I loved it. I believe it was my first book by Annabelle Love and I sure will check her other books.
There were so many feelings in this story. This was really well written, and I enjoyed every part of it.
"If the way to a man's heart was through his stomach, then Samantha had just figured out the way to a woman's... Through her son."
"What we had... that was incomparable with anything, anyone. It blew my mind... You blew my mind."
Man.. this was so deep. I could feel everything through the pages, the sentiments, the feelings growing and being discovered. It was breathtaking. I don't even know how to describe how I felt reading this. I just loved it. Anabelle just got a new fan. <3
I would give two stars for words on the paper, but I skimmed and DNF'd too much to be fair.
Premise is the h has gone to her arch-nemesis, her dead husband's best friend, to help keep custody of her son. He KNEW she was a gold-digger. What he didn't know was his BEST FRIEND FOREVER SINCE FOREVER was a coke-snorting wife-beater.
Phoned in conflict with these two plus a plethora of bad parents that promised fun but were dispatched all too easily.
Jamie and Samantha end up making a great couple in this “enemies” to lovers romance. Jamie is a force to be reckoned with in the business world and in his private life. He has one real relationship in his life and it is with his best friend Josh. He has no time nor the emotional desire to connect with anyone else. Samantha is his best friend’s wife. He despises her, believing everything that Josh has ever said about her to him. All he can see is a replica of his mother and the countless other woman in society that only care about appearances and wealth.
Tragedy strikes throwing Jamie and Samantha together making Jamie re-evaluate everything he has believed about Samantha. Will Jamie slow his life down enough to see the truth and possible find the future he never thought he wanted? Will Samantha ever be free from the shadows of her marriage to Josh? One click to find out the answers.
I really wanted to give this story 5 stars but I just couldn’t do it. The story is well written, the author does a really good job of sucking you in and turning the pages to find out what happens next, but there were in my eyes a couple of flaws to the story. First off Samantha’s son is named Erin. You read it right her SON was named ERIN. Now being the mother of an Aaron I find this to be very upsetting. The spelling used by the author is for a girl, not a boy. Why does this upset me? All I can think about is how cruel other kids can be and the crap this child will take in life for his mother spelling his name that way. I just couldn’t get past it. Secondary issue I had was with the ending. Jamie and Samantha had been together for close to a year not counting the implied year that Samantha was single before they got together, yet the characters kept talking about how quickly and rushed their feeling happened and felt, as if not enough time had passed. Then to add to that the ending itself felt rushed. I would have liked a little more form the ending. Did their engagement become a real engagement? Did they marry? Did Samantha finally find her personal path such as opening the cafe Jamie recommended? Did Josh parents have a long term relationship with their grandson? Did anyone finally except their relationship? What did Samantha’s best friend think of their relationship being real? Did Samantha ever confess to her what really happened in her marriage to Josh? Did Samantha get the help she needed to deal with all of the hurt and emotions leftover from her marriage? So many questions left unanswered or assumed. I really wanted that glimpse into their future. I liked Samantha and wanted to see her full healed and living life as she was meant to live it.
So while I really liked the story I was left wanting so much more. I feel there is enough strife left in their story to warrant another book. I know I would read it in a heartbeat.
I actually started this book two days ago. I opened this one on accident which made Good Reads think I started the book. Ultimately I just decided to read it. This was a series I kept putting off to finish. I recall the other books in it not being that great and I didn’t have high expectations for this one. It resulted in me reading different books prior to finishing this series. I kept thinking to myself, why do I want to continue reading a mediocre series when I have all these other books that I know will be better and heading in the right direction when it comes to reading a romance. I found this series to be on the depressing, sad, dramatic type. There’s a time and place for this type of mood and I wasn’t feeling it all this time. Give me something lighthearted, funny and steamy any day but occasionally I do get drawn to the more somber stories. I went in expecting this from the book so I wasn’t disappointed and it delivered, though the beginning of my review states otherwise. It’s been quite a while since I read this series. From what I vaguely remember of them, this one wound up being the higher rated one for me out of all of them. Not much came of this story and it kind of ended anti-climatically considering how it started. I thought this would be high emotion, stakes and suspense but it turned out to be very tame and sleepy but a decent story. There isn’t really any steamy moments in the book, just two instances and the book could have done away with much more and in more detail. It was just a battle between Josh and Samantha on who can make the other feel better with comments and actions. This book had way more dialogue than what I’m used to because Samantha and Josh were talking all the time. I just wanted action and motion, more emotion too. This fell flat to me, especially since it seemed like Josh and Samantha were nervous and upset most of the book. I give this a 4 because Josh and Samantha’s conversations were deep and meaningful and the story was good.
I received this book as an arc directly from the Author. Asked to leave an honest review. She was a first time read for me. I will definitely read more of her books.
I loved it!!! This story of Josh and Samantha, one time enemies into lovers, had me at the get go. Was happy to have Josh find out his best friend of many years was a complete liar, douche bag and abuser and actually was willing to realize the truth of that and not make Samantha out to be anything but the abused. Was so glad the story went this route. Their relationship progressed quickly and pretty smoking hot once they realized they had some long underlying feelings for each other that they were able to start exploring . Josh was willing to step in withErin Samantha’s son very quickly and you felt he really wanted to and it came across as very believable. I do wish there was more in his reaction to his friends awful parents when they tried to threaten Samantha with taking their grandson Erin. Ooh that woman’s behavior deserved far worse than what she got.
Was a great easy read and I wanted more!! Forgiveness, compassion, romance, love, this book has it all. Thank you to Author Annabelle Love for allowing me to read this book. I look forward to the next one.
This book was very well done. Two adversaries come together for the sake of a child. Josh discovers he really didn't know his deceased best friend. And his feelings about Samantha take a turn neither saw coming. He starts out just trying to help her at her request. She knows Josh doesn't like her, and the feelings are mutual. But the longer they are around each other, the more Josh finds out about Sam's situation the relationship changes. They were a great couple and brought out the best in each other. This was a great read and although this book deals with some heavy stuff, it's not a heavy book. It basically focuses on healing and coming to terms with someone you thought you knew. But Josh and Sam are great for each other as she loosens him up and he lets her know it's okay to not be perfect. And they are honest with each other, almost to a fault. The relationship builds realistically and the chemistry they have is unbelievable! Read this and enjoy!!
This is a wonderful enemies to lovers story There is lots going on in this book Jamie is a great business man who has his life all sorted out he takes that control into his private life as well. He only has one great friend Josh he is married to Samantha a woman that Jamie hates because he thinks she puts too much pressure on his friend to give her the lifestyle she wants this leads to tragedy. Was Josh they great guy that Jamie thought he was what is the secret that Samantha has been keeping and has they are thrown together will the passion fare between them You will need to read to see
I was given a copy of this book but this is true and honest review
Believing Her: An Enemies to Lovers Fake Fianc'e Romance
Awesomeness, Romance, Sexual, Drama, what amazing steaming hot sexual relationship between the two character's in this story! Of course not in the beginning there was basically hitting of spouse and yelling like madman that her husband became after they were married. The husband was in to drugs and in debit, but that didn't stop him from the abuse he did to his wife! Then one day he was partying with everything in a form of alcohol and drugs, we died from it! Then his mother and father blamed it on her, stated to take her baby away from her..... Need to read the book! ENJOY it very much!!
Main Characters: Josh & Samantha I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author. 5 out of 5 stars This is a well written enemies to lovers and a fake fiancé m/f book. I thought Samantha was a strong, independent widow until she found out she needed help from her late husband's best friend. Josh knew a lot of things about Sam but were they all correct? The banter between the two m/c was great. I do not want to write too much about the story because I find it so much better to read it for yourself and you be the judge. Highly recommend.
This is a great read. The story of what happens when you find out that your best friend was not who you thought he was. Josh and Jamie had been friends their entire life, Josh thought he knew him, but when Samantha approaches Josh for help with the in-laws after Jamie's death Josh discovers that he really didn't know his friend and that his friend had not been honest with him. What starts out as Josh helping Samantha with a fake engagement soon turns into something real that neither can ignore.
I received an ARC of this book and have voluntarily left a review. I enjoyed this book featuring Samantha and Josh. Samantha was married to Josh's best friend, who has passed away. He didn't like Samantha based on what he was told by her husband. Samantha reaches out to Josh for help. There is drama involving her child and her in-laws. This was an entertaining read with a strong female character (my favorite).
Samantha's husband has died and now his family wants her son. She goes to his best friend to ask for help. Josh has never liked Samantha, because of what he has heard. Will he believe Samantha when she tells him? Will he help her keep her son? What will Josh do when he finds out its true? Will he set aside everything from his past and help her? I received a free copy for my honest review.
I chose to read and review this book. this was a great book to read I enjoyed it. it is such a real touching caring book. I liked how it dealt with real-life issues abuse custody and so much more that one can connect and feel everything she felt and how her husband hid his dark side very well and surprises are around the corner in each chapter it is worth reading you really see inside the mind of a victim of abuse I recommend it
Believing Her by Annabelle Love. This is Samantha Garrett and Josh Lewis’ story.
This book hooked me from the beginning. I really liked the characters and the banter between Josh and Samantha. This was an emotional and heartwarming read with intense chemistry.
FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Very well written story of a hard topic. Learning your best friend wasn’t who you thought, helping his widow whom you thought you hated and watching as her son lights up your world (along with his mother) really shakes up a guy’s foundation. Follow along and watch how Josh handles all this new information to find the best thing that’s ever happened to him.
This was a surprising good story. I usually don't like best friends ex story lines. But the different take on it was very refreshing. I loved the slow burn chemistry between Josh and Samantha. But once they gave into the chemistry man did they burn up the pages. What a great romance story. With a HEA Happy reading
Enemies to Lovers that was only that way due to Samantha trying to be brave in spite of her life. Once Josh knows the truth then he helps her fake an engagement to save her son from her InLaws. Great read about 2nd chance love and healing.
