Swann Sisters Chronicles #2

Be Careful What You Wish For

Rate this book
How do you sue your Fairy Godmother?

Cassandra Swann is about to find out. Because she and her sisters are 1/8th fairy--not enough to do any magic--just enough to get them a Fairy Godmother from hell whose reckless spells makes their lives miserable. When her older sister decides to take the FG to court, Cass gets caught in the crossfire. Hit by their godmother with a disastrous birthday wish, she is in danger of losing what she loves most--her ability to paint.

Because the court is in the realm of the Fae, Cass and her sisters have a Court Appointed Elf who acts as their attorney slash bodyguard. But who ever heard of a 6 foot 4 muscular elf with coal-black hair and intense green eyes? Sparks fly the first minute Cass meets Jacobin O'Shea. She resents his high-handed ways and Jake thinks Cass is a spoiled human brat. But after he saves her from a soul-sucker and sees her art, things begin to change between them.

But Cass's ability to paint is still screwed up. Every painting she attempts climbs off the canvas and makes trouble in the real world. When the Fae court assigns her a new Fairy Godmother, things get exponentially worse when her new wish multiplies her living art. To make matters even more difficult, Jake's ex-fiancée--a gorgeous, anorexiclly-thin fairy--has Cass in her crosshairs and is determined to ruin anything that might grow between them. And did we mention Cass's grandmother is going on disastrous dates that fill the house with Star Trek conventioneers, bikers, and nudists?
It's a mess only magic could make...or fix.

Will Cass and Jake ever get past their differences? Will Cass regain her ability to paint without every painting stepping off the canvas? (Really, Fairy Godmother?) And will Cass's grandmother find a man without burning down the house?

You'll have to read Be Careful What You Wish For, the second book in the Swann Sisters Chronicles to find out.

Man I wanted to love this, but I struggled with Cass and Jake, mostly Cass’ immaturity and the cheating, which is a real hard limit for me. If it weren’t for the fact that her boyfriend is basically nonexistent and useless I would have had a real problem finishing the story. Jake also had his moments, though their romance was imbalanced, with most of the tension and bad decisions coming from her end of things, which was frustrating in the non-fun way. Finally, the “must have sexual relations for the magic to happen”....literally...that got repetitive by the end. I did enjoy that the Fae Realm had a bigger part of this story and I am looking forward to Rory’s story, because I think it will benefit most from the setup of the Fae world and I don’t think cheating is a factor in it. Crossing fingers anyway.

Please write the third one!

I absolutely adored this book and the first one so much. They had legitimately funny moments and very steamy moments and magical moments and I just enjoyed every minute of it.
*small spoiler ahead*
I really want to read about Rory and the phooka! Daegan! please write the third one. If your muse likes it.
I will always read what you write but I especially loved these books and really hope there will be a third!

4.4 stars ✨✨✨

It was a little weird that this book and the first one both had the heroine engaged with someone else (already in a relationship) when doing intimate acts with the hero. It was technically cheating, though I didn't mind so much. What I loathe is when the hero cheats on the heroine.

At first, I wasn't sure about this book. I was like oh, please don't tell me this whole book is going to be a court scene. As usual, Evangeline didn't disappoint with the story. For the first half of the story, Cass was a little too antagonistic for me. Jacobin was stern but cute.

This book took me about six hours to read. For any other author, I would groan if I saw a book was 430 pages, but I never wish to be done with her books (unless I'm trying to finish it before bed, and it's getting late).

I was a little disappointed that Arturo, the grandmother's beau, disappeared, but it was funny how the grandmother kept picking men who had crazy, large gatherings at her place for their first date.

The setup for Rory's (what an ugly nickname for Aurora) book was so good it's disappointing Evangeline never wrote the third book.

It was cool to learn that Cinderella and all fairy tales like that are true. It was amusing when Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series was referenced, though her first name was misspelled.

I've noticed this with her books: I don't like when the heroine apologizes to the hero for being "girly" for crying and then calls herself a feminist. Crying isn't girly (or weak), even if it is more socially acceptable for women.

A fun magical tale full of life and conflicts. Much like an adult Disney special with main male character like Harry from Charmed. Loved it, would recommend and read again.

Evangeline Anderson - Be Careful What You Wish For (The Swann Sisters Chronicles Book 2)

Wow this book definitely deserves a real ten stars, the author has really outdone herself.
First of all I really like this new realm filled with magic, nasty fairy god, others, hot Fae, many different species of every imagination, the authors creativity here was on full blast. This book is a large book and it gave so much detail, world building and character development that we really get to sink our teeth into the story. It also weaves in secondary character storylines such as the ever hilarious Nana and a quickly maturing younger sister Rory.
Cassandra, a talented artist, gets pulled into her sister Phil’s lawsuit against their life ruining fairy godmother and is forced to accompany her sisters and Nana into Fairy for the trial.
They must travel with and be represented by “Jake” who Cassandra finds bossy and arrogant and immediately butts head with him. Jake who is their protector and lawyer finds Cass somewhat of a spoiled brat, although an attractive one.
This spellbinding story has Jake saving Cass’s life several times and they start to build up “feelings” for each other which include mounting sexual attraction.
Truthfully hero and heroine were both annoying in the beginning but as the story progresses I found myself loving them.
There is so much to enjoy in this series, I could not put it down (warning you may be sleep deprived staying up to finish the book).
Besides the rollercoaster magical journey , there is hilarious mayhem from crazy Nana (online dating has been gerringnher into trouble). The well written in depth characters, a spellbinding new world, and the sexual tension building between Cass and Jake (this book 5 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 on the sizzling hotness scale), the story is takes us on multiple unbelievable enjoyable journeys.
I hope it won’t be too long for Book 3 which will hopefully have Rory’s story and maybe even Nana will find true love.

Loss of Respect for Fairy Godmothers and a True Appreciation of an Elf!! 4.5 stars

One expects a Fairy Godmother to be a “good thing”. But when three Swann sisters continually have their wishes go wrong they decide to sue. In the fairy court. Where there are very few rules and things can go from bad to worse. Thank goodness for court-appointed Elf Jacobin O’Shea who is both attorney and bodyguard. Jacobins intensity is matched by his exceedingly good looks.

A comedy of errors, some serious fairy issues, a unique method of increasing magical powers and an effort to make a living as an artist and combine into a highly entertaining read!!

This story of the second Swann sister was more than I thought it would be. You'll enter the World of the Fae (which contains many more inhabitants than fairies) and discover all is not unicorns and rainbows and glittery beings. When the sisters court-appointed lawyer, a very hot elf, whisks them off for the Fae Court where their case will be decided, Cas discovers just how rotten that court system is. And that's only the beginning of her troubles. Evangeline Anderson shows us just how great a world builder she is and how imaginatively she creates her characters. No spoilers here, but parts of this story are so romantic and sexy that I had the warm fuzzies (which soon turned into very hot fuzzies. But there are parts that are dark, dangerous, and disturbing, too. I couldn't put it down! Now I can't wait for the third one!

3.5 stars. (I’m writing this review a couple days after finishing it, so the details aren’t fresh anymore.)
“Be Careful What You Wish For” by Evangeline Anderson provided a nice light-hearted escape from everyday life, particularly the overbearing politics affecting our social climate and economic policies of today. Its funny moments brought me laughter to forget for a moment that beyond my door is a world over saturated with divisive politics and people determined to hate one another over political differences.

Anderson weaves these funny moments into a plot that is enjoyable, bringing together two characters who got off on the wrong foot. Though the characters were likeable, they didn’t stand out. I won’t remember them given a few weeks.

I recommend this book to anyone looking to uplift their mood while reading romance. This book found me at a time when I needed a break.

Evangeline has done a fantastic job with this series. Hen charcters have so much personality and mix perfectly. Each of the sisters have their own situations to deal with, but you can feel the love between them all. This time, things get really hard really quick. Cass’s wish gets sidetracked immediately and causes more damage than expected, but not only that, Phil’s grievance with the ex court puts a bit more of a twist to I think. Jacobin and Cassandra are a perfect match, even if she doesn’t believe it to begin with. I cannot wait to see what happens with Rory...especially with Daegon involved.

Another really good story from Evangeline Anderson! This is the 2nd Swann Sisters story and it is every bit as good as the first! I had to laugh out loud at some of the humour and found that the scenarios Cass found herself in wer just hilarious!
Cass meets Jake (Jacobin O'Shea), who is the court (fae court) appointed councillor for the sisters' suit against their fairy godmother. The case comes before the court the day before Cass is supposed to give her wish and as a result this leads to disaster and serious mayhem.

A really good read and well worth it! Get the series today! I look forward to the 3rd!!

What a fantastic series !!! Absolutely loved this book the sexual tension between Jake and Cass all that back and forth was nothing but some interesting foreplay. But also seeing them connected and watching their relationship unfold was great. Nana is still hilarious and causing mayhem as she go. Overall a enjoyable and entertaining read. I'm super excited and can't wait for Rory and Daegan story. Cas and Jake interacting with each if was awesome to read you get to see these 2 characters get annoyed with each other and then finally realize there feeling for each other. Book 2 we get to see the fae realm. I really enjoyed how evangeline creates these different realms and places to discover in her books. This book definitely kept my attention loved the story plot and steamy love scene. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. No spoilers here check out this book

The Swann sisters are many things but boring is not one of them!
Chaos and mayhem seem to be drawn to them and all Cass wants is to focus on getting her art career off and running.
Enter Jake who is appointed to help Cass and her sisters out of another magical situation caused by their FG.
Emotions, among other things run amok and everyone's kept on their toes until a certain sister and her councilor figure it out.
Hot and heavy meets crazy destiny!

This book is the long awaited second book in the Swann Sisters Chronicles and it did not disappoint. Jake and Cassandra (I loved that Jake refused to shorten her name!) were wonderful together of course but it was the cast of secondary characters and the magic itself which made the story such a good read. Cass’s eccentric grandmother’s antics continued as did the hilarious results of the fairy godmother’s ridiculous wish-granting. A fun, yummy read!

I love Evangeline Anderson novel’s and the plots are always developed. I love the mischief that her characters get into and the adventure they end up having from it. The world of the fae was never interesting to me, but Evangeline Anderson made this novel worth the read. I do look forward to the third novel with Rory! I think I was more invested in her story than the original. I do wish that is story had been a male’s perspective, it may have lessened the blow of the heroine’s antics. But overall it was a good read! 3.5 stars for me !

I read book one in this series and was immediately hooked. Evangeline has such a way of telling a good tale and that's speaking mildly. These books have it all from sexy heroes to Fairy Godmothers. I laughed out loud may times. I also like the fact that there are so many fancy creatures and objects—I don't want to give the story away. And as per Evangeline the love story is breathtaking and very hot. I can't wait to start reading book three of the Swann Sisters Chronicles.

Thanks Evangeline!

Loved it!

She has done it again, she has created a great story! I loved this couple, the romance, and the heat. I just wish the story had Jake's POV, it would have made the story just a little bit better for me. But with that said, I still loved it. I haven't read the first story from this series, but if you love Anderson other works, you will enjoy this story.

There was just so much drama going on, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at all the bad luck. Poor Cass is appointed an elf lawyer who is just too irresistible. To top it off she has to deal with her art acting crazy and getting her in trouble and an ex who wants her gone. I loved every second of this story.

Second book in a fun and sometimes comical fairy romance. I loved this book and the series. The idea of a fairy godmother that has to grant a wish but purposely messes it up to be mean is great. And in one beyond wacky grandmother and you never know who will show up. The book guarantees laughs and some hotness. Especially one hot male elf. Can’t wait for the next book.

I read the first book in this series and it was good. I could not finish this book It was just over the top and a not good way. We went to another realm which I understand is not the earthly realm but flying sofas that throw you off and things like that are just a little too off for me. I like fantasy I like shifters I like the paranormal but I couldn't get into this one I'm sorry.

As good as you’d expect

Not my favorite book but I didn’t like how she’s finally made characters that where a little more believable. Looking forward to Rory’s book. I have a feeling it’s going to top the previous two

Creative take on the fae world, unlike anything I've read before, except perhaps a touch of Harry Potter's wizarding world. The reader is set up to be dying to read the next book, about the last sister and her potential phooka boyfriend.

And I love grandma's dating disasters.
