Author Gregg Lederman has done a fantastic job with this third book - I enjoyed his previous "ENGAGE" which really showed how to embed company values in an organization. In this book, Gregg shows he really is THE expert in the practical art of getting a behavioural change to happen in organizations.

CRAVE focusses on how to successfully implement employee recognition programmes to deliver bottom-line business results. The first third of the book covers the motivational science behind why this works - it is well researched and I was shocked to know that the science proving what works goes back to the 1950's and yet still companies ignore it. The rest of the book is the best How-To guide in employee recognition I have ever read - and I'm in the industry and look at things like this for a living.

He explains and advocates a simple "10 minutes" by Friday approach to get managers to allocate a small part of their week to thinking about who to call out for a big win, small win or hard work in their team. He gets straight to the heart of a key reason managers fail to recognize people with a simple 3 step system for writing a great recognition note. With his "Action, Focus Area, Impact" model he teaches managers to write strategic, high value recognition messages.

It's a hugely empowering book - easy to read, no longer than necessary (essential for busy managers!!) and it leaves you ready to act. I've already used it with a group of 60 managers at work and they absolutely loved it.

This is a book that people should be buying in the 10's or hundreds and issuing to all managers and leaders in an organization. Highly recommended.
