Night has fallen. After a string of disappearances, the mountain town of Shadow Pines itself seems to have fallen off the map. In a desperate search for her brother, police officer Angela Way makes her way to the small town only to find that this is unlike any case she has investigated before. Coby Warren has been receiving strange texts lately, desperate yearning invitations from his mother calling him to Shadow Pines, a mother that never enjoyed his brief summer visits before. But this stay is certainly not like the others and Coby will have to figure out what his family’s twisted history has to do with the bizarre recent events in Shadow Pines if he has any hope of surviving the night. Night has fallen on a town that is vacant but far from empty. Join the hapless survivors as they struggle to uncover its secrets, secrets that could very well ensure humanity has no dawn.

My rating 4.5

The book "Jericho (The Organization # 2)" by Joshua Grant (Goodreads Author) Ari Bach (Goodreads Author) (Illustrator) is like the first part of the purebred horror series. The writer quickly leads us to the dark side of human minds where The Organization wants to reach God's heights in insane experiments, but in the end, ordinary people pay the price for their madness.

This story follows Angela Way, her brother Alex, Coby Warren, and his father, Jack, who see by chance, and may not have come to the small mountain town of Shadow Pines. But the place they arrived at is empty, people have disappeared, and what is left is Hell on Earth. Rescuing a living head from the damned place where morbid monsters appeared, they slowly reveal the truth about the insane experiments conducted by The Organization. Fear will creep into your bones as you read this story because due to insane experiments, we can still witness today what will happen if something escapes from the lab. To the very end, the writer keeps us in suspense, as in the first book in the series I read.

I would recommend the book to fans of horror and action.

The Organization strikes again in the second installment of its namesake.

Jericho reaches into your deepest nightmares and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

This story follows Angela Way, her brother Alex, Coby Warren and his father, Jack as they are all drawn into the folds of literal Hell on earth in Shadow Pines, where a sinister evil far more menacing than they ever imagined lies, for, once again, the Organization has its claws embedded deep into innocent lives.

Upon first entry, Shadow Pines appears to be a literal ghost town, born out of horror game Silent Hill and the movies The Thing and Resident Evil, but the clandestine carnage soon comes to light as Ange, Alex, Coby and Jack, make their way into the heart of it all.

All arrows seem to pointing them in one direction and they follow, unaware of the dark enigmas that will be revealed to them.

This one was a real page-turning, edge of your seat thriller that I found hard to put down!

As you know, I don’t do spoilers, and I won’t with this one, but if you enjoy things that go bump and conspiracies, and that things are exactly what they seem, then jump into this second book in Josh’s horror series and be sure to leave a light on once you do ;-)

This was such a good book. Joshua writes horror so well. I can't understand why this guy is better known for his work. This is the second one that I have read and I enjoyed this book even more than the first. A well written horror story with totally believable characters and unspeakable horrors! Thanks Joshua for another great read.

Police Officer Angela Way makes her way to Shadow Pines (even the name is creepy), in search of her brother.
Meanwhile, Coby Warren's mother has been sending him desperate calls to spend time with her at Shadow Pines and he is taken there by his father Jack.
Night has fallen and all the residents appear to be missing but as Angela, Coby, and Jack soon find out, they are far from alone.
What follows is a nailbiting, fast-paced horror. It is described in such detail that I soon realised I should not have been reading it whilst waiting for a hospital appointment. I was so engrossed in the book that I didn't hear my name being called and when someone nudged me I screamed and dropped my kindle in fright (thankfully it survived.) Gave everyone else a good laugh though!
The monsters in this book are truly disgusting and the pace never lets up. Just when you think the good guys will survive, another disaster befalls them.
But then there are the poems. Dotted every now and again is a poem, I presume written by the author. They are very good, also very dark. They give just enough of a break from the tension but keep up the horror. A nice touch.
If you like your horror to be descriptive, scary as hell and fast paced, you'll love this one.

This novel was very exciting, fast paced, and tension-filled from beginning to end. The plot wasn't predictable which added to the enjoyment. I felt like I was on a roller coaster with the ups and downs throughout. I held my breath more than once hoping none of the main characters would die. Just when I'd think everything would be okay, something else happened to set me on edge. The author did a great job of describing everything and I think he had fun writing this. It's obvious he's got a fantastic imagination. I liked all the characters and was rooting for each one to be saved (well, maybe there was one that I hoped would die!) and this novel kept the tension on high clear till the very end!

I watch things like this on TV, however had not really read any books in the genre. I'm wondering now why not because this kept me fully interested and entertained throughout, and when not reading it I'd find myself thinking about the characters and wondering what was going to become of them.

I almost wish I hadn't read the epilogue because it opened up a whole new can of worms, so to speak. Now I wonder how long till the next book!

Wasn't keen on the prologue which is written in the form of news excerpts from the Shadow Pines Post which I found a little gabbled. However, then the book takes off with a bang and the action doesn't stop until the very last page. You will need to be an avid fantasy fan to accept the various part-consumed human/part-beast incredible monsters that haunt the town of Shadow Pine, but they certainly worked to scare me.

Our hero is Cobes a young boy who does his best in terrifying scenarios. I found Cobes, believable and well written, especially when at one point he simply hides in a cupboard and is too scared to come out. Exactly the action of most kids, however brave, in that situation and I argue many readers would be right in there hiding with him. I liked that there is also a strong female protagonist, Ange, who adds to the sub-plot searching for her brother, Alex. Can't reveal more without spoiling the plot, but if you love full-on almost animation style fast-action this book is for you.

What a great alternative to Stephen King and Robert McCammon!
My suggestion? Read this book. It’s a dark atmospheric read. If you feel like reading something eerie, with creepy and ugly creatures in it—this is the book for you.
The novel is fast-paced, engaging, and action-packed. The characters are constantly moving, so there’s no time to get bored, or put the book away, hell—to even stop after a chapter. I wish there were hints about the origins of the virus (to say it simply—there’s more to it *winkwink) closer to the beginning of the book. I liked the creepiness of it, the shock of the initial experiments. If I say more—I will ruin the twist. And there are many. Don’t you love it when the author turns the things around by the end of the book to mess up your entire perception of what was going on?))) Enjoy!

This was a really good follow up to Pandora. It had Silent Hill and Phantoms vibes which I really dug. Not quite as good as Pandora but still one heck of a ride. Will definitely be reading the third book when it comes out.
