As a serial killer, suspected to be using an RV camper, lures and kills women across the country, the FBI, at a loss, must break protocol and turn to its brilliant 22 year old academy recruit—Riley Paige.

Riley Paige is accepted into the grueling FBI academy, and is determined to finally keep a low profile and work hard with her peers. But that is not meant to be, as she is hand-picked to help her mentors to profile and hunt down a serial killer that has terrified the nation. What sort of diabolical killer, Riley wonders, would use an RV to catch his victims?

And where is he heading next?

There is no time for Riley to make a mistake in this deadly game of cat and mouse, with her own future on the line, and with a killer out there that may just be smarter than her.

An action-packed thriller with heart-pounding suspense, LURING is book #3 in a riveting new series that will leave you turning pages late into the night. It takes readers back 20 plus years—to how Riley’s career began—and is the perfect complement to the ONCE GONE series (A Riley Paige Mystery), which includes 14 books and counting.

Death by barbed wire sounds horrendous , does it not? I gave this book three stars because there were quite a few typos--too many to ignore. Otherwise, the author's writing mechanics were good. I love to see 'between you and me' used correctly in a sentence!

Thank you, Mr. Pierce, for a good read.

Getting better

The books keep getting better and jake and Riley continue to develop as characters, as does their bond. Riley still seems to be immature and it seems like she’s always getting tossed out of the academy and let back in. I find that hard to buy. The author needs to add additional maturity to her character so we can see her brilliance instead of being told about it. Overall it was a really great read with an interesting premise. I’ll continue on.

What does it mean to keep getting thrown out of the FBI Academy training program, when, even to the top of the Organization they know that Riley Paige is special and is helping to solve cases that would otherwise might go cold. I like seeing Riley grow and become the profiler she will become in the first few books I read in Riley Paige Mystery. I started reading Riley Paige couple of years ago and have been reading other of Blake Pierce's books since then. I have my favorite Jessie Hunt and then Blake Pierce and then there are others, just look up Blake Pierce and see what strikes your fancy. To get back to Riley and Jake. Riley finally goes to testify in Lanton against the Professor she looked up to who killed her best friend and roommate, Trudy, and her other friend Rhea who Professor Hayman killed thinking he was fulfilling his friend and Professor Zimmerman's plot in his book. So we find her testifying in his case and he has pleaded guilty and tried to say he was not trying to kill her, its a wild day in court. Then we find Agent Jake Crivaro taking Riley with him to help solve the next case he was on. This is getting interesting to me because it is showing Riley growing up as she is young and just finished college and growing as an Agent. I cannot wait to get back to the regular Riley Paige books. Good reading. I highly recommend this book.

I was given an advanced copy for an honest review and was in no way compensated.

Mr. Pierce comes up with the most inventive ways for his serial killers to commit murder. BARBED WIRE is nasty and these victims die a gruesome death. Not for the feint of heart. These are the early days of Riley Paige while she was still Riley Sweeney with raw talent for hunting the bad guys. I love to see her growth and to see how Mr. Pierce is developing her character. Once again she is partnered with Jake the FBI living legend. He is doing his level best to teach how to get the best from her gift but Riley being Riley is her own worst enemy. She has much to learn and Jake will ultimately get the best from her. They make a dynamic team and won't rest until this "Barbed Wire Killer" is stopped.

I am enjoying this series with such tremendous delight and am so looking forward to the next book. I hope Mr. Pierce continues this inventive streak....he's just so good.

AUDIOLIBRO

I do love the characters, the stories, the dialogue, so much so that I have just bought the fourth book in the series. Once again, Riley finds herself drawn into the hunt for a serial killer or killers by her now-mentor FBI agent Jake Crivaro while she continues to second guess her instincts, her romance, and her career path. I get so immersed in these books that it's difficult for me to put them down. I would have rated this 5 stars but this is three books in a row where Riley is face-to-face with the murderer and nearly dies. I also wish her editors would be a little more careful in making sure that the names are consistent throughout (in one case a Senator has one name and then later on he has different one just one time, and then back to the original name - just as one example).

Third in a series after #1 Watching and
#2 Waiting

Great read except for all the mistakes in the electronic version through Libby. The editing seemed nonexistent.

In this 3rd book, Riley Sweeney is a trainee at the FBI academy in Quantico, and she marches to her own beat. She has been in the clutches of killers more than once in the 1st two books of the series.
But she has instincts that enable her to step into killers' shoes, and she has to learn to bridle herself because she's in training.
She has multiple irons in the proverbial fire, and she and her fiancé Ryan Paige are working on their relationship as they adjust to being apart while she is at the academy.
I realized that Mr Pierce has written many books about Riley Paige. But they haven't married yet, in this one...

2.5. I have listened to audio of all the Riley Page books and now am going back to listen to all the Making Of books. This one didn’t quite do it for me...it just seemed like there were a few gaping holes. And I’m really tired of the Riley/Ryan drama...it’s so over-the-top. She is so unsure of everything it’s annoying. Through all the books she’s on the outs with her superiors but in these, she’s a brand new intern who seems to think she should have the same respect as seasoned agents. It’s just not realistic.

Riddled with editorial issues and at one place it even changes a characters name; still a good storyline and fun quick read.

Riley Sweeney has begun an 18 month training to become an FBI agent. Will she pass the training and become an agent?
Agent Crivaro has been brought in on a strange serial killer case involving barbed wire- “the devil’s rope”. He made need Riley’s help. Can they work together to find the killer?

So glad I happened upon this author!

This is the 3rd book I’ve read by Blake Pierce and I am so glad I found his works! He writes a lot like another favorite of mine, Mary Higgins Clark. The “Making of Riley Page” series has been good suspense and quick to read. Looking forward to book 4!

These books are incredibly addictive and as you can see from my reading list, I am reading them at the rate of knots. I have been devouring this series and every other series this author has written. What I will note, is that the books seem to be getting shorter at the same price point and the editing leaves a lot to be desired. However, the stories just bring me back for more and more and more.

An exciting series

I love the story of Riley Paige becoming an FBI agent. I loved this book and learning more about her father.
I'm not sure who edits this author's work but he needs a better one. The story is exceptionally addicting but editing will help. Still giving it five stars.

Excellent book as I love all of the Riley page books such an excellent series where I feel like I know the main characters really well; the author is brilliant. One issue is that with many of the kindle books the typos are very frequent and this book was probably the worst. I can ignore it because I really enjoy the content but it is very frustrating.

It was a great story and was told very well, but the spelling, grammar and words that were out of place were very frustrating. I am not sure if you have a proof reader or not, but that would surely help us to get through the book better. Your story line is wonderful, but grammar and word placement need help. Debby Conner

This book was as good as first one. But what still bothers me, we don't get much information from the killer himself after he got caught, his thoughts. I also liked the first book for main character reading the book about mind of killer and that he has this ability long before killing. Why did some people choose it? It would be interesting if it got development.

Twisted

The black man k went in multiple directions. At one point I thought they’d solved the case and it was too easy. Then it went off n a different direction. Overall I enjoyed it there were several typographical errors, by t you was able to figure it out.

Really more the proofreading and editing. There are so many words in this book, it's distracting from the content and communicates the author and publisher are rushing to pump these series out faster than they can support. Very unprofessional.

I find it interesting watching Riley Paige grow and mature. I’ve read the first book in the Riley Paige series, “Once Gone,” and I like understanding how she came to that place in her career. However, big however, the amount of typos is so distracting that I have trouble recommending it.

will the pattern always be the same: riley risking her life at the very end of the story and ryan being an a*hole until the very end of the story?

still, i like these mistery stories, mostly for the plot twists

I really love this series (and any of Blake Pierce's books for that matter) but can we all agree that Ryan is a bit of a dick? If I had made a whole romantic evening like that and the response was "what the hell is going on" I would have chucked him out!!
