Stu Truly has his summer all planned out, and he's anxious to spend time with Becca, the girl who makes his palms sweat and his stomach turn. Will Stu's crush turn into something more?
It's the summer before eighth grade, and Stu Truly is enjoying the start of his vacation! His plans consist of playing video games, hanging out with his friends, and, more importantly, hanging out with Becca. But when Stu has a daydream of kissing Becca, he panics. He isn't even sure if he's actually going out with Becca. Sure, they've held hands a couple of times, but that doesn't mean they're going out, does it?
When Stu's grandma breaks her hip, his plans are put on hold. Now, he has to help out at her store, Truly Fine Fashions. Unfortunately for Stu, it's a women's clothing store. So he has to balance his summer job and spending time with Becca.
This is a hilarious and heartwarming follow-up to the contemporary middle grade novel Stu Truly. Will Stu get his first kiss from the girl who stole his heart?
Stu Truly is back and once again author, Dan Richards does a fantastic job at sharing the ups and downs of young teenagers in Stu Truly: First Kiss. Stu and friends are beginning to like girls and Stu is experiencing new feelings with Becca. He gets nervous when he is around and does silly things but she is patient with him, which is very cute! It is summer vacation and unfortunately Stu's grandma has broken her hip. Grandma owns a women's clothing shop in their small town and Stu gets to help in the store while Grandma recovers. This is not his idea of a fun summer but he makes friends with many of the customers as he helps them with their clothing needs. As Stu works with Elsa at the story he sees how grown men also have a hard time talking to women as he watches Harley get flustered around Elsa. Each year Grandma puts on a fashion show and now Elsa is running the show and seems to mess things up a bit. With Stu and friends helping her the show goes on and is the best one yet! Stu and Becca have misunderstandings throughout this story...will their relationship last and will Stu get his first kiss? Read this book! It is a very realistic story of first love and you will fall in love with Stu.
Who knew a lone chin hair could be so menacing!? This was such a cute and fun book! It's filled with humor, laughs, and middle grade awkwardness that took me right back to my own small town experience while growing up. I can't wait to see what else Dan Richards writes, and I would certainly love more Stu Truly books!
I actually liked this better than the first one. I thought it moved a little faster and the plot (helping at the store) was a bit more interesting to me. Enjoyed his grandmother and the different ladies he comes in to contact with at the store and Stu's growth as a character.
