Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman #19

The Hitwoman and the Gold Digger

Rate this book
Just when she thinks she may be catching a break, Maggie Lee is saddled with babysitting her psychic friend, Armani, whose spirit guides have suddenly deserted her. They never warned Armani that she’d be robbed while waiting for an online date who stood her up or that someone would break into her home.

But investigating the trouble in her friend's world isn’t Maggie's only problem. Someone shoots her avian pal, Mike, and Maggie is determined to find out whom.

Neither task is easy, but Maggie's difficulties are intensified by trying to keep her unruly household running in the absence of Aunt Susan, who seems to have dropped off the planet.

And oh yeah, Maggie's ne'er-do-well dad has returned to town.

Can Maggie successfully juggle her investigations, cops, bad guys, a reporter, her menagerie and her crazy family? Or will it all be too much for her?

Maggie and the gang are back! Armani is in trouble and Maggie is playing private private investigator to help. I absolutely LOVED this book! Like every book in this series, I devoured it in one sitting! JB Lynn never fails to make me laugh. I can’t get enough of this series! I’m ready for more, Ms. Lynn.

LOVED this book!!! This is a fun story with Maggie and her menagerie, as they try to investigate the burglary at Armani's home and who shot Mike (the bird). Along the way, Susan disappears, Armani's scrabble letter clues make no sense, and someone is out to get Maggie.

This is a quickly moving story that fans of the genre will love. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about all of Maggie's exploits in this novel. Additionally, I really appreciate how Maggie has grown and changed over the course of the series.

If you enjoy quirky and fun mysteries with a bit of romance and paranormal, then you will love this book. While this is part of a series, this is a stand alone novel, however, its so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all. Put this one at the top of your TBR list. The author is on my must read authors' list.

Maggie having the luck she always has is waylaid by friends and family from all directions. Her friend Armani is stood up at a restaurant which is then robbed. Scared she moves into the B&B with Maggie and her family. Then her house burns to the ground. Now that's tough luck. JB Lynn works her usual magic and you get a entertaining and sometimes nail biting story with twists and turns galore. You get sucked and then suddenly it's over and your hungering for more. You could read this as a stand alone but for the most enjoyment you might want to start with book one. You'll be glad you did.

Maggie has Armani as a house guest after Armani's house blows up! Lawrence & Susan are still on their vacation and unreachable leaving Maggie with all of the responsibilities. Investigating for Armani, Maggie stumbles on an old crime involving her dad. With a little help from sexy investigative reporter Jack they put clues together much to Patrick's dismay (he's still harboring something for Mags) and puts everyone in danger. Destruction & quite possibly death are in store for the entire family and pet menagerie. Twisty, fun, & surprising!

I loved this book! There is nothing like a Hitwoman book to brighten my day, make me laugh. Maggie is back. There a some questionable gold coins that seem to surface, both at Armani’s house, given to her mother, somehow involving her father, Archie. She is called on by Armani to investigate when Armani is robbed at gunpoint at a restaurant and stood up by her blind date and then has her home burned down. Poor Mike is shot by a BB gun and Maggie is called on to be a vet! Maggie investigates while Armani lives at the B and B and Susan is MIA and the household is falling apart without her. Maggie of course comes through and figures everything out with the help of Dee Dee, God, Mike, Benny and Piss and gets out of more than one life threatening situation. Not much about Angel in the book, but Patrick appears with a cameo by Delvecchio. Can’t wait for the next one! This is a wonderful series!

This is a great book; this is the nineteenth book in the Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman series written by JB Lynn. Poor Maggie Lee can’t catch a break. There is so much going on for Maggie, her psychic friend Armani was robbed and her house blew up so she has asked Maggie to help her find out what is going on. Then Maggie’s aunt Susan is not answering any phone calls which is odd. Someone shots Mike her friend who is a bird. She then has to track down who shot the bird. To top things off Maggie’s dad has come to town and that is never good. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I love this author’s sense of humor. She writes the story and lets us all know about the animals in Maggie’s life. Now there is Ian, her brother, who also can chat with the animals. This story is pretty funny especially when the possum shows up. She sounds like Lauren Bacall and uses the lines from her movie. Made me chuckle. In this episode of ‘what else can happen’ to Maggie, she actually is serving as the adult in the B&B while Susan and her boyfriend are on vacation. All the usual characters show up and Maggie saves them all. Let’s see, there is a wounded bird and Armani’s in trouble and Archie shows up at the fancy restaurant and .... on and on. You must read it to enjoy it all BUT be sure to start with the first book or you won’t totally understand the interplay between them. Great series.

As Always Hilarious ! This lifts my spirits.

Maggie always has something going on and can't say no. This puts her in some precarious situations which with the help of her animal menagerie either helps or hinders. They love her along with her crazy family. I love to see characters return to help such as Patrick and Ian the long lost brother. I wish the young boy that hurt Mike could have been addressed in his situation of abuse. But maybe that will be in the next book. I can't wait for the next installment. Will Mags retire as she has led Delveccio to believe or will she be catapulted into yet another situation where she will have to save the day along with Godzilla the Anole lizard, Dee Dee the Doberman, Piss the stray cat, and her other animals that she has gathered into her fold. I guess will just have to wait and see.

Never long enough.

I love all of the Hitwoman books. I love in coastal GA and anoles (God) are everywhere. JB Lynn's character Godzilla (God) is so realistic I expect my anoles to talk. Each book presents a new animal helping Maggie and this book gave us an opossum. What's so cute about the books is the animals individual personalities are spot on for the type of animal.

The human characters are just as diverse as the animals. A disabled psychic, a couple sets of twin sisters, a lothario with a nymphomaniac fiance, a mob boss trying to go legit, or is it his identical twin brother, a red haired cop that's also Maggie's murder mentor, and a Mom in the nuthouse. If you haven't started this series you should. My only complaint is Lynn doesn't write fast enough.

I love this series because Maggie is like the Energizer Bunny and keeps going no matter what! Phone calls in the middle of the night, apartments broken into complete with burglar inside, animal veterinarian services-you name it and Maggie handles it! I love her ability to talk to and understand animals, and the "trouble" that can cause!

Two things...
1. I didn't care for the "new" cover style and would prefer one more like the other books.
2. Unfortunately, the books are too short, leave too many things unsettled, and it takes too long between books! JB Lynn is a great author and never fails to write an entertaining story. Can't wait for the next book in the series which will be #20!

I absolutely love this series! I gave in and bought the next 7 books. Many I read in one day. I love all the interaction with the animals and she keeps introducing more and more of them as it goes along. At the end of a hectic day, I look forward to just opening up the next book in the series and losing myself in all the antics. It's a peaceful way of unwinding. I never give 5-star ratings, because I always believe there could possibly be more to add, but this series would continue to receive a 5 from me if I did. I have recommended this series to friends and can't wait to read the next 7.

Outside of her very first "hitwoman" book, I found this one to be the funniest yet. I just love the interaction between all of the animals & I like the addition of Ian, too. But unless I missed it, didn't Maggie eave one anagram unsolved? The anagrams are great & a nice addition to the story. I have to admit, though, I wasn't quite sure what the ending meant. Guess we'll just have to wait & see.

Love this hitwoman series so much! Maggie is such a quirky interesting character. I love how she is always there for her friends. Maggie can talk to animals which is a special gift! Lots of action and interesting storyline. Maggie gets into more than she expects to helping her friend Armani. She also has to find out who shot her avian pal Mike. Her Aunt Susan has disappeared and also her dad is back in town! Wow what a story! You will love this book as much as I do!

I love this series and always look forward to reading the next release. This one does not disappoint! This includes a lot of the characters that we love and a character that we haven’t heard from in awhile. The writing as usual is spectacular and entertaining. The characters are developed enough that you feel drawn into the story and can’t wait for the next installment!

I just have a few questions

Why why why doesn’t she get a dog door? What happened to fix up the fact they can’t pay for the looney bin? Why is she still keeping the brother a secret? Why does she let god talk to her like that? Why is she living at the BnB she should have sooooo much money considering it’s $100,000 a hit?

White Knuckle Ride!

This was the best Hitwoman book yet! So many scares & so much destruction. Of course all my favorite animals are back & 1 adorable new addition. The ending was quite shocking & I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

I love this series

And hope it never ends. When normal life gets to be too much you are guaranteed a pick-me-up when you start reading a JB Lynn Hitwoman series. DeeDee, God and Piss are the best.

Please, please write more about Maggie!

Spoilers
We need more stories about Maggie and Ian. Does Maggie get together with Angel? Does the B and B get rebuilt? Was there gold? Did Archie use the gold if there was gold to help? These burning questions and more NEED to be answered!

Back Funny

This book brought the funny back. Seriously, saved by a butter knife and a face plant. Maggie is, as always, a magnet for trouble. Though it's typically brought on by a family member or friend. This time is no different.

what a story

I was intrigued by this story. I mean seriously what else was Maggie getting into. I adored the characters and the heroine who loves everyone. This was a great progression to her story.

Was starting to fall asleep with this series but the adventures of Maggie and the crew drew a laugh or two and picked it up. Sometimes confusing, sometimes you would like to slap a couple of the dysfunctional family (and friends) but you got to love the MC.
