May 24, 2025Omg this is so gross. i picked this up precisely coz it’s cringe. even so, i only read a few dozen pages despite ironically enjoying at first (because sometimes ppl r so sincere in their unreflectiveness which can be entertaining if you’re in that kind of mood.)
Hong Kong has historically sat at the intersection of many economic superpowers and cultural influences. U d think it would have the best of all worlds but so far I only get to see the worst of each. Ofc, it wouldn’t be fair to say that based on just this one pop book, but it’s a pattern mapped throughout my reading history. Still, hope isn’t gone—there have got to be good books.
