The third book in the "Thrill of the Chase" series, we find an uncommon kind of love story.
Nate grew up guided by the role model of Jack, a man almost 20 years his senior. Jack is also single parenting his younger sister, Maxine, younger by 20 years. Growing up Nate and Maxine fall in love as teenagers, but are too scared of Jack to openly date and the relationship breaks under that pressure.
Now is 7 years later. Nate is a successful owner of a bike restauration and paint shop, and when Maxine comes home from college the old feelings re-awaken. But Jack is still as over-protective as he had been. Facing him is a challenge they have to overcome to have a chance at their happiness.
The book is well-written and explores the ambiguous feelings the young couple has. They understand the reason why Jack is protective and do not want to hurt or disappoint him, they are scared of his anger, but need to face it. Highly emotional, but I guess, also fairly realistic.
