4 M/M/F Stars
I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this book, since the first book is about Lucia and Soren and now it’s Lucia and Soren’s brother Zun. I liked Zun from the first book, it was hot and I kind of wanted something to happen between Zun and Lucia.
Overall, the book is meaty. The beginning was the best part because there was so much sexual tension between Lucia and Zun, it really made you glued to the book. I read the book in one day.
I liked the interactions between Zun and Lucia, but I wouldn’t have minded more of Soren. Yes, Soren is still in the book because that is her first mate, but the main focus of the book is Lucia and Zun’s new relationship and the person trying to kill Lucia which we don’t know.
I liked how Lucia is the princess and she has the baby and everyone doesn’t like her. It was interesting to read her interactions with different characters. I will admit, towards the last 40% of the book I kind of lost interest because it became more political and well I wanted more steam, but there is plenty of steam in the book.
So I did a lot of skimming probably the last 30% of the book.
Overall, I enjoy these books and I will probably finish he series, but it’s not a series I can binge read because they are mighty long.

Loved,loved ,loved it !!!! Even though I wanted smack Lucia a few times...
Ok,well for me this about a good as a sequel could get I really could get enough of the stories or characters only a few things bothered me but even soo it was one of those stories I NEVER wanted to end and I honestly hope there is more at some point.
We got to meet more of Soren/Val'ja's family, some good,some Not and some grew on you ;) Again wonderful world building and a very enjoyable book, but a few thing got to me like I said,one was a reviewer ( before I started reading) who made it sound like the menage that happens in this book is just thrown in willy nilly and like Lucia suddenly just jumps into bed with one Soren's brothers without his approval or not,which honestly bothered and confused before started reading thinking how odd that sounded for the characters I thought I knew and then REALLY TICKED ME OFF after I started to read what actually was happening in the book... Ok ,if unlike me your NOT fan of menage,that's perfectly fine ( even though IT IS spelled out this happens in the books description!) but don't misrepresent its actions or how it happens either,that not fair to the book or the other readers!
Now Supposedly Val'Zun one of the brothers from the 1st book started to develop feelings for Lucia before they left her home planet and before they back to his and Soren's home world He's asked Soren if he can became Lucia's mate as well ( it's a tradition on their world) ,Soren is honored and thrilled to know his brother cares and if anything were to ever happen to him someone would be their for Lucia and their child,but it take Lucia a good while to warm to the idea and even Zun has mixed feelings at times.. Their relationship moves at what feels like a natural pace though ,they both the have issues to work through but they do and it was really sweet.... My other problems ? One Where was Lucia's sense at times ? Ok, new baby and planet and ppl and new possible mate etc. I get it per say but the same time when someone tries to kill her and the others around her are soo naïve as to who it could be when the time comes they are almost down right stupid about it, assassination attempts lead to their planet being invaded and after a while proof come that shows the pool of suspects it pretty darn tiny and yet!! And yet! If the person in question. ( which I figured out a quarter of the way through) hadn't gotten soo frustrated by their failed attempts to kill her and her baby they lost it and tried to kill her in front of everyone I don't think ANY OF THEM naïve family would have gotten it even it SHOULD have been obvious to them all :( That and and the overly big deal Lucia made out marking her mates... Ok maybe it's me but don't ppl still get tattoos in her time ? Or pierce their ears or anything ? Seriously it wasn't a big deal, Soren's ppl didn't wear rings or collars ( i hate that in books where males "collar" a female) ( BDSM or not) ( and maybe I'm used to it with PNR books where shifters or Vamp.s are always wanting to leave some sorta mark ( usually a bite) to show the mate in question has been claimed) and in another series I've read set in the future ppl show claims with tattoos) but anyone who's happy to be with their mate wants "something" to show Hey! I'm claimed!! Someone wants/loves/cares enough to want to claim me for their very own!! We all want that even now.. And that all her males wanted and it bugged me how she just didn't always try to see things from their pov all they while complaining they were doing the same to her... Lucia supposedly had had soo many adventures and seen soo many things but seemed to have "baby brain " something for most of the book,yes she was in a difficult and over whelming place but it felt like she'd lost who she was for most of the book... But I Loved it!! Will keep it to read again at some point and how read more from this author again some time in the future ;)

There's only so much squealing and giggling I can take from the heroine of a story before I start losing all respect for her.
Also, I'm not much one for menage e trois in my romance on the best of days, and here... It was almost like Soren no longer existed.
I'm a bit confused, overall. I was looking forward to this book. The first book in this series wasn't perfect but I did really rather enjoy the originality, the characters as well as the twists and turns of the storyline. Reading this one, I found the characters suddenly rather unlikable, the atmosphere stale and the plotting lazy to invisible. I don't quite know what to say.
Even the way the "mystery" was solved... No. Just no.
And now I feel a bit mean. I want to like these characters again.
Eh.

I’ve been on a bit of Sci Fi alien romance run recently, luckily I am not the only one who like their heroes which extra parts and jewel toned skin. Some of our lovely followers of the Under the Covers Facebook page love it as well, and this series was one of the recommendations I received. In this review I will be talking about the first two books in the series: The Melier and The Melier: Homeworld. They focus on the same characters and is basically one big ol’ book split into two parts.
What I liked about this book and what grabbed my attention straight away was that the tables were turned. Normally it is a poor human woman who is kidnapped and her sexy alien mate saves the day. However, in The Melier our heroine Lucia saves our hero from slavery and gives him a chance at a brand new life. Unfortunately, Soren – as named by Lucia – has no memories of who he is or where he came from.
Soren. What an alien. If you like your aliens weird and alien then Soren is for you. Being 7 ft tall, with 4 arms and blue skin with some different alien equipment you won’t mistake him for a earthling. However, despite his intimidating look I loved Soren; as much as a 7ft, blue alien with 4 arms can be adorable, he was adorable, I think it helped that he purred when he was happy.
This was a great romance, however, I didn’t think it was a particularly sexy one. Despite loving weird alien differences unfortunately Rhys didn’t quite manage to make sexy times…sexy. Maybe because she focussed too much on how different Solen was from what you would usually expect rather than making the scene sensual.
In the second half The Melier: Homeworld Soren has recovered his memories and we go from Lucia’s home to his. And it’s clear that this couple are on their way to becoming a triad. I enjoyed this book just as much as I did the first part, we were introduced to members of Soren’s family who I really hope get a book of their own.
I also had the same issue with the second book that I did with the first it just wasn’t hot. Despite the addition of another sexy Melier. However, as the book wasn’t flooded with loads of sex scenes it was still a sweet alien romance/adventure and I was hooked.
If you like sci fi romances with aliens as heroes this is for you! If you don’t like your romances a little ‘out there’ then you will probably want to avoid this, it’s not every bodies cup of tea. For myself, I am already desperate to read the next book in this series and see what other wonderful alien treats Poppy Rhys has in store for me.

3.5 Mixed feeling Stars

No matter how much I like Poppy's writing, it seems its not enough to give her a full 4 Stars. She never gets there, no matter how much I try squeeze it out of me and find excuses for her.
I really enjoyed this one, but obviously some things were missing...
How can I say this?
Just like the first book, we follow Lucia again in another stage of her life. She's married to an alien prince, has a thing for his brother and is totally lost in their world. Politics, racism and social confrontation.
Though the author maintains her style, the premise of this book drags and falls into an unending routine of hysterics, which I disliked, because it didn't help you enjoy the intrigue or the plot. It suddenly became a teenage soap opera... The pace changed in comparison with the first book and I found myself a little bored in the middle of it.
Poppy's universe, and characters are very rich. And each convey a different and very defined personality. Which is one of her strengths. Still in this instalment, the main characters seemed a little sloppy, and I can't recall a memmorable scene like in the first book. Having such an established strong character like Lucia, it just dissapointed me a little, because there is no real change or impact in her life. Or at least it didn't feel that way... Adapting to the new society was a little shady because she was in her room most of the time. Her rivals rarely appear... She's always running and scared. Which is a contradiction to the first book. Her baby is a pop-up, just so you remember sometimes she has a child and her uncle adores her!
It seems like she lost her guts back home... Her essence!
I liked the second brother though and was really entertained with his depth and background. I liked his personality and his actions around our heroine. He was interesting and at the end of the book, certainly the best character out of all the lot.
Also, I found myself being pushed into action scenes and a sudden explanation. It was just not enough and didn't feel enjoyable at all. It wasn't satisfying to see a main character turn from a challenged powerful woman to a flimsy scared crazy person who can't decide what she wants and just isn't herself anymore.
The plot twist was entertaining and it compensated for the boring crazy parts in the middle.
And potential ingredients from her first book were left out. Well most of it, except the goo that is...
To conclude, previous book was a pearl from the ocean compared to this and this sample wasn't necessary at all.
So no, this did not reach my expectations and I'm hoping the third book proves to be better.
I bid you farewell and hope future reads are fab!

Lucia arrives to the Melier home planet with her daughter, mate Soren/Val'Ja and his brothers. She is not welcomed, rather the hatred towards her is palpable. She has little hope that Soren's family will accept her.
Val Zun is the surprise element here and his relationship with Lucia takes a surprising turn. I was disappointed with Lucia as a mother. Baby Re'Len always seems to be on the sidelines and almost never with Lucia.

Nothing Like the First Book
This book read a sad continuation of the first book. I understand that the author is trying to build and describe the culture, but it was a turnoff for Lucia to be involved in a sexual relationship and mate with one o Soren's brother.
I would have enjoyed the book if it had been a story about one of Soren's brothers finding their mate.

The first half was all about Lucia and Val’Zun. I didn’t end up caring for this and missed Soren. Also, it was all pretty boring with so many dropped or useless plot points along the way.
Things finally picked up half way through and Soren appeared more, but I wasn’t feeling the whole dynamic with the three of them. It just didn’t fit or flow well. At all.
When the assassin was revealed I wasn’t too surprised who it was, and really appreciated how the Queen handled it with an order of execution. The traitor had allowed the Melier’s most sworn enemy onto their planet, resulting in a large number of deaths. Execution is a given. But then Lucia opened her stupid mouth and pleaded for mercy because somehow not taking a life makes her a good person? What a whiny, weak twit she turned into in this second book.
Like the execution order should’ve had anything to do with hurting Lucia feelings? Fuck. That. An execution order is the only thing that should come from betraying one’s planet and people, allowing innocents to be murdered, when they were supposed to be its protector.
Keeping the traitor alive would accomplish nothing but grow their seeds of hatred and revenge, creating future danger and conflict. And why? Because killing would be sad? Jeezus.
I loved book one, but this one took a nose dive into an empty pool.

Although this story builds on the first one, it is not nearly as good. The lack of trust and associated lies really detracted from this established couple. The major new element here was not handled well, and there were large gaps in the development of the relationships.
I like the central characters, but they need to get away from home.

I didn’t love this one as much. It’s more a me thing than anything else. Its MFM which isn’t my favorite. While the steamy scenes were pure fire, I took some issues with the relationships and how they worked in general, would of like to see certain things turn out differently. Still a lot of fun with lots of political intrigue thrown in.

The second book "The Melier: Home world in the "Women of Dor'Nye" series was a boring and underperforming attempt of a sequel.
The author failed to make me as a reader comprehend and believe in the aspect of polygamy.
It is not believable after reading the first book, considering the protagonists reaction and standpoint to this matter.
Of course, i am a reader who grew up in a mostly monogamous believing culture, so it is not easy to make me see any appeal in it for myself. But so are the beliefs and culture of the people of Dor'Nye. And the one eighty Lucia did on that matter, was not believable, her reasoning was ridiculous.
So, i don't mind reading and are actually open for different cultures and their beliefs, but i have to be able to comprehend them.
For Melierun's society it might be part of their culture, but i as a reader never got to know that.
In the aspect of Val'Ja's tradition and culture he grew up with, apparently sharing a mate is normal. But i never got to know his alter ego, as a reader. I only got to know Soren. And Soren did growl and pace and not really tolerate for other males to even look at her in longing. But as soon as his brother shows interest, everything flies out the window. So it made no sense at the end of the first book, for him to tell Zun, jap sure, let's share my mate. So i knew it was coming in the second book, but i thought it would have merit.

So it made no sense at the end of the first book, for him to tell Zun, jap sure, let's share my mate. So i knew it was coming in the second book, but i thought it would have merit.
I kept skipping to only just read the parts of the storyline without the Zun aspect and their supposedly growing attraction.
The heroine Lucia in this book was more of a whinny, needy and pathetic immature woman. Like she lost her spank and intelligence after being mated and having a baby. She even showed rare signs of any maternal tendencies.
Contrary to the Lucia i met in the first book.
The plot was predictable and lame.
All the creativity and uniqueness of the first book, what made it a quick and fun read, were missed in this book.
All in all this book was lacking big time although in the easy entertaining section.

Lucia was just as funny in Home World as she was in the first; yet, she wasn’t in “heat” the way she found herself so many times in book one. What she did find herself in was a difficult situation. She travels to a planet where humans are abhorred, and she is treated like something to be scraped off the bottom of one’s shoe. This was really very heartbreaking to witness from Lucia’s POV. The Melier truly hated her just because of what she was, and never took the time to get to know her. Lucia puts on a brave face and endures, determined to make headway in the alliance between humans and Melier. Her courage was commendable.
Throughout her ordeal in dealing with the Melier’s blinding hatred, she also has to deal with the possibilities of taking on a second mate. It is Melier tradition and custom for brothers to share a mate, and at the end of book one, Val’Zun asked Soren if could join with Lucia. Soren left it up to Lucia. What to do what to do? One hunk or two? LOL! Lucia is appalled by the idea of taking on a second mate, and can’t understand the practice; but slowly, and with more time spent with Val’Zun, she changes her mind.
I personally felt that there weren’t as many explicit scenes in Home World as there were in book one, and for once I am OK with that. I know that is a shocker. I really enjoyed the story. The only thing that kept it from being 5 stars was, I guessed who the bad guy was pretty much right from the start. I hate that. When it’s supposed to be a mystery, I want it to be a mystery. I don’t like being able to figure out the plot and the end of the book from the beginning; which I did, yet at the same time, I still very much enjoyed getting from point A to B, even though I knew the destination in advance....Sara

3.5 stars I really did like the book. I felt that the relationship between Lucia and Val' Zun progressed at a realistic pace. What got on my nerves was Lucia's behavior at times. She seemed to be throwing constant tantrums for no real good reason except to get her way. The only one allowed to do that in this book is Re'Len and ironically she barely fussed. Other than that I liked the progression of the book and the world building that gave us a deeper look into Melierun's culture and of course more green goo

I'm not sure why I continued reading. The sweet love story from the first book virtually disappears here and it is an entirely different thing. I still liked Lucia but I'm not really into menage romances and decided to skim due to that (and perhaps I should have skipped all together). Soren hardly felt like he was part of this book.
I'm thinking about trying the next book since it is a standalone.

Lucia will try to bring a connection between both the worlds not only for trade, but for the harmony of Lucia's new family. Of course everything doesn't go smoothly and there are obstacles in the way.

Lucia and Zun and Soren
I found this a worthy sequel to "The Melier" The characters remained true to the original book and the world building was just as detailed.
Lucia, Soren and his two brothers Zun and Ren return to their home world. The Melier people are very unaccepting of other species so Lucia is going to try and break down their prejudice. It doesn't go well. And someone is trying to kill her which makes the brothers hover even more than they did before.
My only problem was Lucia's side of her relationship with Soren, it seemed to just disappear once they arrived on his home world. And why would she turn to Zun first after Lenny's birth rather than Soren. Just seemed out of character for the relationship they had in the previous book.

This is the continuation of Soren and Lucia's story. Lucia goes with Soren/Val'ja and his brothers back to their home planet. She tries to integrate into life amongst a race who was raised to hate humans.
On top of that, Soren's brother wants to mate with her as well. Something Lucia is NOT okay with. Not to mention Val'Zun was sort of cold and acted annoyed with her most of the time. Now usually I'm not okay with the whole sharing thing. But this was so gradual that you started to have feelings for Zun and you end up wanting him to be happy too.
This was a fun read, a lot of action and suspense. I liked how Lucia slowly won her new family over. Especially her mother in law.
After a second read: I have a different impression. I still loved the book. I loved the story that was happening beyond the love story. But I kind of want to drop a star on my rating. I won’t because that rating was based on my first impression of the story.
But I just didn’t connect with the love story between Val’Zun and Lucia. Even knowing it was coming. This is the reason I have a hard time with RH. But especially when the first book is dedicated to one couple and then they add someone in the second book. There were so many scenes building the relationship between Val’Zun and Lucia that her relationship with Soren didn’t feel as strong as it once did. And like I said, I just didn’t feel a connection between Zun and Lucia. I liked her relationship with the brothers, all of them. I wish it would have stayed that way, a brother/sister relationship. And each of the brothers could have their own stories. But this just felt forced.

So Lu and Soren leave her homeworld and head to Melior to find out all about Soren's family. I felt there was much less of Soren in this book. He was always off doing something. I think his reverted personality wasn't as endearing as his slave simplicity. But overall, this book was just not for me.
Lu basically seems to dress in different sheer clothing and do very little apart from wander round the royal apartments being protected. Her mates keep information from her to 'protect' her which I just find tiring. What happened to the kick ass bounty hunter?
The ejaculation is still going strong in this book. There is just a lot of goo squirting everywhere. There was even some bad alien goo which I really didn't enjoy. I wish that part had been less traumatic. Now we have a scared, damaged heroine which didn't really add that air of self development which I find fullfilling. It was just grim.

Great story
Having read the first book in this series and thouroughly enjoying it, I was pleased to find the rest of Lucia, Soren and Zun's story to be just as entertaining! It is necessarya Hae to read the first book in order to understand the second. In this continuation of the tale, Soren and his brothers return to Melierun, their home planet, along with Lucia and their newborn baby girl. They knew it would be rough since the Melierun people saw humans as a disgusting, animalistic species. Much emotion and mayhem ensue. The real point of this story is a good one. That prejudice is a learned behavior, handed down from generation to generation, and is only destructive and uncivilized. The story does have a HEA, though I do hope the author will write stories for the other 2 Melierun brothers. I'd certainly read them!

Lucia abhorrence of violence was annoying & had me constantly rolling my eyes. This book just didn’t do anything for me. There was no discernible plot. The only real conflict in the book was underwhelming, & it wasn’t fully explored or explained. Like what was the intergalactic agreement that was made? Why did the Trepins withdraw? You would think those would be big important plot points seeing as how that was the only real plot point of the book, but it was entirely skimmed over. It was disappointing to say the least.

This sequel loses the essence of the first book, Soren looks like passes to the second plane and the story it's about Zun and Lu. I don't have problem with that until I can see the relationship between Soren and Lu lost intensity like he doesn't care about what Lu might feel or simply he doesn't pay attention to her anymore and it's frustrating because I fella in love with Soren of the first book and how he loved Lu to death

I was disappointed with this one
I was very excited to read the second novel in the series after completing the first book in record speed. The brave Lu in the first book turned into a whiney, clueless.... idiot in this the second book. The mating with the brother did not seem well thought out and not naturally planned. Near the end, I started rushing through the mess to get to the end (I did not do this with the first book). The ending sucked ... What hsppened ??!!!!

I really loved these 2 Meliers books, great action, great plot and great characters.
I really hope that you will continue this book series.
I would love to find out what happens next with the Melier Royal Family with Lucia, Soren (Val'Ja), Val'Zun and Lenny. I hope that Gi'Ren and Val'Koy will also get mates.

I really enjoyed the first book I thought it was a good read. This book I didn't like that Lucia mated with his brother. The author should of kept Lucia character the same. Lucia character in the first book would of never been with two lovers let alone two brothers. I though t this book was an ok read but nothing like the first.
