The Exorcism: Baby Talk, Book 3

Rate this book
It’s been six months since Neal Becker was convicted of the murder of his mother-in-law. He’s been committed to the Central State Psychiatric Hospital for life.

Meanwhile, ‘poor, innocent’ Baby Natasha is in the custody of Susan Matlow, the compassionate nurse who helped ‘rescue’ her from her criminally insane father.

Neal knows what his daughter is. And he knows he only has one chance to stop her from causing more death and destruction.

He has to break out of the asylum, avoid the intensive statewide manhunt, track down Natasha, kidnap her…

…and take her to an exorcist.

Readers of Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Peter Straub, as well as Twilight Zone fans, will enjoy this twisty, fast-paced story.

We open with Neal at the Central State Psychiatric Hospital in Midgeville, Georgia. General Sherman’s troops had camped there during the Civil War, and it has been all downhill since. He is housed with a couple hundred other criminally insane patients, BUT…

Neal knows exactly what’s going on around him, though they think he is catatonic. He is silently plotting and planning his escape. He must find Natasha and stop her.

The courts had given the baby to Susan, a nurse who had saved baby Natasha from her criminally insane father. Her mother had left her in a car with the motor running, and it didn’t end well for her either. Susan is in for a rude awakening…

I thought it was ‘funny’ that Dunwoody, Georgia was mentioned. I lived there for a short time.

Neal recruits Father Meginnis to perform an exorcism, and this is where the book took a twist I didn’t see coming…and I LOVE IT! I had to laugh.

The Baby Talk series by Mike Wells never let me go once I started reading it. Thank goodness, or should I say Mike, because I had all three books. The first is free and I highly recommend dipping your shoes into the fire.

The Baby Talk series had me thinking of Damien in the Omen, Rosemary’s Baby, Chuckie… brace yourself for the an adventure in Hell on earth. And, if Mike wanted to, the series could continue. Is Natasha still talking to you Mike? Whispering in your ear?

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Baby Talk, Book II by Mike Wells.

My Rating 4.5 stars

Firstly, I would like to start by thanking Mike for sending me an eARC of this book in return for a honest and unbiased review. As some of you already know I have read and posted reviews of the first two books in the series already. I really enjoyed reading both of them, but this one is my favourite one of all.

I managed to read this book in two days. I was so engrossed every time I picked up my Kindle that I didn’t want to do anything else.

This book continues to be creepy and dark. A great book to read to the build-up of Halloween.

I thought this third book is well written and the characters Neal and baby Natasha develop consistently throughout the three books and the strength of their development is shown in this book. We are introduced to some new characters in this third book but the way they are brought into the book makes it feel like they have been there in the background from the beginning.

I really enjoyed the twist at the end of the book, I have to admit I wasn’t expecting it all.

Overall a great read,  that I highly recommend. I think this book could probably be read as a standalone but I would personally recommend that you read the first two books.

Fast-paced fun and a GREAT continuation of the series.

Neal returns in a very creative way and takes us all on a thrill ride to remember. Hold on to your hat, there’s a lot of twists and turns.

Highly recommended!

Loved the twist at the end!! Mike Wells writing reminds me of the late Sidney Sheldon if not better.

Mike Wells' books are advertised as "unputdownable", and this latest book is no exception! The story flows at a quick pace, and constantly keeps you wanting more.

It was a while ago that I read the earlier books in this series, but it did not affect my enjoyment of this one. Whilst it may be better to have read the full series, this book can definitely be read as a standalone as Mike does well with referring to the salient events from previous instalments. This was my favourite of the 3 so far!

There were a couple of shock moments in this book that I was really not expecting, so it is definitely not predictable.

Highly recommend!

Baby Talk 3: Daddy’s Back by Mike Wells is the third (and final?) installment in the author’s Baby Talk series. It continues the story of beleaguered dad, Neal Becker, and his attempts to stop his baby daughter, Natasha, from carrying out her murderous plans. There are a couple of obstacles complicating Neal’s heroic intentions: #1, he’s in prison, and #2, he has no idea where his daughter might be.

After a daring escape, Neal is on the run, on a wild mission to locate his demonically possessed daughter… and a reliable exorcist.

Like its constantly on-the-go protagonist, the story never slows down. The author does a good job filling in the backstory for those readers who might have missed Book 2 in the Baby Talk series. There are a lot of colorful characters Neal encounters while on the run, and they season the story nicely.

In my opinion, this is the best book in the Baby Talk series. Exciting, edge-of-your-seat adventure, with an unexpected ending!

What can I say about "Baby Talk"? It's a horror story like no other!

The story opens with Neal Becker in a mental hospital. After four months, he plans on escaping to find his eleven month old daughter - Natasha. He's not sure where she is but he's bound and determined to find her.

Natasha has been granted custody to Susan Matlow; a nurse who is on disability due to an "accident". Her husband Harlan didn't want Susan to have custody of Natasha.

Detective Stan Saunders was the officer who talked Neal into giving Natasha to him. He wanted to make sure she was going to good, stable parents.

Neal has escaped and is on the trail to find his daughter. He knows what Natasha is capable of doing so time is of the essence.

Will he find her in time? What will happen to Neal and Natasha? You'll have to read to find out!

"Baby Talk - Daddy's Back" is book 3 in the Baby Talk series. It's been a while since I read book 2 - but I didn't forget how sinister and evil she is!

Mike has created a devilish baby in Natasha! What she gets away with is unbelievable! Mike's attention to detail is vivid! I was hooked from the beginning until the end! I found it impossible to put down!!

I'm a huge fan of Mike's books - as a matter-of-fact my reading journey began with him! If you are new to his books - I highly recommend all of them!

"Baby Talk" will grip you and keep you there! This is an UNPUTDOWNABLE read!!
