Another View: A Critical Examination of the Final Issue of Age of Ultron

Rate this book
The final event of the Brian Michael Bendis Avengers era came out in June 2013. In January 2014, Chad Nevett spent 31 days writing about that final issue of Age of Ultron. A strange comic containing several art teams, timequakes, the death of a longtime villain, and a reworking of an earlier issue, it became fodder for a critical examination that baffled many, enraged a few, and delighted some.

Another View is comics criticism as an act of repetition in the hope of finding meaning.

I never read the comic, but this insanely exhaustive look at one comic works. He wrote 31 articles about the comic and attempted to add and change the view of the book with every chapter. Some worked, some didn't. The ending, where he talked about the idea of retconning as form of authorial control was fascinating and it tied in well with what he wrote previously. A nice experiment in comic book criticism that worked well.
