Mr. Squirrel can’t believes his eyes—an unknown, mysterious creature is under his tree. It must be the legendary king of the forest. Will the king share his wisdom to Mr. Squirrel and the other animals and help them have a better life, as legend has it? In fact, the king tells the animals his only and most important rule of life. But as it turns out, it’s anything but royal . . .

This book was almost good. The drawings were well done but the pale, faint colors made me feel that I was looking at unfinished work. The story was vague and I think little ones would be bored before the end of this newly published picture book.
I don't even know where to start reviewing this book. The illustrations were nice. They varied between vague brushstrokes to more detailed and colored illustrations.
But the story? Oh my god...strange. Squirrel and the other forest creatures are waiting for the arrival of the King of the Forest. When Squirrel thinks he sees him, strangeness ensues. Poo and pee follows, along with plenty of leg-lifting.
I want to love this book. I love the first two in the series. Once again the illustrations are wonderful. I feel like there was something missing in the set up of the joke. It just didn't make me laugh the way his other stories have. I did like the scene when the dog gets branches stuck in his collar.
I wonder if something was lost/left out in translation? This didn't wrap up very well. I really like It's Springtime, Mr. Squirrel, but am not really a fan of this one.
This children's book author is weird. I love it and at times it's maybe too much. This one tipped a little more in that direction but if you are totally at home with fecal matter and urine as the backdrop to your story. Carry on.
