This perfect beach read includes two sizzling summer romances, Pulled Under and Swept Away, in one charming collection!
It’s a summer they’ll never forget…
In Pulled Under , Izzy Lucas only needs her surfboard and the waves of Pearl Beach, Florida, to be happy…until the cute and charming Ben Barker walks into her life.
A unstoppable romance blooms quickly between the two, and as the weeks of surfing lessons and moonlight walks fly by, Ben inspires Izzy to risk everything and compete in the biggest surfing event of the year. But Ben is only in town for the summer, and Izzy can’t help but wonder if this amazing guy is worth stepping out of her comfort zone for what might be the perfect summer romance.
In Swept Away , Mandy Sullivan is navigating three months filled with countless lobster boils, endless workdays at the historic Rocky Point lighthouse, and tourists in town for the popular Lupine Festival. But everything changes the moment Mandy spots a new—and incredibly cute—face in the festival’s crowd, Oliver Framingham.
The two fall deeply for each other as they attend the many local parades and romantic hikes along Maine’s picturesque coast. But Mandy knows it’s too good to be true, because when summer ends, Oliver just might have to leave the town—and the girl—he’s fallen in love with.
Is being swept away worth the risk? Or will the tide pull them under?
Pulled Under was a great book, and all the characters were enjoyable. Swept Away just felt like the same basic story with the characters and location changed. Still a cute story, but no originality. Would have rather read Pulled Under in it's single book version.
This is actually a bind up of two separate novels, each about first love and summer romance.
First things first- the cover is absolutely gorgeous. It's absolutely the reason why I purchased this book, so good marketing, folks! 😁
The first novel, Pulled Under, is a refreshing story about a girl surfer who meets a cute summer visitor and falls in love with him. She teaches him how to surf, instead of the old fashioned boy teaching girl trope.
The second, Swept Away, takes place in a Maine fishing town and has equally quirky characters.
This book is written like the teen novels of my generation. There's very little mention of technology, just timeless stories of human interaction. They are exactly what girls wish dating and romance were like- boys who are kind and a little puppy-like; boys who look you in the eye and really see you and like you for who you are, boys who want to actually go out and do things and are okay with just kissing and holding hands. Dating hasn't been like this since the 50s, so to me these books are just as fantastical as Harry Potter. But it's a lovely read.
This book was everything a girl could dream of. The romance inside of it was amazing the story to it was great. It was all very engaging and I would read this book again. Would totally recommend to all the girls out there for a cute summer romance book!.
This review has both book review, within that I warned you of a spoiler alert of both of them.
‘Pulled Under’ was such a cute quick summer romance. 5 stars! I loved Izzy & Ben. Ben is my favorite character…our we seeing a reoccurring pattern here😬 I may or not have fell has hard as our girl Izzy. *Ahem* moving along…
**spoilers of ‘Pulled Under’** Love love the vibes of Pearl Beach. Ben wearing shoes and SOCKS on the beach will forever have me crying in pain. It’s a cute n’ silly thing that Ben was actually born in Pearl Beach and my goshhhhh…May of moved to Pearl Beach…now or later. I must know now tho. My fav part might of been Nicole, Sophie, and Ben wearing actual coconut bras and grass skirt. Ben is overall funny. Nicole is honestly such a vibes and I’m here for it, so is Sophie. We all need to girl bsf that go back and forth all day. The register being involved is hilarious. Gotta love it.
‘Swept Under’ was a slowwww cute romance. Well cute in certain parts. 3.5 stars! It was so slow we didn’t meet Oliver until 30 pages in…idk exactly number. The cutest part of this whole book was there first kiss. And that says a lot bc I’m personally the type of person who will make it my life goal to convince a heart to heart convo on a beach or something other than first kiss is best part. Dear John? Beach scene not the kiss, im srry not rlly. Don’t even try to disagree with me🤣 Candy Cane is a cute lighthouse tho. But I prefer “Our Spot”. Bc it’s theres. There SPECIAL place y’all. Overall the storyline was pretty boring and I found it hard to finish. I even skimmed some parts.
**spoilers of ‘Swept Away’** I like the island location. A sucker for a lil island…one (not in Maine) is my fave place ever. I didn’t love Cynthia. I think she may of been miss understood when she came back but stilll. John Oliver (however you actually spell last name🤣)…an artist and chef? Who doesn’t like fellow klutz’s tho?
This book is a 2 for 1 deal! Unfortunately they are not both 5 stars. I’m giving an average of 4 stars for this review thou.
Pulled Under gets 5 stars. Super cute summer romance, a page turner for sure! Love the characters and storyline. I couldn’t put it down at some points because I was so invested what would happen next!❤️I honestly was hoping that the Swept Away was a part 2 but sadly it wasn’t. Highly recommend this one thou! Great pool or beach book.
Swept Away really is probably only a 3 star for me. It was no where near as interesting as the first book. Very similar story lines in my opinion which I thought was weird. It took an extremely long time to get to the punch line in this one too that by the time it happened we were at the end of the book and it kinda just ends. 🤷🏽♀️
I really enjoyed this book but didn't like it as much as Boardwalk Summer. Although I didn't think that it was as good as the first, I really enjoyed reading it. I noticed I felt that I was reading it sticky. That means that it took a really long time to read. And by the end, I was ready to give up on it. But as I got to the bitter end, I really started to enjoy it like I did at the beginning and enjoy it like the first book.
It was cute and fun, im not a cheesy romance fan but this book actually made me want to read them more often. I didn’t realize there were two books inside until I began reading but I liked them both. Like I said I wasn’t into lighthearted reads before but this converted me a bit, “Pulled under’ was a bit better than ‘Swept away’ but both were cute.
This was a cute light read, perfect for summer beach reading. The 2 stories were fun with the 2nd one, Swept Away, being my favorite and more realistic. Both Ben and Izzy and Mandy and Oliver are good together but Pulled Under was definitely more predictable. I liked that Swept Away happens in less typical beach in Maine.
good quick read. nothing amazing but i enjoyed it. didn’t realize there were two separate stories till i finish the first lolz. i liked the first better tbh, the love interest was better in my opinion. also can someone teach me how to surf..
btw while i was writing this a spider attacked me.
This book has to be the best romance book that I have ever read the setting and everything about this book was amazing I love this author's writing style and I want to read her other book just like this called Boardwalk summer
I loved the first story more because I can relate to the girl's love of surfing but also enjoyed the second one. Short but interesting romance story that is good for a road trip or summer read.
Absolutely loved it. D Both stories I fell in love with the four main chapters. Love the love story in them. Took me 2 days I was hooked on it didn't want to put it down.
These were cute and innocent stories with summer, beachy vibes. Just what I needed for a breezy, uncomplicated reading experience, which is much needed now.
Pulled under was great, but swept away seemed like a copy of the first story. Good if you want a not so hard summer read, but to be honest, go for something else lol.
