Elisabetta Dami is an Italian author that currently resides in Italy. She is the author of the Geronimo Stilton series, a bestselling childrens book. She enjoys traveling the world seeking ideas for her series. She writes under a pseudonym of Geronimo Stilton. She is also a co-owner of Italian based publishing company Edizioni Piemme.
This is the third graphic novel in the Geronimo Stilton Graphic Novel series published by Papercutz but it was the fourth volume I read to my daughters. This is another fun adventures of Geronimo Stilton and friends! In this book they go back in time during the era of the Roman Empire to stop the Pirate Cats from changing in history. Along the way readers will learn more about the Roman empire specifically with the Coliseum and also the sewage system of the Roman Empire. I really really enjoyed the historical facts taught in the book and there’s a separate panel in this graphic novel for historical information as the plot unfolds. What an interesting and fun way to learn history! Like other Geronimo Stilton’s work thus far I recommend it to kids and parents reading to their kids!
I preferred the graphic novel version to the original JE books. That being said, I skimmed the majority of it and did not read the little text boxes and instead just followed the pictures. I suppose that could have been the main reason behind making it into a graphic novel format...
This is the first book in this series that I've read; I did only because it was set in a version of ancient Rome. While I could argue with some of the specifics of the historical facts, that would be the historian in me picking on the book; for kids this is an okay introduction and I liked how the facts were in side boxes so you could ignore them or read them. The art is fine and probably appeals quite well to kids of certain ages.
My biggest problem was the story itself and the action. Too slap-stick in nature, not specific enough to the time period the group of adventurers go, and not enough time spent in said era. Also why are the cats and mice about the same size?
I'm actually gonna go on a tangent here instead of writing a review. I think this book might have been my first experience of cliffhangers. This was translated part by part in my local children's comic/newspaper and I never got to read the last half of the book. After a decade or less, I finally got to read this and gotta say, it was good! It is rare that a book you sought out because of your childhood memory doesn't disappoint you.
March 18, 2017 Geronimo Stilton: The Coliseum Con by Geronimo Stilton: Copyright: 2009; Genre: Fiction; Graphic Novel I read Geronimo Stilton: The Coliseum Con by Geronimo Stilton and thought it was a very cute and interest book. This book is about a family of mice who travel back in time to stop the Pirate Cats from there evil plan. This book is full of color pictures and very little words. The pictures in this book tell the story along with the dialog. I really enjoyed reading this book because it was very short and easy to read. I really enjoyed it and I think any child who would read it would enjoy it as well. I would keep these book in my future classroom and I would recommend children from the age or 5 to 8 to read these book. These books also channel the child imagination with a lot of the details that happen within the book. All in all, I enjoyed this book and I would rate it 4 stars out of 5.
Our youngest loves the books in the Geronimo Stilton series. And although they aren't my favorite, I'm willing to oblige. When she picked out this book, along with two others, I naively thought they were shorter books, so I happily borrowed them all, only to realize that they are all graphic novels. We slowly read this book, although it didn't take us as long to read it, compared to Geronimo Stilton #2: The Secret of the Sphinx. I think I'm getting used to reading graphic novels to them, but I still don't like it and I normally only read a couple of pages at a time. I certainly hope that they start reading more of these on their own, so that I do not have to read them aloud. In any case, this story does include some fascinating history and facts about ancient Rome, so it's a worthwhile read.
I really enjoy the facts in these children's graphic novels. They make learning fun for my homeschooler. So far, I have only spotted one error in fact. On page 36, the tavernas fact scroll states "...you could eat dishes with polenta..." Actually, that would have been impossible. Polenta is made with cornmeal. Corn is a New World food that only made it to the Old World which includes Rome after 1492 and Columbus' fateful journey. (Other New World foods include but not limited to tomatoes, potatoes, chocolate, and chili peppers). Geronimo and his friends and family wouldn't have missed any of these New World foods since there was plenty of CHEESE to go around in Ancient Rome.
One afternoon Geronimo Stilton wants to enjoy his time by relaxing and hanging out with his family. But as he was walking he gets a distress call from his friend and tells him that there is an emergency. So Geronimo runs to his friend to find out what the problem was. Then when he had arrived the emergency required Geronimo to go back in time and save the colosseum. If not then the colosseum today would be shattered.
I think the theme of this comic is bravery because Geronimo os brave enough to go back in time
I haven't read any Geronimo Stilton books though they are very popular in the elementary school now. Additionally I don't read graphic novels. This book was entertaining for the kids, very colorful and bright, with a touch of history. On many pages was an aside describing something of life in ancient Rome. I think the students will read the story for just the story, but the history adds a bit to the tale.
This book is a mystery and an adventure book. The Stilton family tries to solve the mystery of the pirate cats. They go back in time to the aintient Greek times. And go to the Coliseum and catch one of the pirate cats [Bonzo]. They split up to find the two other cats Tersilla and catardon. But they find out that the cats are wearing mouse deskises. I think you should read this book if you like mystery and adventure books.
This book is about a rodent called Geronimo Stilton going back to Ancient Time! This time he went to Rome with his family and friends. There was a pack of cats wanted to change the history, will Geronimo save the time?
I think it is a good book because there's kind of a lot of funny parts in the book and I like it because I love Graphic Novels and this is a Graphic Novels, and in the beginning it shows this tube that Geronimo Stilton ,I hope you read it one day.
