Te dicen el título, Caja, y el argumento (un chaval se hace amigo de una caja de cartón que encuentra en la calle), y podrías pensar que es una de esas películas rarunas que hace Quentin Dupieux. Pero no, es una historia muy simpática sobre la amistad de un niño con una caja que pertenece a un mago. La caja siempre tiene ganas de construir cosas, para algo es una caja de herramientas, pero es un poco desastre. Es un cómic corto para pequeños lectores, que sirve de introducción para los personajes y la serie que inaugura. No siempre me emociona la idea de comenzar una serie de libros (soy un poco impaciente y literariamente infiel), pero Caja me ha picado y tanto a mí como a mi hijo nos apetece leer el resto de entregas.

Saksankieliseltä kielialueelta ei ole taidettu ihan hirvittävästi kääntää lapsille suunnattua sarjakuvaa suomeksi sitten Digedagien, mutta nytpä tämäkin puute on korjattu. Patrick Wirbeleitin käsikirjoittama ja Uwe Heidschötterin kuvittama "Loota" (Sarjakuvakeskus, 2018) on sympaattinen, hauska ja sopivan jännittävä fantasiasarjakuva vähän pienemmille koululaisille.
Matias löytää eräänä päivänä kotioveltaan laatikon, joka osoittautuu eläväksi ja puhuvaksi taikaesineeksi. Loota on toiminut aikaisemmin velhon työkalupakkina, mutta on kyllästynyt hommaansa, sillä velhon ei tietysti koskaan tarvitse korjata mitään nikkaroimalla. Loota on mukava kaveri, mutta on sellaisen ystävyydessä ongelmansakin... Kun vanhemmat jähmettyvät paikoilleen Lootan nähtyään, täytyy apua lähteä hakemaan synkän metsän keskellä asuvalta velholta.
Lootan seikkailuja on ilmestynyt saksaksi viiden osan verran, mutta meillä kääntäminen taisi loppua ensimmäisen osan jälkeen. Sääli. Ei olisi ollut yhtään hullumpaa lukea enemmänkin Matiaksen ja hänen erikoisen ystävänsä maailmasta!
Sarjakuvan kuvittajana toimiva Uwe Heidschötter on muuten ollut ohjaamassa Julia Donaldsonin Urhea pikku mörkyli -kuvakirjaan perustuvaa sangen mainiota animaatiota.
Matias löytää eräänä päivänä kotioveltaan laatikon, joka osoittautuu eläväksi ja puhuvaksi taikaesineeksi. Bongasin kirjaston uutuushyllystä sarjakuvan nimeltä Loota, ja nappasin mukaani lounastauolle. Kirjassa Matias löytää laatikon, joka osaa puhua, rakentaa ja jonka sisuksista löytyy vaikka mitä tuiki tarpeellista erilaisiin tilanteisiin (vasara, nauloja, piilopaikka...). Matias ja Loota puuhailevat kaikkea yhdessä, mutta kun Matiaksen vanhemmat näkevät puhuvan Lootan, he jähmettyvät... Heidät saa hereille vain velho, jonka työkalupakkina Loota on ennen ollut.
Noh, en odottanut mitään, enkä nyt varsinaisesti saanut mitään. Sarjakuva on ihan hauska ja voisin hyvin kuvitella vinkkaavani tätä vaikka 3.-4. luokkalaisille, mutta laadukkaampaakin sarjakuvaa lapsille löytyy.
Perus ok.

What happens when Matthew Wheeler finds a box, and takes it home to find a good use for it as he builds his spaceship is more than he expected. Box belongs to a wizard Torquist Binklestunk, and the adventure begins when Matthew's parents are frozen when they meet Box.

Kiva ja helppolukuinen sarjakuva, jossa oli mainio juoni! Piirrosjälki oli todella kaunista, hahmot myös mielenkiintoisia. Olisin voinut lukea enemmänkin, loppui ihan liian nopeasti.

Außergewöhnlich, magisch und herrlich schräg: Junge findet quirlige und tollpatschige Kiste und schlittert direkt hinein ins Abenteuer.

Mit einem leeren Pappkarton am Straßenrand fängt alles an:
Eigentlich braucht Mattis die Kiste für sein Bastelprojekt doch als der Karton plötzlich mit ihm spricht, ist die Raumstation schnell vergessen.
Kiste ist natürlich nicht irgendeine Kiste. Sie war lange Zeit Werkzeugkiste bei einem Zauberer und da dieser nie gebaut, sondern nur gezaubert hat, ist Kiste ausgebüxt und so bei Mattis gelandet.
Der Beginn einer außergewöhnlichen Freundschaft mit vielen tollen Erfindungen und ebenso viel Chaos ...

Mein Eindruck:
Ein sprechender Pappkarton mit unglaublichem Fassungsvermögen ist schon sehr unterhaltsam, dass dieser aber bei all seinen "Erfindungen" und Bauwerken immer wieder über das Ziel hinausschießt und so jede Menge Chaos produziert, macht diesen Comic nur noch lustiger.
In kurzen Dialogen (sehr motivierend für Leseanfänger oder Lesemuffel) wird die erste Begegnung von Mattis und Kiste erzählt. Die zwei stürzen direkt ihr erstes große Abenteuer und ich bin erstaunt, wie viel Handlung in dem 70-seitigen Büchlein Platz findet. Trotz oder gerade wegen der wenigen Texte punkten Situationskomik und skurrile Story.
Die Charaktere sind liebenswert und authentisch gestaltet, was sich auch in den Bildern widerspiegelt. Der Zeichenstil gefällt sehr und ganz besonders die Mimik (Kistes erwartungsvoller Blick oder Mattis' ungläubiges Gesicht) sowie Kistes Eigenschaft, dass alles (vom Werkzeug bis hin zu Mattis selbst) in ihn hineinpasst sorgt für viele Lacher.
Das Duo Mattis und Kiste könnte unterschiedlicher nicht sein, ergänzt sich aber perfekt. Die beiden Freunde sind ein tolles Team und das erste Abenteuer macht neugierig auf die folgenden Bände (inzwischen gibt es fünf).
Wir geben eine Leseempfehlung sowie 5 von 5 Werkzeugkisten für dieses spannende, witzige und herrlich schräge Comic-Abenteuer!

At that age, I used to play with the simplest of objects, too. Those ‘objects’ often transformed into spaceships, battle tanks, and all sorts of fantastical things.
Though I’ve grown older, the kid in me is still very much alive (whispers: yes, I still play sometimes!).
The best part? My daughter shares this same wonderful habit of imaginative play. Some of my most cherished moments are when we take ordinary objects, turn them into something extraordinary, and dive into our little world of make-believe together.
This comic captures that magic perfectly.

A cute tale of one boys imagination come to life when he finds a magical, sentient cardboard box and they have to journey through the forest to save his parents.
I enjoyed this book, and the illustrations were great. It had a humorous tone throughout and the ending was childishly cheeky.
Though I didn’t feel like this book had that unique special quality to it, I would recommend for a fun quick read to your child.

This was a very quick read. The artwork is fine and the story has a lot of potential. I think that, for me, the part that the book didn't quite align with my expectations based on reading the promo blurb. It's not that the blurb doesn't accurately describe the book. It does, but it promises more than it delivers with the whole hinting at mystery. I just thought that there would be more depth to the story and adventure. And part of this may simply be lost in translation.

This is a cute story of a boy who discovers a magical, alive cardboard box and must reunite it with a sorcerer whose problems are kind of tied into why the Box is out and about in the first place. Squarely aimed at kids, this is a fun and fairly low-intensity tale with pleasant art and some smiles along the way. Could have benefited from a broader cast, but here's hoping Volume 2 evens things out a little more.

Reading graphic novels with intent to share with my kids. This one has:
-Great, full-color art
-Decent story
-Nothing super special about it, and it's short. I guess it's first of a series, so the story goes on, but I didn't love this first chapter enough to get out the following ones from the library.

Strange little box
This is a short cute story about a box that loves to build anything.
The art is different and reminds me of old comic books I read as a kid. Its quite sweet and short but agreeable. I can only hope that more l be translated from German to English.

Matthew finds a mysterious box one day and suddenly, it starts to talk! When Matthew's parents see the talking Box, they freeze. Matthew works with The Box to find the Wizard who can unfreeze Matthew's parents.
This was really cute. I liked the art and it was easy to read. This would be a great comic for middle grade.

Matthew is young enough that having an imaginary friend is ok with his parents, but then his mother leaves him home alone while she goes to pick up Matthew's father from work.
Story is for younger kids, so I am probably too critical, but I felt like it never really went anywhere.

This book was chosen for our fourth-grade Guys/Gals Read, and while I thought it was a fine book - good art, funny, interesting, well-paced - I would say this is suitable more for 1st-3rd grade. It's very short, and not much text, and it would be a perfect intro graphic novel for younger kids.

Die Figuren in diesem Comic für Kinder sind auf eine Art gezeichnet, die ganz dynamisch, in Bewegung wirkt. Das fand ich besonders gelungen.
Abgesehen davon ist die Geschichte für Kinder sicher ein Spaß; aber hebt sich für erwachsene Leser*innen nicht von Toggo Zeichentrickserien ab.

What a delight story to send my son off to sleep with tonight. I have s tinkering boy with a big imagination. We loved it. Easy to follow text, illustrations amplify the message and it's a book 1, ergo, more to come.

Kiva, nopealukuinen lastensarjakuva Lootasta, ihmeellisestä pahvilaatikosta, joka voi poimia sisuksistaan kaikenlaisia työkaluja. Sympaattinen tarina erilaisesta ystävyydestä ja lasten kyvystä uskoa magiaan.

This was cuter than I thought it would be when I first started reading it. The box is alive, weird! But, between the adventure, the loveable characters, the quickness of the read, and the potential for more cuteness in the future, this is a good read.

As an avid box collector (you never know when you’re going to need a good box!) I enjoyed this middle grade graphic novel. It was a short, funny, quick read and a cute story about a sentient box who can talk and likes to fix things!

Odd, but in a good way. Has a Sword in the Stone vibe, if Merlin had been a little more hapless and young Arthur had been a bit quicker witted.
