Positive Thinking: How to create a world full of possibilities

Rate this book
Traditionally, the positive thinking philosophy that has permeated Western society advocates that you will achieve whatever you want purely by thinking positive thoughts. On the contrary, at its best, this practice results in success for some individuals, but overall, for the majority, it does not! This book will re-define the true meaning of positive thinking for the 21st century and show that there is more to it then we know. The author, Neil Francis, will explain that it is actually our motivating ability that enables us to create new possibilities. It is then up to each individual to decide which opportunities are achievable and realistic and - therefore - worth seizing. Positive Thinking explores the ways of creating new possibilities so that you make the right decisions to live a more balanced, meaningful and contented life.

It's an interesting book. It says it doesn't treat being positive as other books have but (not to sound negative) it does. I think it gives good examples and stories the reinforce why some of the suggestions are useful and work. I thought it had a more practical advise then "Just be happy" "power through it" or (my personal favorite) "Just smile" however at least for me, it was not super new information. But then again.. good or bad I do like to think I'm always on the cutting edge of mental health.. so..
The book is in two parts and I can tell you .. you feel it:
Part 1 are chapters 1-10 and Part 2 are chapters 11-17 (Duh!)
I think chapters 1-10 were really engaging. I would say they were the chapters that made me think I should buy this book and have it around as a reference. While not new, I really liked how the information was displayed and it hit home for me in a lot of ways. The author had a stroke and used that to start a second career in writing. Just a lot of things I could connect with and realizes negative things do happen but how do you really look at them or let them shape you. #keepitreal
Chapters 11-14 were---personally--- just fillers. It's a short book and these felt very forced and not at all genuine. I'm sure you could read them and get something out of them, but it was so disingenuous that it cost the man a star! #nomercy
Chapters 15-17 felt more like they were for CEOs or managers that would then require all staff to read the book. Very good sales technique, kind of a mishmash but better then Chapters 11-14. Which also feels like they were fillers but who am I take a star away for shameful promotion and trying to make a sale. #Beyourbestself

Overall I would say that if you are looking to start the year off right and "learn" techniques that will work towards being a more positive person and reach your goals I think you can get some good information from this book. In theory I feel I shouldn't rate this book until the end of the year and see if A: I did anything and B: If it works, but... I don't want to do that. #nohate

Very interesting approach!
The book is mostly high packed set of tools, techniques, and references, which all explain the power and possibilities, which the Positive Thinking opens.

I thought it'd be an easy read. Instead it turned out to be a lot of note taking, and this is hard to do, when the book is paper.

I recommend the book to everyone, who world like to quickly get to know more about this specific subject. I'm sure that no matter how skeptical you are about such books, you'll find something in it, which will help you tremendously.
