Circuit #2

Mischief

Rate this book
Mischief was my greatest kept secret. The side of me I’d never expose. There was nothing on earth that rivaled the rush I got when I sat down inside Circuit every night, fingers twitching with the need to use hacking to change the world. Mischief lit me on fire and there was nothing that could compare.

Or so I thought.

Brett Maddison burst into my life, hair like honey and dimples deep enough to make any man’s knees weak. It was then I learned the truth. Mischief was no longer the only thing that caused my heart to pulse two beats faster and blood to blaze beneath the surface of my skin.

The feelings I had for Brett knocked me off my course and took me on a rollercoaster of emotions I’d never felt before. It took meeting him to recognize what I'd been missing, and suddenly, Mischief wasn’t the only thing in my life I craved deeply.

For a split second, I thought I'd hit the jackpot in life. I was proven wrong the moment unexplained emails began to flood my inbox and the questions they brought went unanswered.

Then I got my answer.

And everything changed.

The first book in this series (Specter) was one of my favorite reads from last year. So you can imagine how excited I was to get my hands on book two. I was even more excited when I realized it was an M/M romance featuring my favorite secondary character of book one...Ace. Throw in the fact that his love interest was going to be Sage's (heroine from Specter) brother; I knew I was in for another fantastic story.

description

So did it live up to my expectations? Hell ya, it did! I loved these two together. They made my heart all squishy. I also loved that this one had a little heat to it. Not erotica level smut, but a nice little dash of spice to tantalize us readers. Of course, the writing remains top notch. It was well paced. The plot was engaging. I maybe would have liked a bit more development in regards to the "mystery" storyline. Or at least a little more explanation on "why" the baddie was doing what he was doing, but that didn't really take away from my enjoyment of the story. I wouldn't say this one was very angsty. There wasn't any OW or OM drama. Neither were virgins. It was great to see so much of Wren and Sage again (the couple from book one), and I cannot WAIT to get my hands on Cruz's book. I am figuratively salivating for it! (lol) Last, it was all wrapped up in a super sweet happy for now ending.

Nothing much left to say. I LOVED it. I love this series. Bring on book three...

What can I say? Ace was just... ace. I loved A and B (Boo Bear). Their story warmed my heart. I have to admit this was my first M/M book. If you want sweetness, honesty, funny & heartwarming then this is the read for you.

Be still my heart! I already loved Ace from Specter. He was such a scene stealer. So when I realized book two was about him AND BRETT AKA Sage’s brother, I squealed like a tween at a BTS concert. I was so excited and let me tell you, this book did not disappoint! Mischief gave me the same ooey-gooey feelings as Specter but also some definite fire which I loooooooved! Ace and Brett’s chemistry was hot AF and boy, did it explode all over my Kindle Oasis. So damn sexy but of course, Lacey gives us the gut-wrenching-sob-inducing-heartbreaking moments that just straight up killed me. And I freaking loved it. I want to read this series over and over and I am dying for Vandal AKA Cruz’s book! I’m not ready to leave this world of badass hacktivists! I can’t get enough!

I have been waiting for Ace's book since meeting him in Specter - the first book in the Circuit Series - and I fell for him even more in Mishchief. Ace is a hacktivist who loves to have fun, but also has so much love and compassion to give. He is loyal to a fault and is the first one there to offer a hug or an ear to his friends. This book tells the story of how his relationship between him and his newly found best friend, Brett, develops. It is sweet, a bit steamy, and it will have you holding your breath waiting for their revelations to come to fruition.

What I loved the most about this book was how L Dailey portrayed these two young men, who are both navigating their own sexuality all while trying to remain "just your typical guys." I loved the scenes where they were giving each other a hard time playing video games, and then in the next instant were out to dinner - where the intimacy levels could have been completely misconstrued by the other. But all along, you just know that they get each other. Their friendship and relationship come so easily to them that it is apparent from the beginning that what they have is just different and special.

I loved Ace's gentle soul and tenderness when Brett needed him the most; and I loved that Brett was this strong sexy male who also showed his most vulnerable side to Ace - over and over again. And then he showed him his strong side! It was hot - it was passionate and I was glued to the pages following their story and where it would go. I fell for Brett and wished I could have had him as my own. ;)

This book is a bit suspenseful and will revisit all of the characters who you meet in Specter, along with the dangerous man who torments Circuit once again. But each character adds another layer to Circuit, and you will truly feel that they are a family as you get to know these characters. You will swoon over Ace & Brett, and cheer them on from the first pages. They are two characters who I will remember for a long time to come. Well done once again L Dailey!

Not sure what went wrong. Or maybe... Nothing was "wrong enough".

A hyperactive, question asking masseur with a secret, life-saving hacker alter ego? Sound good on paper and Ace is an okay character, but maybe he really does not live up to his "traits" with his actions. Because while all those things are true, they do not feel true. Mostly, Ace is just your bubbly, emotional, cuddly guy with a big heart and some issues. Maybe I prefer my criminals dark and broody. Maybe I just prefer them... "cool"? Like "Where Death Meets the Devil" cool. The main characters are plenty caring and kind of sweet but it does not take away their intimidating and dangerous points. Like, I guess that when I pick a book about criminals, I am looking for some cool-under-pressure, military training and mysterious/seen-some-shit kind of vibe.

This was a romance. Pure and simple.

No action, which might not have been bad but the romance was really romantic. And I knew it was not a romance for me when I realized they are both in love with each other - BUT don't know it! Not my favorite trope. Not my trope at all.

Maybe it's realistic but I would rather have my characters interesting and, more importantly, better than that. Books mean something else for everyone but I don't read them to experience "reality". I want to see people that lead more interesting lives and are just better as well as better at dealing with... stuff, they just have different stuff to deal with.

We all have our preferences and this is mine - no "dumb" characters, no matter how plausible and normal it is to have two oblivious guys pinning after each other.

So yes, if you want a little too quick romance with really heavy feelings - both good and bad - as well as some unusual backgrounds instead of your usual, dunno, doctor and firefighter or rich guy or just any other normal job, well this fits the bill.

Lacey Dailey, this book was amazing!!

I was caught up with circuit with the first of the series, Specter, and have been waiting for the next installment of the series. You have made Ace and Brett out perfectly and it is a beautiful story. I do not read too many MM romances, but I am so glad that I did here!

Brett is going through a crossroads in his life right now. When his younger sister was abducted and away from her family for years, he was not able to concentrate on his schoolwork and left his dream. As any older sibling knows, feeling as if you let your younger sibling down is heartbreaking and to the extent that this happened to him, almost shattered him. Now that his sister is back, he is expected just to jump back into his life, but it isn't always that easy.

Ace technically works two jobs. His day job is as a masseuse helping people feel better and his second is as Mischief ridding the world of deviants and helping protect people. He is absolutely hilarious and snarky, but with a huge heart.

This story line progressed amazingly. I loved how nothing felt rushed or was too slow and everything was able to develop organically.

This is an amazing romantic suspense with huge twists and turns and a beautiful love story in it and finding yourself.

5 outta 5 stars!

When is the next one coming out?!?

PS: I received this book as an ARC in return for my honest feedback!

This is my first book that I have read in the series and I was totally blown away. Not only is it a M/M story but it has hacking in it. I am fascinated by hackers. How they get into the computer and get into everything and anything is amazing to me. What also struck me was the slow burn of love in this story. It was not an inst love that happens over a day and they fall deeply in love and there is the happily ever after. No Lacey does an incredible job of telling this story about two men who slowly fall in love and share lots of things together.

Ace and Brett are amazing together. Ace loves hacking the internet. Nothing makes him happy until he is on the computer hacking things and getting into mischief. Then Ace meets Brett and everything in Ace's world changes for the better. He no longer lives for the computer but lives for time to spend with Brett by getting to know this guy that has totally captivated his heart.

This is an amazing story and I need to read book one because characters from book one are in this book. So I wanted to know their story so I advise reading book one first then read this one and enjoy this roller coaster ride!

Lacey Dailey continues to blow me away with this series! I fell totally in love with these characters in the first book, but I fell even deeper for them with Mischief. Ace was a favorite of mine from the start. His hilarious yet loving personality charmed me even before his book and after reading his and Brett’s story I adore him even more. Brett and him not only become quickly best friends, but have a connection that runs so much deeper than friendship. These two are the absolute definition of soulmates. Understanding each other in a way where one almost instinctively knows what the other needs even in the most emotional of times. Their friendship grows into a beautiful love that leaves your heart feeling full. All that wonderful swoony romance is capped off with some majorly edge of your seat mystery that pulls you even further into their story. I can’t wait to see what’s coming next for the members of circuit!

So this is my introduction to this series. Whilst I am sure it would be better to read them in order to get the full experience, there is enough of an explanation in this book of what's happened previously to get you through.

Ace has an alter-ego called Mischief. He is a masseuse by day and hacker by night, which has resulted in bringing down some really bad guys. This includes saving Brett's sister. Brett is a quiet man with a vulnerability about him. He is lost, not knowing where he fits in and what he wants from life. As these two grow closer, Ace brings him back to life and helps him finds his way.

I loved the sweetness between Ace and Brett. Equally the banter between the members of Circuit was something else I loved about this book. I feel as though I have missed something by jumping into book 2 so I will go back and indulge in book 1 to get the full experience. A really good read though.

This was a pretty good book. It turned out to be the second in a series, and even though the story of Ace and Brett was a standalone, I think the book would have been better if I had read the first one. The "bad guy" was the same in both books but in this one he's already in prison and unable to actually do anything to the group. Also, it was pretty easy to figure out the meaning behind the messages.

Ace and Brett do have a great relationship. Both are dealing with trauma that no one else seems to notice. They are each other's rock and support. I liked how they encouraged each other. They are also quite funny together.

Overall, not a bad book at all but not a favorite. This book was like meeting someone at an airport and chatting and having a good time while you are waiting together, but knowing you will never see them again and are fine with that. I'm glad I read it but won't seek out the rest of the series.

Oh just take my 5 stars again! I can't deal! I'm so in love with the story!

After reading Specter I fell so hard for Lacey Dailey and her writing. It was unique and so captivating to follow. The story twisted with emotion and heart just keeps you begging for more and let me tell you Mischief does just that all over again.

Meeting Ace and Brett in Specter had me knowing that I needed more of them and by all means did this provide. I loved the chemistry and build up of their relationship along with how they handled their personal struggles.

With Brett still coping with having his sister back after she was kidnapped and Ace learning to handle keeping a secret of his exceptional work as a hacktavist from his crush worthy roommate they face struggles.

However despite the struggles of holding secrets and handling their lives changing with past demons coming to arise they end up finding something between one another.

Their love blossoms and with the sweetness and flirtatious connection between the two adorable guys they are a match made in heaven. I just kept wanting more and more. Ace can't help asking random questions and Brett can't help answering them. This chemistry is undeniable and helps them create a relationship that is unbreakable.

With the depth of their love for each other and the detailed story that twines their lives closer together it creates an emotional and endearing story to read.

I can't wait to read more by Lacey Dailey becuase if there is one thing she can do, that is write a phenomenal story with lovable characters.
