First off: I cried. This book is Iroh’s love in letters written for Zuko. You learn about Iroh’s past and his perspective on many important moments in Zuko’s life, including his friends. The art in this book heightens it’s beauty ten fold. Overall, a great read for any Avatar fan!

4.5 stars. This book is adorable! It's basically a collection of Iroh's letters to Zuko. You learn about Iroh's past, his love for Zuko, and his perspective on what happened in Zuko's life. It's heartwarming and made me emotional. Also, the art in this book is beautiful!

Totally cried. I didn't expect this to be so emotional! This book is basically a collection of Uncle Iroh's letters to Zuko, his reflections on the past and present, and the Gaang. You learn a lot about his life, but more importantly, about the love he carries for Zuko. Uncle Iroh is so good, witty and wise, I love him so much. One of the best parental figures in fiction!

Also, let's not forget that he gave us "the prince and the fool" bit. <3

as a die hard atla fan i loved this. this is basically iroh sharing his love for zuko with zuko and us through a journal. they go through the past and future events (lok). the last few pages (esp the last page and letter) made me tear up. the art work was also beautiful. it was great hearing iroh’s thoughts and perspective on the events of atla and zuko’s journey.

I love "Avatar: The Last Airbender". The show is so philosophical, and the creators really created a captivating world with its own geography, history, politics, physics.

This scrapbook focuses mainly on Uncle Iroh, my favorite character of the show. He's easily the favorite character of most who watch the show, being the wise and funny sage. However this book didn't his voice right. He writes with words like "plucky" and "feisty" and "entering virgin territory". When did Uncle Iroh become British? It doesn't really sound like him. This is a consequence of many different writers write the same characters over the years.

Some of the letters in this book were nice, but it got a bit repetitive and fluffy. Some parts seemed unnatural, like Katara's letter to Iroh mentioning "you niece, Azula". It seems forced in there as a refresher for the reader, since obviously Iroh has only one niece and doesn't need this to be clarified.

I would love to read more content from the ATLA world that has trivia/ history / background rather than letters.

Great additional reading for a great world. Lots of stuff we already know but told from Uncle Iroh's POV, but we also learn about some new details in Iroh's life and the culture of the Fire Nation. There are some genuinely sweet moments in this that make you go "awwww" multiple times. The cute extra bits like maps, letters, and notes from characters within the world are a really cool addition as well. Definitely worth a read for fans of the show and if, like me, you're an honorary member of the firebenders ;)

all that we already know, just a short summary of the tv series
and those notes, and letters and stuff are glued in a way you can't see text sometimes and you have to move it a bit with causion not to destroy it

Totally tearbending right now. A sweet book written as letters from Iroh to Zuko upon Iroh's impending departure from the physical world. Beautiful illustrations complement the lovely prose. Recommended for any fan of the Fire Nation.

This is such a touching and sweet book, about Iroh reflecting back on history, and on his nephew's life, in order to pass along even more wisdom to Zuko.

Like Legacy, no new info is given, but what makes it interesting is seeing Iroh's thoughts on it all, and how his love for Zuko shines through.

The time frame did get a little confusing as I got closer to the end, until it became clear that this book was written over years, rather than in a short span like Aang's book to Tenzin (Legacy). I'm thinking most of it was written during a short time span, and then Iroh occasionally added things on. I do have to wonder at what point he gave it to Zuko, though--it could always be he added on some pages afterwards.

It was cool to see Iroh's insights into the Gaang, and I love how much detail was put into that. The bits about Sokka were hilarious. Toph did get the shorthand of the stick, which seems a little odd considering she and Iroh got to spend some one-on-one time together, but she's also the one who didn't have any super meaningful moments with Zuko in the show, so I guess it makes sense. However, with that deep conversation Toph and Iroh had had, I really think Iroh could have drawn out a little more of a comparison or something for Toph's section. I do really like that even Momo was included, though.

I also loved that Iroh talked some about what it was like growing up as Azulon's son and Ozai's brother, and about who he had been before losing Lu Ten. It makes me want a story about Iroh's backstory all the more, and just to see more of the events through his eyes. Oh, and Iroh's humor sprinkled throughout this book was great. There were a couple of times I laughed out loud.

Now for the art. I absolutely LOVED it. It was gorgeous, and I wish it was possible to buy some of the pieces as posters. There was so much emotion in how the characters were drawn, and it matched the show's style well while also being much more detailed. I also loved that there were some scenes re-drawn from the show, but much of the art was new moments. It was a nice mix, considering the book is about the past, the present, and wisdom for the future.

This book also has some extra content in the form of physical letters, pamphlets, and whatnot. Like in the Legacy book, I wish there was either a folder in the back to hold them in once taken off, or that they fit more naturally to the pages, rather than covering up text/art. Also, the way they attached the extra content in this book is different than Legacy. I think the idea was for the binding to be a little stronger, but it also causes oil spots that bleed through the pages. So, I love the extra physical content, but they need to figure out a better way to do it.

Overall, I absolutely LOVE this book. It's so nice to see things through Iroh's eyes, since he is one of the wisest but also most mysterious/complicated characters in the entire show (being good but also acting like he is still loyal to the Fire Nation--which he kind of is, but also isn't). The art is beautiful, and I always love seeing Iroh take on the fatherly role to Zuko. I also love that his humor is sprinkled in. A very well done book.

Gelezen: Legacy of the Firenation (10+) 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

And i love it! Uuuhm… Nee. (die uhm is sarcastisch bedoeld)

Inderdaad. Pure nostalgie dus. Helemaal leuk!

Even wat kritiek. De tekeningen zijn erg wisselend in stijl. Of nou ja…

The Avatar Universe will forever hold a special place in my heart. It is the single animated TV show I can watch over and over again without feeling an ounce of boredom. When I saw this book came out, I demanded my library buy a copy so I could read it! With the quarantine going on, I finally had time to binge this book in an hour and a half. And I loved it!

Any fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender or Legend of Korra, should definitely read this!

A nice and easy, sweet collection, but ultimately I felt it didn't expand on any of the lore or characters (just reiterating things we already knew), so it felt like a bit of a missed opportunity really.

"The prince and the fool. But is that all you and Sokka were, or were to one another? No, I think not."
Everybody point and laugh at the homosexuals-
All jokes aside, this was beautiful and I am currently depressed. Also, who knew the Gaang was so excellent at letter-writing?

In would have given three stars if it hadn't been oddly inspiring.
I think the title is a bit misleading because in the end this book is a celebration of Iroh instead of a more comprehensive look into the Royal Family of the Fire Nation. I still liked it and would recommend every Avatar-fan to read it.

Pure Perfektion.

An emotional, heart-warming book that brings great insight into one of the most beloved characters of the show and his long, adventurous and at times painful life. I never thought that seeing things from Iroh's perspective was something I needed but it turns out I was terribly wrong.

Also Zuko and his love for paper dragons has my entire heart 😭

This was cute. Not as good as I was expecting, but still good. Cute read cuz the relationship between Zuko and Uncle Iroh is amazing and fantastic and this was really sweet and really showed how much they cared about each other.
