYPSY AND THE ROGUE is book 4 in the BDSM connections series. It can be read as a standalone though so you have no reason not to make it your first book, if you haven't read the others.
It's so hot! Evan and Ruby are a terrific couple and really make the perfect Dom and Sub. They both compliment one another's individual quirks and it's obvious why they fell for one another so hard.
Claire Thompson has written another 5 star book. Her readers will be incredibly happy with this and I am sure she will make many more new readers too. The Dungeon scenes are out of this world and so imaginative. I never thought the idea of water play would be appealing but I was mistaken.
The book is well written and flows so easily. Highly recommended

This is a delightful story of two people who never seem to stay in one place long enough to form a relationship. Although this is the fourth book in the BDSM Connections series, it's easily read as a standalone. Ruby and Evan keep connecting with each other, and there are lots of sizzling scenes between them. Their relationship is so natural but it's hard to look to the future with these two people who spontaneously move on to their next adventure. I really love the main characters, as well as revisiting the other couples who have already found love, and you know there will be a group scene when they all get together! This book has is a character driven romance with a lot of kink, and is beautifully written.

From the very first page, this story took off. I so admire Ruby, she goes where she pleases and does what she pleases. She meets Evan at an event and the attraction is there. The connection they have is intense, just as their scenes are intense but something keeps each of them from expressing how much they feel for each other.

I love this couple, their blooming romance, their passion for the BDSM lifestyle and just how well Ms. Thompson does at describing all of this and making it into a story that you will be glad you read.

I’ve not read any of the stories in the series, but I never felt lost, it can be read stand-alone, it actually makes me want to go and read those other stories.

Hot BDSM romance between Evan, a BDSM events coordinator, and Ruby, a globe-trotting gypsy. Both were commitment-shy and neither was looking for more than a casual hook-up. But the heart wants what the heart wants. Evan was a Dom and Ruby was a sub for the most part but both were confident and self-assured enough to switch. In acting out Ruby’s fantasies, they learned that there are several levels in the world of BDSM and were surprised to learn that their level was not at all what they expected. This is a sexy, steamy story that will keep you reading into the night with a smile on your face. Claire scores another hit!

I am volunteering to leave a review of this ARC book. Ruby and Evan's story was as interesting as the other characters Claire has made me fall for. Claire weaves a story that has you reading and ignoring the other things in your life. I was heavily invested in Ruby and Evan's wanderlust, but yet, feeling those pangs to find the right person. Could these two find a way to satisfy all their emotional needs. Wanting love, but still wanting adventure? I cannot wait to see whose story is next, and I definitely want to have Ruby and Evan back. Perhaps there is a child in their future? And, perhaps, Ruby will be "branded," or at least tattooed? Another awesome book from Claire!

This is a book in the BDSM connection series, but you can read it as a standalone. It features characters from the previous book, but it has a new couple and story.

What I enjoyed most about this book is that I read about plays and equipment that I haven’t read about before. That makes it fresh and different.

Evan and Ruby are likeable characters, both of them wander. They never stay still long in one place. When they get together they talk about desires and fantasy and it as fun reading about them bringing those fantasies alive and finding out how they compare in real life.

And that cat sitting made me laugh.

A must bdsm read. Ruby is back in the states housesitting and cat sitting . She is with her friend Allie at a when she sees Evan or should she say sir Evan. He ask for a volunteer and Ruby can't help but hope he picks her. Evan and Ruby sure know what the want . They don't have a traditional relationship but it works for them. I like how their journey in the bdsm is different and that Evan has seen it from both ends. I like that we get to see old friends and see how they are doing. I voluntarily read an arc of this book.

This is my 5th book by Claire and she is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.
Ruby eyes Evan at the BDSM Connections Event Center where she is helping her long time friend set up her vendor booth. Evan picks Ruby for a whipping demo, and the electricity between them surprises them both as kindred wandering spirits. When Evan is asked to pre-test the new equipment, and he chooses Ruby in an instant. But will their wandering spirits keep them apart or will they take a chance at love? You have to read to find out and won’t want to put the book down.

With dynamic characters who are more mature, this was one book that gave me all the feels that I could ask for and more. From the way they met to the differences they were able to admit seeing in each other, it will take you on a trip that will make you want to get out there and go as well. Definitely one of those books that will stay in my top list of books to keep and re-read.

I really enjoyed reading about Ruby and Evan. They were two adults who knew themselves, knew their desires, their wishes, and the way they wanted to live their lives. They kinks meshed perfectly, their personalities suited each other, and they clicked in almost every way, even being so completely unaware on their feelings and how to express them. They were lucky to have friends to help them out with that part!

This is the fourth book in the BDSM Connections series. I read this as a standalone as I had not read the first three books and was able to keep up. But I recommend that you read the first three books if you can. Talk about hot and dark. The chemistry is off the charts for Evan and Ruby. If you like BDSM stories, you'll like this book. Another great one! I love her books. I love the storyline although different it still includes BDSM. I love the intense passionate sex scenes, the relationship all the couples have together and with their friends. I enjoy how love always wins.
The book is extremely well written. The re-introduction of past characters to the story is really well done and I enjoy hearing about them and having them be included in the story.

I really like this series and this newest book, The Gypsy and The Rogue is no exception. Evan and Ruby are great characters; strong, passionate, lusty, kinky. Fear of commitment keeps them on the move, no place or no one ties them down. Now, from their first moments together, feelings start to form and they are both thrown by them. Claire Thompson writes compelling characters, titilizing stories, and has become one of my favorite authors. Evan and Ruby have instant chemistry and share a love of travel and adventure......alone. Neither has been in a long term relationship in a very long time, but they seem to want more with each other. This book is a fast, sexy, well paced read that I’m sure any BDSM lover would enjoy.

Wow, these two have heat and chemistry. This story is well written and superbly told. Ruby and Evan’s characters have great depth and personality. Ruby’s globetrotting tendencies and Evan’s avoidance of anything that might look like a relationship creates some fabulous tensions. A BDSM love story that you don’t want to miss.

To quote a line this book is both sexy and safe. While reading this I am able to learn about so many new toys that I have never heard of or adventures that I will never experience other than thru Claire Thompson. I am in awe of her experiences and can picture myself in the place of her female characters. Each book is a true walk on the wild side and I look forward to each new one.
