I think the first time I immersed myself in a new world it was the American South. I was about eleven and fascinated with Scarlet O'Hara and her world in Gone with the Wind. Jane Austen invited me to England. Alexander Dumas took me to France. Terry Pratchett made me part of the Discworld and, of course, I have traveled in the mind of J. K. Rowling, Robert Jordan, and George R.R. Martin.
And I loved every world I went to, every hero and heroine, every plot twist and love interest, ancient artifact and courageous side character.
But to me, all these worlds had one flaw. They ended too soon. Every closed book felt like a lost world.
My solution? Create a world of my own. A world I can fill with magic and heroes, with villains and gods, with artifacts, myths, and legends. Where I can dive into its entire existence, from before the creation until its demise and rebirth. A world that can live in the space that is my mind and yours. Where I give a blueprint and your imagination supplies the lifeforce.
