A very short enjoyable read.
It has an element that's not for all (including me) - instalove - but somehow I was happy with the way it was presented.
Dane has one of my fav tropes, age gap. (47 25)

It was also cute, almost angst free and hot as fuck.
I certainly recommend for those who are looking for a few hours of hot entertainment.

THIS IS HOW I REACTED WHEN I READ THE BLURB:

AND THIS IS MY REACTION WHILE I READIN':

AND THIS IS MY REACTION WHEN I FINISHED IT:

WAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? LET ME TELL YOU.
A COMING OF AGE STORY ABOUT FORTY SEVEN YEARS OLD ABOUT-TO-DIVORCE MAN DANE AND A TWENTY FIVE YEARS OLD BOYISH MAN NICK'S STRUGGLE WITH RELATIONSHIPS AND DADDY ISSUES (DENIED BY DANE).

STORY WAS NOT HOT, THE WAY YOU THINK.

CUZ THERE IS NO FUCKING FIGHTING. NO BATTLING. NO DOMINATING.
CUZ THERE IS NO TWO ALPHAS.
OR NOT HARSHNESS, NO POSSESSIVENESS. NOT EVEN BITTERNESS.

AND TWO OF THEM WAS WAY TOO SWEET AND SOFT AND VANILLA TO BE AN ALPHA, TOO.

EXCEPT WHILE FUCKING OR EMOTIONAL TALKING, NO COMMANDING. AND I WON'T CALL THAT TALKS AS COMMANDS. WAY TO MINOR TO BELIEVE, TOO ORDINARY.

I THINK WEBSTER IS VERY AWARE OF WHAT SHE DID (COULDN'T) CUZ THERE IS SO MANY "I LOVE YOU WHEN COMMAND ME" OR SIMILAR WORDS.

REALLY.

I'M TIRED OF THE "SEX-SELLS" THING. MAYBE A NEW READER OR NEW BOOKWORM WOULD BUY IT BUT I WON'T. WE WON'T. IF SHE DIDINT GIVE THAT PROMISE I WOULD REALLY LIKE THIS STORY,,, CUZ I DID. BUT WITH THIS BLURB, THIS PROMISES... I CAN NOT BE WRONG TO EXPECT THOSE THINGS.

WAT I EXPECT IS IN AND OUT OF BED, TWO FUCKING ALPHA ARE FINGTING FOR FUCKING DOMINANCE. I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT "I'M THE TOP" OR "I'M THE ONE IN CHARGE" OR "WRESTING ON BED" THINGS. DOMINANCE (NOT TELLING THE KIND OF IN BDSM) AND ALPHA ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.

LIKE A SAID, IF THERE WAS AN OTHER BLURB, I WOULD GIVE THREE OR FOUR STARS. BUT WAT A GOOD WAY TO KILL HOPES AND FANTASIES AND ESPECIALLY PROMISES. THAT'S WHY ONE STAR.

I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A SHORTY. THE THING I CAN'T UNDERSTAND IS WHY WEBSTER DID THIS. CUZ I LIKE HER PEN.

AH, AND THAT TABOO THINGS.
ONE IS AGE GAP. BUT IT WAS LIKE REPEATING "OLD MAN" OR "BOY" TEASINGS AND HOMOPHOBIC FAMILY MEMBERS.
THE OTHER THING IS BEING BOSS & EMPLOYEE.
BUT I'M SO GLAD THESE TOPICS WASN'T CHEAP-WRITTEN. THAT DOESN'T MEAN WAS ENOUGH AND I WON'T CARE. I WANTED TO FEEL AGE GAP SITUATION IN MY BONES. WANTED TO FEEL NOT JUST BUTTERFLIES BUT A WHOLE FUCKING ZOO IN MY STOMACH.

ONLY ONE THING HIT MY STOMACH:

“Dane,” he grumbles and gives me a shove onto the bed. “Get on your knees and give me your virgin ass.”

LIKE, CMON, DANE IS THE ONE WHO MUCH OLDER. I HAVE MANNERS THAT MUCH.

“Have you ever had your cock sucked by a man?”
“No.”
“The answer is not yet.”
“I’m not gay."
“The answer,” he breathes against my lips, “is not yet.”

I APOLOGIZE FOR RECOMMENDING THIS TO ALL MY LADIES. I'M SORRY.

GOD I HATE THIS COVER

It wasn’t what I expected! In the blurb, I’d read Two alphas fighting for dominance but I didn’t see two alphas (maybe just one) and they definitely weren't fighting for dominance!!! I’m not saying it was bad, no not at all, I’m just saying I’ve read better stories by her or better M/M books! It’s a quick read, low on angst, there is an age gap (22 years) and it’s palpable everytime Nick calls Dane “Old Man” (but I don’ mind). Told in dual POV, 1st person. It’s a standalone novella. All in all, it was a good read and hope you enjoy it as well!

This is the tenth story of K. Webster's Taboo Treats, all the stories are standalone and can be read in any order, or so they say, but I can't agree to that, or that they are standalone.
My reading order:
Bad Bad Bad
Coach Long
Ex-Rated Attraction
Malfeasance/Judge Rowe
Crybaby
Mr. Blakely
Renner's Rules
Dane
Preach/Easton
Lawn Boys
The Glue
Enzo
Red Hot Winter
Dr. Dan

Unfortunately, for me, there is more wrong than right with this book.
Great age gap, the boss/employee situation and the general idea of the book sounded like fun, but ...

...there was something about the crude writing I simply couldn't get past.
Everything was f***ing this and that, or shit or crap or ass or piss. I usually wouldn't blink an eye, but there was something about it all together that made me cringe.

Then there was the women 'bashing'.
Apart from Dane's daughter there is not ONE decent woman in this story. Janice was a 'bitch' or a 'pussy' (so where did all the love in Dane's house come from?) and as for the nasty foster lady with the German name (How much more clichee can you get!!!), I just can't.

And what the heck was going on with these statements?

If you want to know what insta-love looks like - this was it. One hot weekend and it was them forever. I could not find the emotional bond Dane was referring to, not even with a magnifying glass! And what was all the talk about 'fighting for each other? When did that happen?

I'm not even talking about the derisive 'old man' Nick keeps throwing at Dane. It felt better later on in the book, but right at the start I just wanted to slap Nick because I never got the impression that he meant it as a tease.

All this with a very questionable plot (Nick's father behaved totally OTT, Dane's lawyer's firm reminded me more of hook up club than a professional institution and there was a judge who owned a sex club?) and some very white and black characters.

Not for me!

Finally, K. Webster wrote an MM book and I’m one happy sated reader. It was short, quick, sweet and sexy. A bit cliché with all the fan favorite MM tropes, age difference, GFY, popping butt cherry, a healthy about of dominating in bed and sexy smut! But I loved the cliché and I liked Dane and Nick. I like that this isn’t only an erotica and there’s a decent storyline with happily ever after for everyone in the end. I hope she writes more MM in the future.

SUPER-HOT

So, I was looking forward to this book and I have to say that although it was not exactly what I imagined, it was still pretty good.

I was basically imaging

1. two mature people falling in love and not a 48 years old guy and a 25 years old guy.
But in the end, it was still ok.

2. an enemies to lovers story. Something intense with lots of fighting over dominance. Maybe a few misunderstandings. Lots of shouting and make up sex. I didn't get that. I got a very sweet story about two people finding each other when they both needed someone. One of them needed someone to protect and one of them needed someone to rely on. And they both needed acceptance.
But in the end, it was still ok.

3. two dominant males. Well, this could cause a debate but I don't think that they were both dominant. Nick’s behaviour in the beginning was more slutty than dominant. And basically when Dane learns how it is done, he becomes the dominant and the pushy one. Especially because he knows what he wants and he has no problem admitting his feelings to everyone and claim Nick.
But in the end, it was still ok.

So though the book is super-hot, in the end it becomes SUPER-SWEET. Maybe you will shed a tear or two. Enjoy! ;)

Genre: MM Romance
Type: Standalone book from Taboo World collection
POV: First Person – Dual (Male)
Rating:

Dane Alexander was on the verge of a new phase of his life. After years of being unhappy with his relationship he was ready to move on. However, he never thought it would go to the direction of a hot young thing.

Nick Stratton knew what he wanted and how to get it. When he first saw Dane, he wanted the man underneath him. What he didn’t know was Dane wasn’t going to relinquish his dominance that easily.

My chest aches as I realize Nick makes me feel something deep inside me that’s never existed before. Something strong. Something that grows by the day. Something that will ultimately consume the both of us if we’ll let it.

Both Dane and Nick were highly likable. Dane was the more stable and responsible one, while Nick was the more fun, playful one. I also like how both of them were individually exploring something new to make their relationship work. Both of them complement each other and the sex scenes were hot.

The storyline was quite simple and straightforward, but I like how it did have heart. However, one thing I keep having problem with the books in this Taboo World collection is there were too many side characters being mentioned it was hard to keep up and figure out the significance.

I’ve never known another man like Dane. I’ve never been so gutted at the thought of losing someone before, and the very idea of this being some sort of fling kills me.

Dane is a story of claiming happiness the way one deserves. It would appeal to readers looking for a sexy, easy read MM romance with taboo elements.

Dane Alexander is a successful attorney but his personal life is in the midst of a transition. Upon meeting a hunky guy at a bar, Dane starts to come to terms with his suppressed desires and he’s ready to move forward at full speed.

“There’s something tethering us together. It’s as tangible as our physical connection. You have things I need and I have things you need. Let’s give them to each other. Let’s take from each other. Be a greedy bastard with me.”

Nicholas “Nick” Stratton is a fresh out of law school with boyish charm and magnetic good looks. Used to getting his way in the bedroom, Nick propositions a delicious looking man but he didn’t foresee how it would all unfold.

“He wants it so badly. He fights for us. He fights for me, dammit.”

Together, the attraction between Dane and Nick is combustible. Without rules, they do what feels right for them, and for the first time, they both feel relief and comfort. While their relationship isn’t without challenges, Dane brings a lifetime of experience that helps ease Nick’s difficulties, while Nick reinvigorates Dane. The result is loving and smoking hot.

“Right now, you’re going to bend over that bed and open that ass so I can stick my cock inside.” Heat rushes down across my flesh straight to my dick, which rises instantly.”

Told in dual POV, getting a feel for Dane and Nick was immediate as their personalities shine through instantly. I liked how Dane is domineering and logical but isn’t afraid to take a chance despite some blowback. With Nick, he is adorable in his pouty ways; however, he exudes confidence in all the right ways.

As always, K Webster doesn’t impose boundaries on her characters and in Dane she explores the challenges both Dane and Nick must overcome. Narrated realistically, these characters are easy to like and lust over. There are also many secondary characters that make appearances from other books in the standalone Taboo series. Having only read one book in the series, at times I was at a bit of a disadvantage, but it didn’t detract from the overall storyline.

Dane is a book about second chances, acceptance and standing up for what you want. Filled with hot MM action, this one is sure to please those looking for a gratifying romance.

In honour of all the bitches and assholes in this story, I’m going to join the club with this one I’m afraid.

Pet peeve of mine. When the author feels the need to OVER EXAGGERATE the BITCH/ASSHOLE/USELESS-AIR-BREATHING-EXCUSE-FOR-A-HUMAN in the surrounding characters.

In this particular book there is no shortage of assholes or bitches. Yeah! *eye roll*

We have a soon to be ex wife, super-bitch (Bitch no: 1) that our poor main character lived with for 26 years. We have a useless excuse for a father and a mum who emotionally checked out because of said useless father.

Therefore = Asshole no:1 and Bitch no: 2 (Cause she has to be bitch now right?).

And to put the cherry on top we have a self-absorbed sister who is the golden child of the family. Hence = bitch no: 3. See? No shortage.

Don’t forget the poor “tits and lips” secretary yeah?

Dane is a “alpha-male”. Hmmmm

An “Alpha” who commands so much respect that his office Christmas parties turn into “sex-fests” right in front of his eyes. Of course this is not due to Dane’s lack of presence or rule. Nope. It’s the degrading type of human he employed at his highly successful law practice’s fault.

Office sluts, firm partners who cheat on their wives. Dane can’t very much say anything about that because he himself has been banging said office slut while still technically MARRIED making HER the slut and him the poor successful ruling partner with a terrible wife. Poor thing. So he conveniently turns a blind eye I suppose.

In walks “St. Nick” Alpha male no: 2. Hmmmm

Yeah no. I didn’t get the “Alpha” in any of these two guys. Except for Nick getting a little “bossy” in the bedroom there really was NO Alpha magic anywhere. Daddy issues? Truckloads of it.

Maybe I’m just in a crappy mood, maybe I was expecting delicious head budding Alpha males going up against each other for dominance and I didn’t get that.

I did like the kid aspect. Though the time-line is totally ridiculous in my opinion. You want to tell me a 25 year old fresh out of collage guy who hasn’t even found his footing in a work situation is just going to decide he wants to now within 5 months????

Yeah... no. And don’t get me started on the logistics of the “I-don’t-want-to-be-a-lawyer” thing. No problem “boy” I’ll fire the resident IT guy who studied this for some years and just employ you.

You know how to reboot a PC after all!

I’ll just stop now. I’m sorry but this one didn’t work for me.

I love Nick’s straight forward confidence and the fact that this is the 2nd time I’ve met him as St Nick. Everyone should get stoned with Santa at least once in their life.

I have no idea why this is taboo but the sexual tension from the get go is killer.

Oooh Nick is so bossy, I like the dynamic, that it’s the younger man taking charge. Holy smokes!

I’m glad that I’m BRing almost this entire series with Cassandra, otherwise idk if I would’ve read this one and that would’ve been a damn shame. Between this and Mr Blakely, the two that were almost the lowest on my radar have been my favorites.

I had an inkling but now I see why it’s taboo. So hot and makes their dynamic in the bedroom even better.

Daddy issues isn’t fucking a guy because he reminds you of your own dad. Daddy issues is finding everything you want/need but never had in a father figure.

You know I love the steam but what I really love is the affection. There’s nothing sexier than sharing your heart. And when they defend each other, it gives me life.

This one gave me everything; steamy af sex, two lovable MC’s, cute and affectionate interactions and an ending that left me swooning.

Being a lot of people's favorite author doesn't mean you can write all genres, especially LGBT books.

If you 're a woman, avoid this book. If you read MM exclusively, avoid this book. I'm not easily offended but damn, it's been a while since I 've read such a misogynistic piece of trash.

Oh and you know, being a guy doesn't automatically mean you have no gag reflex when sucking dick. Just saying.

Despite my initial excitement, the ratings left little to be desired. Not to mention, it seems as if the plot was plenty predictable as well. And we all know this bitchy human right here don't do boring.

Much apologies, but this one shall go into the no pile.

When you think you're reading smut, and then this book comes along with abused foster kids and makes you wail ... 😭😭😭
A strange book, it starts with intense harsh sex scenes, then Dane and Nick are worming their way into your heart quite unnoticed, though their relationship is anything but well worked out or romantic. Dane makes his claim of possession and you are impressed.

“If you lay one goddamned finger on my boyfriend again, I’ll knock every one of your teeth out.” 💞💞💞

And then these sad pages come into focus and by the end everything is all cheesy.
I'm a little at odds with this story. It was a good book, but it addresses so many things that are not well fleshed out that I now feel strangely empty even though there was a happy ending.

This book was trash.

Here's the thing, I do not like to judge authors when I do reviews since the views of characters are not necessarily the views of the author but this book mentions at least 10 women and all but 2 (the daughter of one of the MCs and an MC from another book) are all sluts. You heard that right, both MCs only ever talk about the women around as easy, whores, cheaters. All the secretaries in the office sleep with the married lawyers because that's how women work.

I am honestly baffled by how the author thought that putting down women would help make her Heros look good.

I hadn't read this author before since I just don't like the trendy MF Dark romance with lots of rape (yay fun times) but since this was MM and not dark I decided to give it a chance but yeah, no. I'm never making that mistake again.

I only recomend this book if you are a misogynistic asshole and hate women.

Heh. This was dry. Definitely tried so hard to put all those interesting tropes, bi-awakening, cold n grumpy MC, almost divorce dad, colleague, possesive, etc.. but none of them had the grip on me. The plot was sloppy as if this was written in one-go. One good thing of it was, it was a fast read.

This would have been an almost 3⭐ read for me,

🔵 even though the story wasn't that well developed,
🟣 even though the book lost its momentum about a third in and
🟢 even though this was an insta-love story that was far from believable,

but I'm giving it 1.5⭐ for one reason alone;

🔴 The misogyny in this book overshadowed the story.

Throughout the whole book women are being talked about in derogatory terms, stereotypes and the same things absolutely don't apply to the MCs, hell no.

Nick and Dane met and hooked up at an office Christmas party before they both knew they were going to be working together.

They had an amazing weekend together and I was really excited for this age gap, bi-awakening story to take place, because at this point the chemistry was very palpable.

After that weekend the love story lost me completely.

Dane and Nick have a somewhat developed love story going on that I didn't really buy, because Nick, the younger MC didn't really want to settle down and Dane, the older MC, just kept pushing, out of nowhere.

The first time they were together was great, but after that I expected a little more angst or excitement, but Nick seemed like a completely different guy after that and Dane wasn't that interesting anymore.

It's not a hot, sizzling, passionate love story, it quickly becomes bland, they're not alpha males and they're vers, so noone fights for control anywhere, so the blurb is quite misleading .

“I lift a brow in amusement. “And you’re my boyfriend now?”
“I’m sure as fuck not your boy toy,” he retorts, a devilish glint in his eyes.
“Hmm,” I tease. “When you were on your knees earlier in my office, I wasn’t sure.”

One of my favorites genres is m/m and I’m so happy about that.
All of the books that I read of m/m are awesome, maybe some of them could have been better but none of them ever let me down.
With that said, I have a huge love for m/m. And I always try to make people read them because is fantastic.
And honestly is there another genre of book that you can find everything?
Love, passion, sexy scenes, hot scenes, funny scenes, angst, heartbreak, happiness, sadness, ...... you get my point.

So why did I say that? Because I don’t see so many people reading m/m and they honestly are missing some really good stuff.

Every time that I find a book of m/m with good rating and a very interesting synopsis I’m like

I can’t get enough of it. Is just that good. And more than half of my favorites books are m/m.
If you have never read anything about it, you should definitely give it a try. You could like it.

Okay, so to this book.

As far as I know this is the only m/m book K. Webster has wrote - there are other that involves an m/m/f but that’s just not for me -, and damn this woman can write (her other books are also great).

The story has a steady pace, the romance is so hot and cute, the sex scenes are fucking awesome, the side characters are good, there isn’t to much angst with makes this a quite light read and the writing is fast and easy to read and the two main characters? I love them both.

This is very short so it doesn’t take to long to read it.
It can be considered instalove - they meet in the first chapter and in the next one they are already kissing - but they did have a development.
It goes from a one night stand to a lifetime.

Oh and there wasn’t that whole thing of “I’m not gay, I’m not gay” that some characters pull even though they just got fuck in the ass. - I’m sorry for my language, but I couldn’t find another way to put it.

The age difference is there but is never a problem in the book and I really liked that.
The last 2 chapters made me giggles of happiness, they are so cute. And the little family that they created is just freaking cute.

I definitely recommend this read. Or any other m/m book. They are good, you should definitely read it.

“This is fucked up,” I growl, my hands running up the front of his solid chest inside his suit jacket. “I’m your boss.”
He grabs my hard cock through my slacks. “And in the bedroom, I’m still the boss.”

k webs writing is SO ADDICTING, it's such a shame she doesn't write more mm.

“I’m not gay,” I bite out.
He steps forward and kicks the fridge door shut. When his big hand rubs against my cock through my slacks, I let out a long groan of pleasure. My eyes fall shut as I give in to the delicious sensations of him rubbing on me.
“The answer,” he breathes against my lips, “is not yet.”

This book made me kinda sad and also awe at the end. I dunno, my brain is not working. I think Martina drugged me thru her messages.

This book is closer to a 3.5⭐ but it was cute and sweet and addicting so I'll take the stick out my ass and give this a 4⭐

this was shockingly similar, plot wise, to another MM i just read. characters that don't realize they like men, move ins before the relationship has developed. but this one was just meh. there was tons of gratuitous sex which i thought i'd be here for but since the characters were so blah to me i just couldn't love it.

there's also an age gap... which again. i usually love. but i just didn't care.

there were also some problematic elements here. i didn't believe dane's change in sexuality. i understand that people can be closeted most of their life, they can be married with kids and then come to terms with the fact that they're not hetero. but in this case it seemed like dane still liked women but was just like "FUCK IT I CAN ONLY BE GAY."

also not a huge fan of when the male character is resentful of an ex. i prefer it when they are sad or heartbroken lol. just not here for low key woman hate.

overall sort of a waste of time. so.

This is such an amazing add to K. Webster's Taboo Treats collection.

Dane Alexander, 47, divorced and father of 26 year old Mel, meets Nick Stratton, 25, at his law firm Christmas party.
Dane has always felt an attraction towards men but when The only person I’d felt love for was Max. And it was unrequited., his best friend Max Rowe shoots him down, Dane goes into denial and marries Janice.

Dane & Nick spend a hot weekend together but afterwards Dane is not ready to let Nick go.
What started as a weekend fling for Nick and a curiosity exploration for Dane the two men gravitate towards each other and become more and more involved.

This wasn't just a may-december romance with hot, crazy sex, it was also an intense relationship with unbelievable chemistry between Dane and Nick, who didn’t just hooked up at a Christmas party, they found their half that was missing.
Had I known the night I stared at the hot older man from across the bar would lead to this, I’d have kissed him right then and proposed marriage.

Passionate , Emotional and Hot

I am new to M/M books . The last month and a half since I 'discover' this genre I found out :

1- I enjoy reading this book genre.
2- According to Goodreads book challenge, I read 48 M/M books on September 2018
3- I am always looking for the next great , must read .

Okay, now to my review. Dane is a fun and sexy read.

With Dane , K Webster show us how versatile , adventurous, open as an author she is willing to be.

In her first M/M story, she gives us an emotional, multi-layered and passionate portrayal of two consenting adults trying to find true love , self worth and themselves for their first time in their lives.

The heroes of this story Nick and Dane are charming and relatable characters. The chemistry between them and their sexy time is smutty, dirty and hot AF.

As a newbie in this trope , I find that enjoyed reading this book .
