He was sent to guard her body… he didn’t expect her to steal his heart.
Her sister’s wedding was hardly the place to find a hook up, but after one look at friend-of-the-groom and special operative Josiah Grant, small-town Texas beauty Magnolia West immediately fell in lust. As tension mounts and the menace closes in, Josiah will do anything to prove to Maggie that their love is real…but can they stay alive long enough to share it?
Shayla Black is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of more than 100 contemporary, erotic, paranormal, and historical romances. Her books have sold millions of copies and been published in a dozen languages.
As an only child, Shayla occupied herself by daydreaming, much to the chagrin of her teachers. In college, she found her love for reading and started pursuing a publishing career. Though she graduated with a degree in Marketing/Advertising and embarked on a stint in corporate America, her heart was with her stories and characters, so she left her pantyhose and power suits behind.
Shayla currently lives in North Texas with her wonderfully supportive husband, her daughter, and two spoiled tabbies. In her “free” time, she enjoys reality TV, gaming, and listening to an eclectic blend of music.
I loved it so much, it was super hot, passionate and sensual!I loved how the characters met in the wedding and I liked that they were flirty with each other! I was hooked and I couldn’t put it down because I simply loved Josiah and Maggie!
I couldn’t get enough of these two they were so hot together!Whenever these two were together it was like an explosion! They are my new top favorite couple and I wish we had more of them!
This goes to my favorite books, I love Shayla’s books but for some reason this one touched me more! If you are looking for a hot book with a swoon worthy hero and a sweet and sexy heroine this is perfect!
Good story with a suspenseful ending. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When I looked up the list of books by the author I was surprised at how many books she has written. I need to grab a few more as I really enjoy her writing.
This upcoming book has a great mixture of romance and suspense going on to keep the interest level high. The author gave us some great characters that were not perfect by any means. In fact, Maggie had some issues that prevented her from being a character I enjoyed as much as a typical romance. But the ending made up for a lot of what I did not like earlier in the story.
I loved the unique plot and the twists that Black kept throwing out there. The supporting characters were surprising and even a bit creepy in many ways and that kept those pages turning!
With a great plot pulled from the headlines and wonderfully developed characters, Devoted to Love is a mixture of suspense, sexiness, and surprises. Definitely worth the read!

Devoted to Love is a standalone book in the Devoted Lovers series. First two books in the series focus on the guys at the EM Security company.
First book is focused on Cutter Bryant and actress, Shealyn West. Book 2 is Josiah Grant and Magnolia West's story. Maggie is Shealyns sister. The book starts out right with Maggie and Josiah meeting at her sisters wedding to Cutter.
As the wedding is located at Maggie and Shealyns grandparents farm, The guys of EM Security learn of the Enlightenment Fields people. These cult-like neighbors have been harassing the farmers to sell their lands next to them and there is some suspicion of foul play involved.
Josiah agrees to stick around after the wedding to look into this cult. If that gives him some time with Maggie, all the better. One look at Maggie and he was completely smitten. A few days and nights with her is just what he needs.
While Josiah tries to figure out what's going on with the cult, his crush on Maggie grows expediently. It's the last thing he wants or needs, but Maggie has gotten under his skin and he can't get her out. The same can be said for Maggie. Maggie has trust and commitment issues but Josiah may be the one man who can earn that trust.
With any small town setting, there are a lot of side characters that bring a lot to the story. With the danger that increases as the cult gets desperate for the neighboring lands, more EM security men come to lend a hand in Josiah's investigation into the cult. We get a few hints to possible new books in the series.
What to expect in Devoted to Love? Intrigue, suspense, and a wild heroine who needs tamed and a hero who looks forward to taming her.
This review was originally posted on Addicted To RomanceI received this book for free from Berkley Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Devoted To Love is the second book in this new series of Shayla Black's and boy I actually haven't read this author on her own. I, of course, have read other books where she has co-authored novels, however, this is the first time I took a chance and picked her up on her own and I was very IMPRESSED. This isn't a perfect book by any means but instant love connections don't really work for me that well to be honest. Sometimes they do, but in the contemporary setting's it's not always my favorite.
In Devoted To Love Josiah has come for a wedding and meets Maggie who he has insta lust for and they pretty much have the best sex and really click physically. At first it's clear that its just casual sex, no strings attached. But when there is a danger to Maggie and her family, Josiah stays behind to look into the matter and before he knows it he is caught in and windstorm of danger and he knows that there is more going on than meets the eye with a crazy cult fanatics who are trying to buy the land from Maggie's family. There is also the matter of falling in love with a woman who may never be able to love him back....
Devoted To Love was simply a fun and thrilling read and I had so much fun with this one. I first want to start off with the issues that I had with the story. The first is the fling set up, to be honest, this is what really prevented me from really feeling the emotion and connection between them. There was too much rush from just casual sex to love you like crazy. I know it happens, but it didn't seem as realistic as I was hoping for. Now the second issue I had....the heroine. Now I try to be as accepting as I possibly can be however, there was something about her past that really rubbed me the wrong way and I just couldn't let it go and it might have altered how I looked at this book.
Now for what I truly adored about this book here? Well here is the low down, we have the plot of the story which is as intense as you can get. We have a crazy religious cult and boy this really added into the intensity of the story. I really liked how it developed though and seeing the danger escalate throughout the story. What impressed me most was seeing how the relationship and the suspense plot didn't detract from one another. I was fully invested in both and the author here really found a great balance. The characters that come into play are a unique match. They are both strong-willed and there is some control bedroom play here. I wouldn't call it full BDSM or anything like that, but our hero is a natural DOM, so he does like to control things in the bedroom. So I always love that in my stories and Shayla Black surely knows how to write a steamy sex scene, it can get pretty intense and dramatic but I was all for it.
Overall I found Devoted To Love to be a sesnation, highly provacative, intense filled story that will keep you on your toes from beginning to end!
Shayla Black is a TOP favorite author of mine. She has been for some time now... You really can't go wrong with any of her books. To me, they hold just about everything that a romance should, and then some and Devoted to Love was no different. It held suspense, thrill, hot as hell steamy scenes, and a blinded love story that I could not get enough of. Ms. Black weaves her words together and creates and masters everything she writes and with each book of hers she proves to me she can write just about everything and it is still amazing!
Devoted to Love is a mixture of suspense and romance and it most certainly a unique plot, which is no surprise to me, one thing I know about this author is that she likes to mix things ups, she likes to push boundaries and she likes to make a plot and storyline that is almost impossible to forget.
Maggie and Josiah were two of a kind, yet they were two characters I couldn't help but fall in love with. Maggie was smart, beautiful and loved living on a ranch with her grandparents, but after meeting Josiah at her famous sisters wedding, things start to change.
Josiah was there as protection, and he never knew that this job would ultimately change is his life. He was hired to continue to protect Maggie, and normally he knows where the line is drawn and that he can't have any kind of personal relationship for the women he works with, but that all changed when it came to Maggie, that rule went out the window, he just couldn't help himself when it came to this woman.
The chemistry between these two is electrifying, it was intense and from the moment these two met, I was cheering for them. Things aren't always as they should be, and for these two, I certainly did not see what was ahead, and that is one major thing I love about a Shayla Black book. I honestly never know what I am going to get, but I do know and did know it was going to be epic and it sure as hell was.
As much as I want to dive into this with every detail, you need to go into this with your mind open to anything and everything to happen.
I absolutely adored these two and loved how the author played them out. Two people so different in so many ways yet they were a perfect match and bounced off each other perfectly. Once again, Ms. Black nailed it flawlessly and exceed my expectations and blew my mind.
I absolutely love when I get sucked into a story and it doesn't let go until the very last word, and that is exactly what happened with this book.
This book had everything from two likable characters, a whole lot of suspense, some crazy AF people to keep things interesting, the I'm supposed to protect you not fall for you drama, to a whole bunch of sexy time in and out of the bed!
There is no question as to why Shayla Black is one of my absolute FAVORITE authors. When I start one of her books I have to be sure I have nothing planned otherwise I will definitely be cancelling because I don't want to put the book down once I have started it.
In Devoted to Love Shealyn and Cutter are getting married, we met them in the first book of the series DEVOTED TO PLEASURE, and everyone is there to celebrate their nuptials which means Cutters hot co-workers are there to party as well as protect. When Josiah locks eyes with Maggie he was instantly attracted to her but he soon learned that one taste wouldn't be enough.
As I mentioned before this story has a LOT going on and I really don't want to spoil anything so I am just going to say grab a copy for yourself, you wont be disappointed!
Happy Reading!!!

Devoted to Love (Devoted Lovers #2) by Shayla Black 4.5 stars M/F Romance Triggers: Cult thinking, Murder, Kidnapping I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
Magnolia (Maggie) and Josiah are an unlikely couple. Maggie has been raised by her grandparents and loves living on the ranch with them. With her famous sister now married, Maggie knows that life will go back to being the same and different, all at once. With a relationship with her own mom that’s strained, even though Maggie knows that her mom is trying intellectually, it’s hard to forget or forgive the abandonment she still feels.
Josiah loves his job. He is surrounded by a good group of men and even though they have rules about relationships developing between those who need protection and protectors, he just can’t help himself – Maggie draws him. When he learns that there is a strange group nearby who are trying to get Maggie’s grandparents to sell their land, and even stranger “accidents” start happening, Josiah knows that he will do anything to protect her.
What follows is a story about love, honor and devious behavior that leads down the wrong path. People are dying around town and with no explanations, Maggie and Josiah will have to use their observation powers to figure out who is behind it.
This is a sweet story that has an alpha protector, strong woman who takes no prisoners and people who just want what’s best for their community. It was very entertaining and I can’t wait to see if more books spring from this story.

FINAL DECISION: Enjoyable story, sexy, sexy times with a suspense/mystery story that kept me interested throughout. I liked these characters and how they reluctantly fall for one another.
THE STORY: Weddings are a natural place for hookups. When sister of the bride, Magnolia West and friend of the groom Josiah Grant agree to a no-commitments, no regrets one night stand, they don't anticipate that there is something really strong between them. Two people who have been hurt and closed off end up spending time together as there is danger around them. And the more time they spend together, the more Josiah and Maggie can't imagine being apart.
OPINION: This book begins with one of my favorite romance book situations -- romance at someone else's wedding. Josiah and Maggie intend to take full advantage of the wedding atmosphere and enjoy some no-commitment sex. But then things happen. There is a mysterious murder of a neighbor and some possible danger for Maggie and her family which requires Josiah to stay on in town to help protect her and find out the truth of what is happening. Of course, this allows Josiah and Maggie to get to know one another better -- something neither wanted at first.
Maggie is a woman who keeps herself at a distance from others. She has fear and abandonment issues and is just protecting herself. She also has had really bad luck in the romance department. She is a woman who fears connection and yet is starving to be connected to someone and have a happy ever after. She just fears so much something negative happening that she keeps her distance. I loved that we get to see how quickly she learns to trust Josiah. She opens herself up to the possibility of love and is rewarded.
Josiah is a man who has been burned before and has no intention on getting serious with a woman. But then he meets Maggie and she appeals to him on a deep level. They are physical matches and he finds himself loving the challenge she presents. She is smart and stubborn. Josiah is a deeply protective guy and while he respects Maggie, there is no doubt that he intends to be the alpha protector.
The suspense story here is intriguing as I kept wondering what was going on behind the group threatening Maggie's family. Information is given at a good pace and I was always interested in what was going on in the story.
WORTH MENTIONING: Can I admit that I really want the story of Brea and One-Mile?
CONNECTED BOOKS: DEVOTED TO LOVE is the second book in the Devoted Lovers series. This book has a self-contained romance so it can be read as a standalone but there are overlapping characters.
STAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.

5 Star reviews of Devoted To Love (Devoted Lovers #2) by Shayla Black
I fell hard and fast for special operative and bodyguard Josiah Grant; he ticked all the boxes for me and I found him to be totally swoon worthy. Magnolia West has made mistakes in the past and hooking up at her sister’s wedding isn’t really the best idea, but when she meets Josiah, she cannot help herself, after all it’s only for the night. What's the worst that could happen?. The chemistry between Josiah and Maggie is of the charts and it burns brightly, although neither of them are looking for happily ever after which makes for a nice change. When these two meet you just know that they will be perfect for one another. If they can both move on from their pasts, then they may have a chance. When danger makes an appearance, will Josiah be able to protect and save Maggie, can he prove to her that his love is real and that it worth taking a chance? The suspense and intrigue led to quite a few unexpected twists and turns that had me guessing for much of the book. There is romance, drama, smoking hot scenes and anxious moments. As I have come to expect from Shayla Black, Devoted To Love is extremely well written and highly entertaining. I received an ARC through the publisher via NetGalley.
I’m a sucker for the whole bodyguard trope in romance fiction. Pretty sure it’s the breaking of the rules and its prohibited nature LOL It makes the story sexy for me and Devoted to Love did not disappoint!
Maggie and Josiah were quite the match. They sparked in all the right ways. It was both entertaining and sexy to read them. The mysterious/suspenseful/captivating group causing all kinds of havoc for Maggie and her family was written perfectly. The story was equal parts exciting on that front and the lust filled journey of our leads.
I’ve enjoyed Shayla Black’s story-telling skills for a long while now but in the past years, it’s gotten better and better as I read. I mean I don’t want to jinx it LOL but I’m starting to think she can write a grocery list and I will read it! LOL So well done! Cannot wait for more!
The heat between Maggie and Josiah started high and it never lowered. A wedding was the perfect time for romance but, initially, that is not what either of them said they wanted. A quick fling, some fond memories and then they would go their separate ways. All was grand until annoying emotions got in the way…
Shayla Black knew how to weave suspense and sexy in just the right doses as Maggie and Josiah wound their way through a landmine of love obstacles as well as life-threatening danger. Josiah was all alpha protectiveness which worked just fine (whew, did it ever!) even as Maggie pushed back. Hard… Maggie was independent and sassy as she chafed at the restrictions but reveled in the relationship building.
Tension and chemistry, danger and a host of possible suspects meant this was a ‘don’t stop reading until the end’ read! ~Diane, 4 stars
Devoted to Love by Shayla Black is book Two in the Devoted Lovers Series. This is the story of Magnolia West and Josiah Grant. I have read (and Loved!) the previous book and you do see where Magnolia and Josiah meet at the end of that book, but I feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Magnolia and Josiah hook up at the wedding both thinking a quick hot encounter but it ends up being more. Magnolia's grandparents and near by other farmers are having some trouble from a group of people in something of a cult. So Josiah and his team ends up staying to see if they can help out. While Josiah is busting the case on the cult he is also working on his feelings for Magnolia, something he didn't expect but no something he can walk away from. Magnolia was the happy ever after women but the more she is around Josiah the more that might be changing. This was a hot suspenseful read...Loved it!
He was sent to guard her body… he didn’t expect her to steal his heart.
Her sister’s wedding was hardly the place to find a hook up, but after one look at friend-of-the-groom and special operative Josiah Grant, small-town Texas beauty Magnolia West immediately fell in lust. After a stunningly sensual night together, Maggie is prepared for the two of them to go their separate ways. After all, she’s not a happily-ever-after kind of girl. But Josiah—and danger—change her plans.
Josiah isn’t looking for love…but Maggie rouses his body and stirs his heart like no other woman. She’s got a rocky romantic past, and a smart man would steer clear. But when the murder quotient in Kendall County rises and all signs point to a mysterious group nearby who have been harassing Maggie’s family, he can’t leave her unprotected—especially when he realizes he’s fallen hard for her.
As tension mounts and the menace closes in, Josiah will do anything to prove to Maggie that their love is real…but can they stay alive long enough to share it?

REVIEW: DEVOTED TO LOVE is the second full-length instalment in Shayla Black’s contemporary, adult DEVOTED LOVERS erotic, romantic suspense series. This is former CIA agent and EM Security special operative Josiah Grant, and rancher Magnolia ‘Maggie’ West’s story line. DEVOTED TO LOVE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Maggie and Josiah) DEVOTED TO LOVE follows the building relationship between former CIA agent and EM Security special operative Josiah Grant, and rancher Magnolia ‘Maggie’ West. Josiah and Maggie met at the wedding of Maggie’s sister Shealyn West and Josiah’s friend Cutter Bryant. A one-night stand leads to something more when the suspicious murder of a neighbor leads to the investigation of a cult known as the Enlightenment Fields and its’ leader Adam Coleman. Enlightenment Fields is amassing land in and around Comfort, Texas, and the West Family ranch stands in their way. What ensues is the growing love and relationship between Maggie and Josiah, and the potential fall-out as Enlightenment Fields targets Josiah and Maggie, and Maggie’s family ranch.
Maggie West struggles to accept that Josiah wants anything beyond a one-night stand. Prickly, petulant, defensive and stubborn Maggie’s attitude reflects her fear of abandonment and never finding love. Josiah Grant doesn’t waste any time pushing all of Maggie’s buttons but our hero is determined to claim Maggie as his own. With the Enlightenment Fields cult threatening anyone who refuses to cede, Josiah and the security specialists from EM Security must take precautions to take down the people involved.
The relationship between Josiah and Maggie is one of immediate attraction but Maggie is headstrong and refuses to accept that their is a happily ever after in her future. Josiah Grant is a Dominant in the bedroom but Maggie refuses to give up control. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate, and erotic with some mild scenes of spanking and discipline.
There is a large ensemble case of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Shealyn West and Cutter Bryant; EM Security co-owner Logan Edgington; security agents Zyron and Trees; Pierce ‘One-Mile’ Walker and Brea Bell; Maggie and Shealyn’s grandparents Glenda and Jim West; deputy Kane Preston; 911 operator Dixie Hill; ranch foreman Sawyer; and several members of the Enlightenment Fields including Mercy, Marcus, Michael and Adam Coleman.
DEVOTED TO LOVE is a story of family, friendship, betrayal and love. The fast paced premise is engaging, entertaining, and captivating; the characters are numerous, dynamic and determined; the romance is seductive and steamy. DEVOTED TO LOVE is a suspense filled that is sure to catch your attention.
Her sister’s wedding is hardly the place to find a hook up, but after a stunningly sensual night together, Magnolia West is prepared for them to go their separate ways. He isn’t looking for love, but Maggie rouses Josiah Grant’s body and stirs his heart. A smart man would steer clear, but the murder quotient in Kendall County is rising and all signs point to a mysterious group who have been harassing Maggie’s family, so he can’t leave her unprotected.
Following these two strong, vivid characters on their tempestuous journey to their ‘happily ever after’ is one entertaining read that stirs passions, stimulates the mind, arouses emotions and captivates hearts. The chemistry between Josiah and Maggie sizzles with electricity from every page and makes for a lot feisty and fiery encounters whether they butting heads or engaging in steamy intimate moments which keeps things real interesting throughout this volcanic romance.
The plots is fast paced and full of thrilling ‘keep turning the pages’ suspense that keeps readers glued to those pages. The group that Josiah feels is responsible for the deaths in the County gives off some seriously freaky and slimy vibes that readers can practically feel radiating from the pages (good thing good vibrations from Josiah and Maggie eclipse those) and readers really become caught up in all the intrigue. Rollicking emotions, passionate encounters, stunning twists, fancy footwork and a sexy overprotective male ensures that readers can’t put this stimulating and entertaining read down.
Devoted to Love is sensuous, seductive, exciting with a good measure of action tossed in. All things that Shayla Black excels in. She spins yet another powerful tale filled with intrigue, suspense, danger and romance. Josiah and Maggie are so explosive together that I thought my tablet might catch fire. Whew!! Outstanding characters, equally excellent storyline with some familiar Wicked Lovers characters and a couple of new faces thrown in...it doesn't get any better than that.
This one was better than the first book, but I still had a hard time buying into the insta-love, especially considering the past of both characters. I found I was more investing in how far the cult next door would go to get the family land and how did not everyone in town not see what was happening.
While attending her sister’s wedding Magnolia was not expecting her attraction to Josiah, a friend of the groom’s, or that they would enjoy a steamy wedding night even if they weren’t the bride and groom. They both have their reasons, but neither of them was looking for anything more than one night until suspicious activity in town has Josiah investigating what is going on.
Magnolia’s grandparents are being pressured into selling their land and they aren’t the only ones. Josiah is determined to find out who is behind it and why, but as the chemistry between them escalates so does the danger. Will Josiah be able to keep Magnolia and her family safe?
Suspense, action and hot chemistry combine as two people who weren’t looking for love find it in the most unlikely of places.
Josiah Grant and Maggie West first met at Maggie's sister's wedding. It was "lust-at-first-sight! A one night hook-up just wasn't enough for Maggie and Josiah. Complications from a cult-like group very aggressively trying to buy Maggie's grandparents' ranch meant Josiah had to go into protective mode. With assistance from fellow operatives from FM Security he set out to solve the problem. Maggie was determined to help. That led to more complications but didn't stop the hot, sexy nights.
Devoted to Love is the second book in Shayla Black's Devoted Lovers series. This is a true edge-of-your-seat, can't-put-it-down book. I loved every minute of it. Shayla Black is a masterful storyteller and in this case will delight her readers with a super sexy and hot, super suspenseful read. Even after I finished reading Devoted to Love I found myself still entralled with the story. I loved Josiah and his most competent, masterful way in the bedroom. He's definitely my new book boyfriend. Five for Five! Just sayin' - sigh.

This is the second book in the series, and I would recommend that you read them in order, as why would you miss out on any Black goodness? The story starts with the wedding of the two protagonists from book one, and gives you some insight into the lives of the leads in this story, so really does add something to the story. That said, this would stand up on its own, if you are impatient to start! We also get a few nods to Wicked Lovers from past series – which made me very happy.
Maggie and Josiah embrace their chemistry at her sister Shealyn's wedding to Josiah's colleague, Cutter. Both happy to ignore emotions and enjoy the passion, they spend the night together. And much as Josiah plans to get back to his life the next morning, the recent murder in the town causes him to pause. A local "community" is buying up land, and it looks like Maggie's family ranch is up next. And his sense of duty, and one tends to think, his attraction to Maggie, makes him keen to resolve the issue.
I loved the level of creepy surrounding the cult – it was just at the perfect level of crazy, worrying, and despicable! Mercy was so disturbing, she gave me the shivers.
As the story played out, and Josiah and Maggie come to mean everything to each other, it is not just wondering about how they will make it work, but whether they will get the chance to try. I loved the level of drama, side by side with the inner turmoil they both feel at this turn of events.
Another fantastic read from Shayla Black. Luckily, I am now a veteran, I stacked up snacks and hid myself away until I had emoted my way to the end. Expect laughs, tears, and deep breath moments along with some requiring a fan!
Mary – ☆☆☆☆☆ 4.5 stars
For Josiah, finding love was not something he was looking for but spending the night with Maggie would be the perfect way to end his time at his friend/coworker’s wedding. When he first saw Maggie, he felt something deep inside, but he didn't want to listen to his true feelings. He had been burned before.
Maggie didn't believe that love was in her future. When she loved someone, they left her. Except for her grandparents and her sister. She lived with her grandparents and her sister just married the love of her life. But Maggie knew that love would not happen for her. When she saw Josiah before the wedding, his stare did something to her.
After their night together, Maggie tried to push him away, but Josiah wanted to help her stop the neighboring group from bothering them about selling their farm. What he learned while at the other farm had him worried for Maggie and her grandparents.
Will Maggie give Josiah a chance at a relationship? Can Josiah show Maggie that he will not hurt or leave her? Can they find out just what is going on at the farm that seems to be sketchy?
I love Shayla Black and her writing style always pulls me into each story I read. This one had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what would happen next. I highly recommend this author, no matter what you read you will not be disappointed.
Mary Jo – ☆☆☆☆ I have to say this is one of the better books I've read in a while. The story was well thought out, and the characters had chemistry.
It's not every day that we come across a female lead that owns her sexuality. Maggie doesn't shy away from what she believes will be a one-night stand, or the fact that she cheated on her ex- fiancé. Granted, it appears that she and her ex weren't exactly in love, but still. She owns her decisions.
Josiah, on the other hand, believes in complete honesty. He was once on the flip side – the person being cheated on – and he has no desire to hook up with a woman that would potentially do that to him. However, he's man enough to realize that every story has two sides and listening to both is what makes a man good feel about himself.
The twists and turns in this story are believable and I can't wait to read the next story in this series.

Devoted to Love by Shayla Black is book 2 in the Devoted Lovers series. This is the story of Magnolia(Maggie) West and Josiah Grant. Josiah and Maggie first met at Maggie's sister's wedding. They ended up having a sizzling one night stand and from there, Maggie ends up becoming Josiah's client. A cult-like group becomes very aggressive in trying to buy Maggie's grandparents' ranch and uses intimidation tactics and threats in doing so which put Maggie and her family in danger. Josiah is determined to protect Maggie and her family from harm and in the process, finds himself falling deep for her. Maggie struggles with trust issues from her childhood that affect her relationships today. But something about Josiah has her wanting to open up more and let down her walls. He has her experiencing feelings and desires that she hasn't felt before. Will Maggie let herself be open to love and let herself have love in her life, namely with Josiah? Will Josiah be able to keep Maggie safe and figure out the cult's nefarious deeds before Maggie ends up harmed ? This is fast paced, steamy, hot, exciting, suspenseful, cant-put-it-down, full of feels, emotional, dramatic, romantic and just guaranteed to make your reading experience a great one !!! I enjoyed the main characters and secondary characters- can't wait for book 3.
Josiah Grant doesn't do love or relationships, he traveled down that path once and he still feels the burn from it every once in a while... and it's not something he wants to try a second time. But after a chance meeting at a clients wedding he begins to rethink his stance on relationships, the moment Maggie wanders into his view, he is completely taken with her and her feisty attitude. But she too has her hang-ups about love, and swears she just wasn't cut out for it...
But when danger strikes in Maggie's little town, and Josiah insists on sticking around to protect her family, they can't help but be thrown together. And before long they can't imagine not being in each others lives after it's all said and done... but are they ready for what that little fact means?
Within the pages of Devoted to Love readers will meet two stubborn souls who have serious hang-ups about love and relationships. But as we all know love knows no bounds, and they are about to find out that the harder they try to resist it, the harder it is for them to deny! These two were meant for one another, and while their bodies seemed to agree on that little fact, their minds and hearts were a little slow to catch up, so the angst is a little high with this one. While they were fighting their feelings for one another there was also danger lurking, so there was a bit of suspense and excitement to be found amongst the pages too. I really enjoyed this newest installment in the Devoted Lovers series, it had everything you could want in a romance, and the steam level was off the charts... these two had me blushing more than a few times!! Highly recommend!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
Review: DEVOTED TO LOVE: A Devoted Lovers Novel by Shayla Black https://wp.me/p3d0RZ-baU Publication Date: July 2, 2019 Genre: Contemporary Romance Reviewed by: Reading in Pajamas/ Donna Rated 4.5 Stars
This was my first Devoted Lovers book and I had no problems keeping up with the characters. The beginning started like any other “meet at a wedding” trope, but the hints of upcoming danger added a nice edge. The smoking hot sex scenes also built onto the growing tension. Josiah is a Dom, but that didn’t overshadow their relationship or the story, rather it added a lusty heat to the bedroom. I connected with both characters to a point – I didn’t quite feel the love between them, only the lust and like. That didn’t ruin the story for me as their relationship and trust did build despite Maggie’s on-again/off-again behavior. (The “due to their pasts, they were both leery of any type of relationship, but powerless to stay away from each other” angle.) As for the antagonists in the cult, thankfully they weren’t completely stereotypical, instead showing a nice depth to their evil. I enjoyed this read and can’t wait for the next installment.

Let's just start by saying I am a very picky b*** when it comes to romantic suspense. On my teen years suspense and mystery were pretty much all I read and I think it stained me for life. If it drags even a little I just can't do it. And the middle section of this book certainly dragged.
That being said, the romance was sweet, believable, and the characters were more than likable. They were far from perfect but their imperfections also made them relatable. Josiah was there for protection, but his attraction for Maggie was too strong to deny. He was devoted to protecting her and in the end there was no way to avoid it, he was also devoted to loving her. Maggie was a sweet small town girl with a norty streak known by all; Josiah was warned a few times to stay away. I liked her ferocity and determination to stand against the people trying to take her grandparent's ranch. I liked their chemistry too. There was never any doubt that these two belong together and would eventually make things work.
The plot was weird and at times on the verge of creepy, but let's face it, suspense is best delivered that way. It keeps you on edge... the whole cult thing going on was nuts. This book takes small town weirdos to a whole new level!
4.5 stars For Josiah finding love was not something he was looking for but spending the night with Maggie would be the perfect way to end his time at his friend/coworkers wedding. When he first saw Maggie he felt something deep inside but he didn't want to listen to his true feelings. After their night together, Maggie tried to push him away but Josiah wanted to help her stop the neighboring group from bothering them about selling their farm. **A copy provided by the publisher through NetGalley and this is my honest review**
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, twists & turns, steam, suspense, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Devoted to Pleasure (Devoted Lovers #1) Devoted to Wicked (Devoted Lovers #2)
This is Maggie and Josiah’s story. Maggie and Josiah meet and have one night and she thought she could walk away after that. But when danger comes calling Josiah is there to help. Neither are looking for love but what happens when they both star to fall. As danger gets close Josiah knows that he will do anything to protect her. Can he keep her safe and maybe even keep her forever? Or will she run from danger and him also?
I loved these characters and the side characters. I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

4.5*s of pure magic!
This is the second book in the series, and I would recommend that you read them in order, as why would you miss out on any Black goodness? The story starts with the wedding of the two protagonists in book 1, and gives you some insight into the lives of the leads in this story, so really does add something to the story. That said, this would stand up on its own, if you are impatient to start! We also get a few nods to Wicked Lovers from past series - which made me very happy.
I loved the level of creepy surrounding the cult - it was just at the perfect level of crazy, worrying and despicable!
Luckily I am now a veteran, I stacked up snacks and hid myself away until I had emoted my way to the end. Expect laughs, tears and deep breath moments along with some requiring a fan!
