Although there have been over 2000 versions of the Bible in the English language to date, many of them still available for purchase, this particular Bible speaks God’s message clearly to me. A few of the translators coincidentally were classmates with me in seminary. The stated goal of the translation committee of the New Living Translation was to provide a dynamic equivalence rather than a literal word-for-word translation of the Bible from Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek manuscripts. I’d say they achieved their goal. So when I sit down and read from this particular Bible, with Mark McKenzie movie theme scores playing on Pandora in the background, I feel as if I have been carried into heaven. Reading from the New Living Translation Bible lifts and carries me to a better and brighter place in my mind and heart during the social isolation imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic 🙂
