While not without its faults - on occasion quite clumsy language and all too frequent and explicit opinions of Etchegoyen which show his preference for Kleinian theory over Anna Freud and her followers - this is by far the best book on psychoanalytic technique that I have had the pleasure of reading. It's incredibly erudite and precise, the latter being all too rare in the world of psychoanalytic literature. Highly recommended for anyone who already knows theory and wants to learn how to apply it.
