Dennis is a college student whose only luck with the ladies is ogling them from afar and picking up their misplaced bikini tops the morning after wild pool parties he never attends. After working late nights at Conan's Pizza, his overactive Frazetta-inspired imagination are all that get him through the day.
Dreams of slaying beasts to rescue babelicious women will soon be put to the test as his sudden gut-emptying illness turns out to be the side effects of desperate priestess magic from a world of savage-land hotties and nightmarish monsters.
With his newly bestowed herculean body and the aid, advice, and welcome attentions of his female companions, Dennis must learn the skills of a warrior, gain the heart of a champion, and fulfill the uniquely different desires of the women who choose to call him their man.
Facing deadly vagabonds, ravenous beasts, and mythical creatures, he does his best to survive the challenges of this new land and protect the women relying on him. But his hard work in college never prepared him for any of this, and especially not for the Dark One.

My innards were stitched together with Jules Verne, Edgar Rice Burroughs, childhood dreams, unbound possibilities, and all of the great 80’s movies. I think Frank Frazetta’s art is tops, and Conan the Cimmerian, Jack Reacher, and Flash Gordon are good role models.
I write fiction in various flavors--sci-fi and fantasy lately. I published my first book in 2012. After several years of honing my craft (which I still continue to do), I became a full-time writer in late 2018.
I’ve enjoyed stories all my life--some in books, some in movies… some in my head. What can I say? Life is great, but so is imagination.
I’ve worked as a bookseller, a research library assistant, a computer network expert, and in a dozen other jobs over the years--some down the street from my childhood home, others which took me across oceans.
If I’m not reading or writing, I’m probably enjoying time with my family or friends, or hiking or Netflix-ing or watching Prime or Hulu…or the Disney streaming service if it’s out when you read this, because Marvel!.
I’ve stumbled just enough times to give me some perspective (and character to my stories), but never so badly as to keep me down--for too long.
I believe in being decent to people just because, and going for what you want even when it seems really hard or almost out of reach.
The story in this book, what little there is, is terrible! Let me be clear, I’m not offended by cursing, or harems, or claiming your work is inspired by the work of other artists. What I dislike is flat, bad, boring writing. Most of the story is told in passive voice, described after the fact, or is told to the reader rather than shown through description. The characters are all flat - with all the females being the same and having the same body types that the college age main character, Den, responds to in the same way. I know fantasy stories call for suspension of disbelief, but none of the actions of any character from the very beginning of the story make any sense. Den, or Dennis as he is known in our world, is living in the worst apartment imaginable. I can’t tell you what the apartment looks like because I wasn’t shown or told what it looks like, all the author gave the reader was “imagine the worst apartment you can think of only it’s actually worst.” Yet according to the author, every night there is a huge pool party at the building that involves lots of college girls losing their bikini tops. Oh, and the building next door to Dennis’ building complex, is a sorority building that his apartment balcony just happens to look down upon and the sorority girls are also always sun bathing and romping around half naked or throwing wild parties. Again, we don’t see any of this, we are told this by The author ... so why exactly is this the worst apartment beyond anything I can imagine? Especially considering that the only two things I know for sure about Dennis by the end of chapter one is that he loves Conan books, comics, video games and movies - and He can only describe women in terms of their chest size and bounce. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think a shallow character like Dennis would really hate his existence - even if he is suppose to only weigh 150 pounds at 6 feet tall which makes him extremely unhealthy and was also not something I found believe able because he works at a pizza parlor named after his favorite super hero - Conan.
Just to round out this summary of chapter one and the unbelievable/terrible writing - after Dennis goes to class where he suddenly takes ill and vomits all over several classmates, including the two hottest girls in the class that he just happens to be assigned to sit between (since when did assign seating become a thing in college? I’ve a masters degree and I’ve been teaching college courses going on seven years now, and all the time as a student and as an instructor I’ve never had assigned seating). But despite having vomited, the two babes decide to take Dennis back to his place - which they can find with no help from him - and are apparently intent on having a threesome with him (we all know nothing turns a woman on like vomit and a guy about to pass out from being sick) because one of them has decided to get revenge on some guy - we don’t know who this guy is because he’s just a name in a brief sentence of dialogue that she says before reminding her friend, the other hot girl, that she said she would help her with this - and ‘this’ apparently means they both get naked and into bed with Dennis a moment or so before his fever and illness causes him to pass out. That’s it. That’s all we get to justify their actions. But don’t worry dear reader, in chapter two Dennis wakes up in wannabe Conan-land and assumes the identity of Den. There is a Dark One out there in wannabe Conan-land and he needs to be defeated. So the two new hot babes that Den meets have summoned him because their gods read Den’s mind and mistook him for a combat companion of Conan. And when the gods couldn’t summon Conan for the girls, the priestess settles for Den. Got to love incompetent gods. Fear not though, the two girls have used magic to take the way Dennis day dreams himself being as he battles at Conan’s side, and they can give him the muscles, the body, the strength that he imagined and that they mistook him for actually having - he just has to sleep with them over and over and over again, each time getting stronger, each time being an amazing lover that can go for hours on top of hours and if at this point you decide to keep reading the story let me assure you - you won’t get to see any of the action - not in the bed or on the battlefield. But you will be told about it in very boring poor descriptions.
To sum it all up - this book is terrible. It’s an insult to Conan, who would crush Den as his enemy, see his companions scatter before him and hear the lamentations of the poor women that the author stuck with Den.
I enjoyed this book and laughed at the antics of the characters in the book.It was fun to read the author worked to not just tell a story but to entertain.
Liked the story for the most part but thought out hero was a bit to stupid. I mean he has a 4.0 in sciences and is as clueless as a newborn. The macho was over the top but prob came with the stupid. Character development was weak but had plenty of action to fill the gaps. Prob will get second book to see if there are improvements.... And some magic!!
I struggled with this at the beggining because seriously I didn't like the Mc, I felt an improvement in the middle of it but at the end what annoyed me so bad about this returned with a vengance. The ending was heading for a nice direction but our MC tendency to daydream and think on completely random unnecessary geek culture at the wrong moment really was a downner all the seriousness the story worked to just lost any relevance by that. And the last sex scene completely unnapropiate for the time and place.
I was really surprised by this book I thought it was going to be like one of the gamer books. To my surprise and delight it isn’t looking foreword to the next one.
The problem with books like this are they're ultimately droll and often kind of disgusting. Imagine a barbarian, fighting, hiking, rolling in garbage, etc... In a land of no toilets or toilet paper, tooth brushes or a concept of deodorant.... A man that hasn't bathed in days with only a wash basin bath before that ... wearing a leather loin cloth that must reek to high heaven, and then, in theory, having girls 'want you.' Kind of gross, right?
And the constant sex and asinine moments of passion make for no story with overt repetitive sex with no real feelings (no matter how the author assures you otherwise) makes for kind of a dull story.
In black humor you start saying, "C'mon! Tell me about more of the boobs in the room! I've already forgotten the first 2 dozen you just droned on about while your loin clothe stood out like a table top in the crowd of strangers."
Dull characters that transcend being two-dimensional and approach mono-dimensional at times. It's bad even within the scope of Male Power Fantasy fiction. I finally gave up at 42% after bodily dragging myself through the book for over a day and realised that not only wasn't I enjoying myself reading this book, but I had spent the last eight hours avoiding picking up my Kindle just so I wouldn't have to read it!
It makes my "Top 5 Worst" category.... but only barely. I really wasn't holding out much hope for this one just based on the write-up...
It's always fun to find a harem adventure with the story and concept taking precedent over the sex. When the sex comes, it's not graphic porn but more erotic leaving some to the imagination. The story itself if fun with character growth. Looking forward to the next chapter in Den's adventures.
It was a very fun read. I love the Conan references and inspiration. There are a few spelling and grammatical errors, but not nearly enough to.detract from the story.
Interesting story that does keep the reader following the story line. One thing that felt a bit odd was that the main character seems patterned after Den of the early Heavy Metal.
I really enjoyed this book, it was something a little different. It has both action and humor. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. I would strongly recommend this book.
A decent entry into the harem fantasy subgenre. I thought the politically correct undertones were a bit distracting but at least they were realistic and not cartoony. The latter half of the book does pickup some good steam and push forward towards a more promising book 2 which I will read.
This is a nice start a promising new series. I like the MC and his backstory. I hope the harem girls get fleshed out a bit more before adding too many more.
This is the first book I have read by this author. It took a bit to get into it but was well worth it. I have found another talented tale spinner who enriches my reading enjoyment.
Is this all there is of this story? If all the books I have read of this type, I would like to think it would be one of the easiest to turn into a series.
