From the endless imagination of Jason Tharp comes a brand-new, interactive Level 1 Ready-to-Read that’s perfect for fans of Mo Willems, Jim Benton, and David Milgrim and for beginning readers who like to giggle!
Kiwi sees a rope. He wants to pull it, but he cannot reach! What will happen next? Beginning readers can help Kiwiby turning the pages, shaking the book, and more in this interactive story from the author of the Bunny Will Not Smile!
Jason Tharp has dreamed of being an author and inventing crazy creatures since he was a kid. Being an obsessive daydreamer and doodler has led him to create many licensed properties, write books, and design clothing and various other products. Jason's story proves that with hard work, determination, and a sprinkle of magic, anything is possible. He lives in Columbus, Ohio, with his super-awesome wife and kids, plus one extremely fat kitty.
Read for my 3 year old at the library. This bird tried multiple ways to pull the rope with the help of readers because it cannot reach on its own. When finally the rope is turned, it's a surprise result!
An interactive book I picked up because kiwis are oh so cute. Kiwi encourages you to blow a bubble want, flip a lever, press a button, etc all in attempts to help him reach a rope that he wants to pull. Sometimes I wasn't really clear on what was happening (like when there was hammering and nailing going on--but I figured that was to make his launch contraption?), but it came together in the end.
Kiwi wants to pull a rope, and he requires reader interaction to help him reach it.
This interactive beginning reader features a Kiwi bird. Because Kiwi birds cannot fly, the main character has to creatively problem solve in order to reach something off the ground. The story breaks the fourth wall and invites reader interaction.
The text isn't stilted as often happens with books for beginning readers. The illustrations are friendly and uncluttered.
Kiwi really wants to pull a rope, but he can't reach it. Can the reader help him get it, or will Kiwi run out of ideas and motivation?
A cute interactive leveled reader. I like that this stars a kiwi. I can't think of another picture book that features a kiwi as the main character. I also like that kiwi doesn't give up after his first few ideas don't work. Kids will love how silly some of kiwi's ideas are, and the actions they get to do to help him.
A wonderfully interactive book that made me laugh. I found my daughter trying to read the book on her own, shaking the book up and down, open to the page where Kiwi asks the reader to give him or her a jump. The reviews compare it to Mo Willems' Pigeon books, but Kiwi is much sweeter, if not particularly bright. Highly recommended. I have read nothing else like it.
Kiwi wants to pull the rope, but he can't reach it himself. He breaks the fourth wall to enlist the help of the reader, with amusing results. It's a charming book, and Kiwi is a very friendly and endearing character.
Sometimes a person just needs to ask for help. Plain and simple, help! This little kiwi is stuck in a room with a rope and can't reach it. Luckily the author enables he/she/they/it to break the 4th wall and ask the reader for help, and it happens, with a surprise that made my group laugh out loud.
Cute, quick and to the point. This is a read that I was lucky enough to persuade one of my participants to read to all of us. She did a lovely job, and was pretty proud of herself!
Hilarious and adorable. The kiwi wants to pull on a rope, but he needs you to give him some help. The illustrations are simple, cute, and hilarious. This is a great early reader!
Small and flightless, Kiwi can't pull the rope dangling overhead - but he's not giving up on his goal so easily. With a little help from the reader, one of Kiwi's wacky ideas just might work in this interactive first reader.
Super cute early reader! Interactive. Even the 5th grader I read it aloud to was doing the things it asked and giggling. Great for fans of Elephant and Piggie type books. A definite must-add to elementary libraries!
Fun, fun, fun! Author/Illustrator Jason Tharp brings the readers along with Kiwi in this interactive, super creative story about persistence. Kiwi asks the readers to help him as he thinks up plans to reach a rope. I will share that he does meet his goal but you will be tickled with the ending.
