HOLIDAY ON THE HOMESTEAD

Montana, Christmas 1910: For widowed rancher Lincoln Creed, the holiday serves as a harsh reminder of what a tough year it’s been—and who he’s lost. His ranch has fallen on hard times, and he must find his little daughter Gracie a governess, a lady who can teach and cook—yet won’t set her sights on him.

For schoolteacher Juliana Mitchell, the holiday means finding a way to stretch her meager salary to provide food and firewood for the orphaned children in her care. Disowned for her refusal to wed, twenty-five-year-old Juliana has no desire to get married. Yet when she meets the handsome rancher, she can’t help but be drawn into his loving home. It’s the season for miracles, and fate might bring together this family for Christmas…

The daughter of a town marshal, Linda Lael Miller is a #1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of more than 100 historical and contemporary novels, most of which reflect her love of the West. Raised in Northport, Washington, Linda pursued her wanderlust, living in London and Arizona and traveling the world before returning to the state of her birth to settle down on a spacious property outside Spokane.
Linda traces the birth of her writing career to the day when a Northport teacher told her that the stories she was writing were good, that she just might have a future in writing. Later, when she decided to write novels, she endured her share of rejection before she sold Fletcher’s Woman in 1983 to Pocket Books. Since then, Linda has successfully published historicals, contemporaries, paranormals, mysteries and thrillers before coming home, in a literal sense, and concentrating on novels with a Western flavor. For her devotion to her craft, the Romance Writers of America awarded her their prestigious Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.
Long a passionate Civil War buff, Linda has studied the era avidly for almost thirty years. She has read literally hundreds of books on the subject, explored numerous battlegrounds and made many visits to her favorite, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where she has witnessed re-enactments of the legendary clash between North and South. Linda explores that turbulent time in The Yankee Widow, a May 7, 2019 MIRA Books hardcover, also available in digital and audiobook formats.
Dedicated to helping others, “The First Lady of the West” personally financed fifteen years of her Linda Lael Miller Scholarships for Women, which she awarded to women 25 years and older who were seeking to improve their lot in life through education. She anticipates that her next charitable endeavors will benefit four-legged critters.

Lincoln Creed and Julianna meet when she is at the general store with her Indian students. The school is closed and she was told to send the children to another school but cannot part with them. They have no place to go and no money. Lincoln feels he needs to help her and the children. At home Lincoln has a daughter who wants to learn and new mother as her mother passed away.
It is written very well and the setting is very well set. I enjoyed getting to know all the characters.

I enjoyed this Historical romance with a lot of other issues tossed in. This is one I bought at a local store. I've given it a 5* rating. This was centered around how the American Indian's were treated. The Hero and the Heroine both were open minded about this issue and they let other people know it. Lots of little twists and turns and I finished this in one night. Not sure this is for the under 18 readers.

an amazing book

But I do not expect anything different from these authors. I have lived in PA and have always been fascinated by the Amish. I have learned even more about them from this wonderful story. I recommend this book highly

Two books in one. Both fast reads.

The first one disappointed me in a few places. My heart broke when Lincoln said that heaven probably didn't exist. People just ended up in a box. Some places were very cheesy or unbelievable. Some scandalous without crossing "the line" before marriage. There are a few bedroom scenes once they were married.

The second book was clean. Some parts were a little cheesy (specially some dialogue), but I did enjoy reading about the Amish and home births without it going into gruesome detail.

Both books felt like they abruptly ended.
