Forbidden romances should be exactly like this.
Nicholas Rune is just mind blowing, his humour, his hidden ruthlessness, his charm, every thing about him is just awesome. I loved his changed appearence. It suited him much better.
Heidi has described him well, a trickster. Applauds to her on that. She herself is also not someone to be shadowed by Nick's charms. Oh I loved how she, despite her former lifestyle, is such a strong soul. Her life wasn't fair to her, really wasn't. But the purest of hearts do suffer the most of the pain.
Heidi is the light to Nicholas' darkness. Both of them have had a childhood no child deserves yet they have grown into such different types of individuals. So different yet the same. Perfect for each other.
The author is a magician with how she subtly leaves hints here and there connecting the books which at first seem like minor semi useful details. Since I've read the third book too i can now understand unopened mysteries that Nick had left for us to wonder about.
The part where Nick collects books as souvenirs from his 'missions' to be a habit related to Leo was an explanation I was waiting dearly for. It's a little psychotic type... But understandable seeing their characters.
The ghoul's first appearance gave me a heart attack... I was scared of them throughout the whole book... But Bambi and the Duke changed my point of view of them for the better.
Amazing book, Alexander saved the day & that's what matters. Alex is my favourite dark witch for a reason afterall. π
