Richard Prosch is rapidly becoming one of my favorite writers. And with "Dan Spalding," Prosch has created a series detective character to rival Spenser or Travis McGee. The Spalding stories are quick reads, hard hitting but with a deep heart. I read this one in a white heat. Highly recommended.
A little side job protecting a college professor seems like an easy gig. It might be if he could follow simple instructions to keep him safe and if he would quit disappearing. We even get a mob boss with this one, and a very feisty lady named Veronica.
