A very nice overview of “La Ville‑Lumière” (The City of Light)!
This "Coffee table book" is much more than a photogenic tour of the city. It is remarkable how much history they jam into this book among the many wonderful photographs. I learned so much in my tour of the city.

As the title implies, a a history of Paris and its prominent locales using paintings and photographs. The narrative was informative, but a bit dry at times. However, an enjoyable afternoon could be had if one did nothing more than look at the pictures. This book retailed for %24.95 in 1998, so I am quite satisfied with my $2.00 find at the local used book sale!!
