Monique Orgeron is a Contemporary Romance w/ suspense author. Stern Family Saga
Written by Monique Orgeron’s eldest, most beautiful, and intelligent daughter. (My sister is going to hate this part.) My mom happens to be the most caring, loving, and stubborn person I know, well anyone knows. She gives 100% percent of herself to everyone and has given up so much of herself for my sister and I. For twenty-one years she has poured her heart and soul into making sure we know that we are loved and that we can do anything we put our minds too, but it was about time she figured that out about herself. Up until this year I hadn’t seen my mom do anything for only her, but this book has allowed her to travel the world through the pages of a book, make new friends, and feel the joy of doing something exciting. There is a new light behind her eyes and it is just making me feel more joy than she can ever imagine. While she might be annoying most of the time, I am so thrilled that she is finally allowing herself to grow as a person and not spend all of her energy on her family. It has been a long journey of self-discovery for my mom; she has gone from domestic supermom to domestic goddess throughout the process of writing. We are so very excited and proud of you! I love you as big as the world. -Bria and Tony
Art of Survival: Part Two (A Stern Family Saga Book 6) By: Monique Orgeron 5 Emotional Stars
Just closed the kindle on this very emotional book. Keep in mind, this is book 6 in the series. You must read all 5 prior books before diving into this one.
Catherine Stern has totally prepared herself for the fight. Her family has stood behind her like the soldiers they’ve been trained to be from birth. Going through the battle is only ½ of the war. The after battle is where the emotions and finding out who your true loyal members are.
Although Gabriel has been primed to take over for quite some time, it’s the hardest changing of the guards that Catherine has to accept. Has she done a good enough job training him to take over? Is the handing over the reins telling all the other men that she is done? That the cancer has caused her to become weak… So many thoughts running through her mind at a time that she needs to be taking care of herself.
There is trouble in the Stern household. The truth coming out has caused destruction that only time can tell if the family can overcome and rebuild. The wives are stronger than ever and are a force of their own!
One thing that brings Catherine happiness is watching her house fill with so many grandbabies. The love and joy filling the house that was once like a prison brings tears to her eyes. Finally, after all these years the kids voices are like angels singing!
What a journey we have be through with the Stern Family! I totally enjoyed reading this entire series. Catherine’s story being my favorite. Great job to the author for bringing us this entire series.
Art of Survival Part 2 of 2 by Monique Orgeron in A Stern Family Saga. This continues the story of Catherine Stern. This book picks up with Catherine coming to terms with the cancer diagnosis but also changing her actions to those of a fight to overcome this disease. Catherine is dealing with turning over control to her oldest son and her other kids along with working on what has happened to her in the past. This was an emotional read for me and one that I couldn't put down. This whole series has been such a great one and I am so glad I found this author. I would love to read more books from Ms. Orgeron. Loved this book and series!!
Book 2 for Catherine’s story and I was just as hooked with this book as I was with of Monique’s others. I finally put it away at 2am though I really wanted to finish. This part is all present day and like how the 1st one ends , the beginning of Catherine’s fight for her life. I am so attached to this whole family. As always with Monique’s writing, it is flawless and pulls you into the story. You feel with her words and can relate to what she was going through. It brings to life the big change in women’s lives and the battles that they face when dealing with breast cancer and the treatment. Some can relate probably more then others. I work for a plastic surgeon so I have seen a lot of what she went through and have been there to watch their incredible journey to fight not only the disease but to feel whole and like a woman again. Grand slam on this book!! Well worth the wait!!! Now we really need Teddy’s story....
Holy Cow! This book has left me with a serious book hangover! This is part two of Catherine's story, and just like the lady herself, this book is complex and brings some heavy emotion. From the very beginning of this series, Catherine has been the epitome of strength, but, with these last two books, we have seen that she is human and can be quiet vulnerable. Like us, Catherine learns that there are just some battles that we simply can't fight (or conquer) on our own. Even the strongest and bravest of us all need someone to pick us up when we don't feel like going on.
What a great conclusion to Catherine's story! As always with the Stern family, there is a lot of drama, danger, and suspense. My favorite part of the story? The mini "baby boom" going on in the Stern house. They are slowly building the family that Catherine has always wanted! The only question? Will Catherine survive to enjoy it?
Congrats to this amazing author for creating such amazing characters for us to love!
Wow, I am totally blown away! Every time I think that this author cannot do any better, she ups her game! This is the second part and conclusion of Catherine’s story, where she is in for the fight of her life, and having to relinquish control of the family legacy over to her son Gabriel. This is a beautifully written story which is gritty, emotional, heartbreaking, intense, loving, and all round powerful tale. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner. I cannot wait to read what this exceedingly talented author brings to us next, and I highly recommend this phenomenal series for all readers.
Part two picks up with Catherine fighting for her life, literally. Turning over control to someone so she can fight is not easy and causes a lot of turmoil in the Stern house. But cancer or not, Catherine is still a bada$$!. I'm still mad at Gabriel and I still want to throat punch him. Fallon made me so proud, and you can totally see her taking over the reins of the family from Catherine some day. You definitely need to read part one to understand everything that is going on this book. I love these characters and the stories are so well written in this series. The series is a must read!!!
This book is book two of Catherine's story. It's not a light story. It is in fact a heavy one. It deals with every day life. The difficulties we deal with and the choices we make in dealing with them. If you were to ask me to describe this book and author to you in one word, it would have to be PHENOMENAL!!
Wow!!! A fantastic book and conclusion to Catherine’s journey. Catherine’s story is heartbreaking and loving filled with grit and determination of a woman making it in a man’s world. I highly recommend this story and this whole series!!!
Oh ma chère Monique! Vous avez certainement dépassé toutes les attentes que j'avais dans mon esprit pour ce livre! BRAVO! Even though I am not feeling, I couldn't or didn't want to put this book down. Not even to rest! This whole series is captivating! It's extremely well written. Exquisitely so! If I could give this a billion stars I would! Thank you Monique for all the passion, pride, and love you put into this series!
I love this book it shows you that you can have a life after breast cancer she wants to giv up her old life let her sons take over marry the love of her life and live for herself and her husband.
If you’ve read the series to date, this is a must read to get all of your questions answered! If you thought part one was emotionally invested, this one will have you in all the feels!
If you aren’t familiar with this series, what are you waiting for?!
Be prepared to feel the full range of emotions with every book!
5+ Stars!! Monique Oregon - you just keep getting better. This book took me on such an emotional roller coaster ride. I loved how there were so many POV’s. You pulled all the characters into this book and I loved it. I loved watching Catherine and Theo’s relationship grow. I don’t think I could love Theo any more than I do! He’s not only caring, sensitive, and loyal but also all the alpha sexiness just oozes out of him. The whole process of the Breast Cancer that Catherine went through was so real and emotionally draining. I learned so much about the treatment, timeframes and the feelings involved during each stage of progress after the surgery. My heart just went out to her! Cancer patients are strong! They are fighters!! There were so many touching and suspenseful places in this book that has your heart racing, eyes tearful or panties melting. Monique - you about killed me with the ‘hallway memorie’ scene. I still get choked up this morning every time I think about it. Also, the drama around Catherine and Teddy was so good. I love Catherine. In my eyes she will always be a Mom first before the job. A Mom will always put her child first and will be willing to sacrifice her life to save her child.
What a book! I loved loved loved it!! One of the best for 2018! People - you want a book with all the feels? Grab this book!!!
The final installment to Catherine's story delivered so many emotions as we witnessed Catherine enter the fight of her life not only against cancer but her battle to relinquish control of the legacy she had created... handing over the reins to Gabriel. The empathy felt as she lost herself, her identity and her femininity to the deadly disease. This was so very powerful as it could be anyone of us... it is so very real and that's what makes it so emotional; as woman we can connect with what this character was going through. We saw her at her weakest, regroup and come out the fighter that we know her to be. Stronger and a better version of herself. The love between her and Theo was just an inspiration, a love that stood the test of time and transcended through their own marriages to other people. The sorrow as she told Gabriel of her life with his father and I admire the fact that she didn't try to influence her children's opinion of him.
Told from a multiple POV; the book takes you on a journey like no other. I love books with strong female characters and this book delivers exactly that! The passion in the writing is evident as the book flows beautifully. My only criticism is that each character's POV was delivered in a very similar style... I felt it would have better to give the men more of an edge to the tone in which they told their part... This doesn't detract anything from the writing or the story whatsoever. It's just something I notice when reading different POVs
This is the final part of the Stern saga, Catherine's fight is not sugar coated the pain and psychological impact of breast cancer and the devastating effect is a realistic journey mapped without rose tinted moments I loved that the author did her research. So alongside the realism of breast cancer and fighting to survive the surgery, chemo, radiotherapy mourning the loss of her breasts and eventually the reconstructive surgery Catherine is fighting for her family's legacy.
Her daughters in law show that they are strong and able perfect foils for her sons.
Catherine realises that she has female friends in Cherry and Margaret who continue the grooming Catherine started with Fallon, Avery Murphy and Brittany bringing humour, love and empathy that female friends bring in times of adversity. Different as the two characters were they helped straightened the crown of Catherine. Gabriel her eldest son had the batton passed to him was such an asshole to his wife and his mother but came good in the end. Fallon was no pushover and again I loved that side of her character.
Theo, Catherine's love oh my the kind of partner you would want by your side when your femininity is ripped from you.
There was so much going on plots inside of plots, revelations, secrets old and new threatening the family and vulnerabilities exposed. Loyalties being tested. New alliances made.
Catherine's grandchildren a lovely addition that strengthen the bonds further between her, Cherry and Margaret as they are their grandbabies too.
An emotional tearjerker but also an edge of your seat read with all the other action going on.
This essentially was a worthy conclusion to Catherine's story, finally she put to rest the horror of her marriage to William because that was so toxic and he had hovered like the spectre he was for way too long.
It seemed like forever to get this book, and yet, so very worth the wait! I've become a HUGE fan of the brilliant Monique Orgeron since the very first book in A Stern Family Saga, and her writing has only gotten better & better as this series went on. I really want to shout from the rooftops every last detail about the last book, but fortunately for everyone, I'm highly against spoiler douchery. But know this, she went straight out EPIC with the conclusion, and frankly, I'm just not inclined to give much away at all. I have to say though, that this is Book 6 in this EPIC (yeah may say that word a couple more times before I'm done #sorrynotsorry) Saga so seriously, you HAVE to read Books 1-5 FIRST & IN ORDER! This is the big finale, and Ms. Orgeron brought out the big guns, as EVERY last page kept me on the edge of my seat, as Catherine Stern prepared, then went through her biggest battled yet. And everyone played their part, while giving us glimpses into their emotions as well. Twists were EVERYWHERE, so my f-bombs were dropping EVERYWHERE. My emotions were engaged like I was going through it with her, as this author transported me into this family 100%, so I found myself emotionally raw by the end as every last detail seemed so realistic in the telling. Everyone was present and accounted for as the amazing cast of secondaries, with some really giving me that whole well placed humor breaks from the heavy. And Catherine's final stand?! There are no words, so you will just have to read it for yourselves! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS EPIC GOODNESS TO ALL!
Catherine is back and she has made one of the hardest decisions that she has had to make. But she follows through and shows what an amazingly strong character she is. She also shows numerous times why she became the person that she is, and how. She is definitely a ruthless characters, but everything she has done has been for love. Even if it doesn’t seem like it.
The boys each come into their own in this story, but one of them thoroughly irritated me. But … I can empathize with his character partly. However, he also pulls is head out of his backside and shows what a son of Catherine Stern is made of.
This family and those that are closest to them are strong and have deeply ingrained themselves into my heart. Each of them has shown strength that is unparalleled and a willingness to do what needs to be done. The women in this family are amazing as well. Each one has a strength that is different from the others, but each one only increases the strength of the others.
I am not going to give anything away, but I will say that a lot of loose ends are tied up in this book and some people find out truths from the lies. There is so much emotion from this book that it was at times hard to read, but I think that is what ultimately kept me moving forward. All in all, this is an awesome ending to an amazing story.
For anyone that hasn’t read the whole series .. you really need too! You need to experience each characters story and then finish with Catherine. The whole series is epic and shows strength and perseverance galore!
Where do I start. This is the conclusion of Catherine's story that I have been waiting for and I was not disappointed. Catherine takes you on a journey with her where you see all of her insecurities play out. She has the fight of her life to fight and if you thought she has been through hell before you haven't see anything yet. I love the conversation between her and Gabriel and even after everything her husband put her through she still doesn't say anything bad about him to her boys. I love how everyone is included in the conclusion of this book and how each one plays apart in Catherine's journey. The emotion makes you fell like you are living it with a friend instead of reading about it. My favorite out of everything is Theo. The love Catherine and him have for each other after everything they have been through, other marriages, cancer, bad times and good they still manage to find a way back to each other. I won't give away the ending but if you are a Stern fan or a fan of Catherine's you must read this. I am so sorry to see this ending but can't wait to see what is in store next.
Why oh why can I not give this book more then 5 stars! Like seriously this book, no this whole series is hands down one my my favorites. I really think everyone needs to read it!!
Art of Survival Part 2 is exactly that Part 2 of the first half of an amazing book. It picks up where Part 1 leaves and we finally get to see the stubborn, strong woman Catherine Stern not so strong when she’s fighting for her life in a battle of breast cancer. We see her and her family deal with this is different ways as we did in part 1. But here we get to see more of Gabriel and how he handles being the “boss” now.
What I love about this series is how from book one Art of Seduction to the last one Art of Survival Part 2 is that they are all connected. In every one we get a hint or more of the previous characters and we see them all developing into the strong family that Mrs. Catherine as trained them all to be.
Make sure you read part 1 before diving into part 2. And I highly recommend this book and series to everyone!!! Monique is amazing with her words and they just hook you in on the most amazing roller coaster ride of emotions.
OMG she did it AGAIN. This author continues to hit it out of the park with every swing! This was the conclusion of the matriarch Catherine's story and it DID NOT disappoint. Bombshell after bombshell about what went in to making this such an amazing family, not always on the right side of the law but usually on the right side of the greater good. I'm always interested in the thought process of WHY characters make the decisions they make, and hers were certainly intriguing. I have grown to love her through her kids stories but mad respect for her through her own story. And Theo, what a fiercely protective Papa Bear! So happy we get deeper into his mind. Such a gentle giant. Do NOT cross that man's family! Catherine deserves someone that devoted to her. This whole series has been amazing and I can't wait to see what the author brings us next. I'd love to see cameos of this family in her future work because I'm not ready to leave the Stern - Trehan world, its a fun place to visit!
Of all Survivals characters Catherine has always been my favorite, she suffered greatly, sacrificed unselfishly, and loved with all her heart. All her hard work will come to fruition in this book. All her children have been trained with a job to do in the organization to keep it running. Now Catherine is sick and must hand control over to Gabriel and the others. During this time so many of Catherine’s hidden agendas come to light especially concerning the wives. Will there be strife in the family ? Will Catherine and Theo get back together and what part will Teddy and Richard Shaw play in all the drama.
I must applaud the way Monique Orgeron handled the subject of breast cancer in this book. It was well researched and she presented it in a way you felt you were there experiencing all the feelings and living it with them.
You must read book one of The Art Of Survival before this one as the book is a continuation. Read the whole Saga then you will know the whole story. You know those potato chips….you can’t eat just one….well 😊 ….pat….
Art Of Survival Part Two This is not a standalone, you need to have read the first 5 books before starting this one. Now before I start my review let me start off by staying this is my favorite book in the series to date. Make sure you have a box of tissues close by, you will need it. This is a highly emotional read, it picks right up where we were left in part 1. Catherine is ready to fight but it's not just her life she's fighting for. With her family by her side, she's preparing them for what's to come. In true Catherine style she's right once again... The war has started and now the she family needs to be vigilant and deal with what's thrown their way.. I loved the secondary characters that are introduced in this book, and hope to see more of them in the future This book contains love, loss, anguish, heartache, blood and is action packed. It's about survival of the fittest. I absolutely love this book if I could rate it any higher I would. It's definitely a 10 star read
I don’t even know where to start for this review. This book has given me a massive hangover and it’s hard to write this review without giving everything away. Such a complex story!! Although I’m starting to “de thaw” this story made me start to hate one of my favourite characters from book one of the series. Like HATE HATE HATE!!! That in itself speaks highly of the amazing ability of this author to continue writing a now six book long series and change my opinion of a beloved character!! This series just CANNOT be over there is still so much ground cover and I eagerly await ( eagerly really means really freaking impatiently..) the next emotional roller coaster of awesomeness involving all of these people involved with the stern family!
What a way to end a series. Part 2 of Art of Survival was in a word, fantastic! I could not put this book down. Every extra minute I had you would find me with my nose in it. There is so much going on from the business to family dynamics and different obstacles that a woman can face throughout her life. I was very happy with the way most of the characters finished coming into their own in this last book. However you still see a lot of the same stubbornness most of the characters like to exhibit. This whole series was just phenomenal and I really look forward to seeing more from Monique.
Catherines second part of her story is even more emotional than the first the struggle she was put through and how her husband used to treat her makes you think this is why she is strong and at times shuts of and is Catherine not Katie. We find out more about the boys and their wives and what they need to do to move forward as a family and stay strong for each other but some are struggling when truths come out especially Gabriel. This is an amazingly beautifully written story of strong woman who need to be for their strong sexy men and family values. This is a must read series I would highly recommend to others. I loved each book the more i read them.
I absolutely loved this book! Catherine decides she’s going to fight cancer and she is in for a battle. Her family is also going through the battle but also have to fight when some of the crime bosses turn on the Stern Family. This author did not sugar coat the battle of a woman dealing with breast cancer. I really appreciated this. The fight is real not only for the woman but also her family. She covered all aspects and it was done her research. Just a warning...you will need tissues. I ugly cried more than once.
Wow! What can I say that nobody else has already?... This is the best book written! It was so worth the wait and helps knowing the background from the first five books. Man Monique, your books are intense and just gets better and better. I can’t count how many times I had to stop because I was crying and just couldn’t see the words anymore. This book had me so emotional, but the ending couldn’t be any better. I’m curious if this is the ending of the series or maybe we will hear Teddy story or maybe Cherry’s or even Margaret’s? I’m curious with Teddy’s though since they kept hinting at him needing to get married. Again, Monique like every other review I wrote I’ll said it again! GREAT JOB! You did not disappoint.
If u can only read one series this year make it this one!
I love this book so much it shows the struggle Catherine goes through trying to give up control of what seems like everything! I felt like I was going through everything the book was describing, the heartbreak of watching their mother going down for surgery to the relief when she came back. And seeing how "the wife's" are using the skills that Catherine has taught them to help make the family stronger. I really like how we had a all the major players in this booking having chapters so they could show their own views. If I could only recommend on book series it would definitely be this one!
This book brings so many emotions out.. I swear i was so sucked in, i couldn't even eat. I had to keep reading to see what happened next. This was a test to see how strong and ready the Stern family was. There's a shift of power and they have to stay strong. Catherine and the every growing family show their power and end up stronger then ever. I felt so many emotions and honestly enjoyed every minute of this book and series. I'd highly encourage everyone to pick up these books and fall in love with the Stern family! I have to say i loved then end quote most of all.
