All For You

Gone For You

Rate this book
Ethan,

I wasn’t expecting to find you. The night was only supposed to be a celebration for my friend, but I couldn’t stop my heart, or body, from being drawn to you.
Then I got to know you and you chipped away every wall I’d built around my heart.
You don’t know how many times I found reasons to talk to you. To see you.
It has to stop.
There’s this distance between us I can’t control.
Damn you and your dimple for being so irresistible.
I wish I wasn’t so Gone for You.

Olivia,

I knew I wouldn’t be able to let you go the night you walked into my bar. Everything in me screams to keep you close.
I’m ready to move forward, to stop making excuses to see you, but I know you need more time.
You’ve created this distance between us to protect your heart, but you have to know it’s safe with me.
The moments you give me aren’t enough.
I want you forever and I’ll stop at nothing to make it happen.
After all, I’m so Gone for You.

Gone for You is the first of three standalone contemporary romances in the new All for You series. There's elements of brother's best friend and friends to lovers romance with a love that's built over time.

AHHHH!!!! Gone For You was so good.
I really enjoyed this book.it captured me from the very first chapter until the very end.

You can't fault this book. The characters are just to die for.
Ethan is *sigh just dreamy. I can't help it...so dreamy. Whereas Liv is witty and such a lovely yet fun character to read about.
Their chemistry is undeniable and it makes for such a fun, quirky, hilarious read that is also super sexy and it honestly tingles your senses.

You guys should definitely give this one a read!
I for one am going to read more from this author.

They met once 10 years ago and it was briefly, they flirted with each other until he founds out she was his friend/neighbor’s 17 year old sister.
Both not celibate after meeting each other.

He bartend in his own bar, women flirt with him same as he but he says that he only do it for the tips.
I don’t drink and I don’t know if the drinks the author mention here really exist or if she was trying to be funny. The drink was called “Slut juice” but heroine slut shamed the women who ordered this drink saying something like slut juice is basically their blood type. I did not find this funny. I hate when women slut shamed other women. Heroine was a pathetic little girl who acted like a jealous girlfriend and the hero didn’t even remembered her at all.

“Uh huh. I probably just saved you from about four STD’s.” “From who? The…” “Trio of boobs. Yes. I mean, seriously, who orders slut juice when it’s obvious it’s basically their blood type.”
She’s talking how she saved him from 4 stds but she slept with him without any protection. Saying she was clean and that she had an IUD, well honey, an IUD doesn’t protect from the crabs, HIV and other STDs.

I liked the hero more than half of the book, he had a good heart. But when the conflict arose he was a dick to her. Treating her horrible for a couple of days and he broke up with her, he was upset that she didn’t fight for him. Excuse me! He screamed at her, he was a dick, he wasn’t even talking to her, he was ignoring her and barely acknowledged her existence and he’s upset that she didn’t fight for him? He sure didn’t care that she was scared of him breaking her heart and that’s the first thing he did after he promised her throughout the whole book that she was safe with him! And then she was the one groveling, agreeing with him that she didn’t fight for him and when he told her that he failed her she said that he didn’t. Even her brother kinda blamed her saying that she didn’t fight for him.

I was so done with both of them! I expected him to go after her and beg for her forgiveness but 2 months went by and she was the one going after his ass.? Call me a bitch but why the heck women need to beg and grovel?

4 stars!

Jennifer Van Wyk is an auto-read author for me. Her stories are sweet, sexy and emotional with minimal angst and drama. They make me swoon and fall in love, and her heroes are to die for! And she has delivered another fantastic read with this book – add in the brother’s best friend element, and I loved it!

Olivia was just 17 when she first laid eyes on Ethan. She was visiting her older brother, Owen, and Ethan was his friend and neighbour. They shared an immediate attraction, which was squashed when Ethan discovered how young she was, and then her brother told Ethan to keep his hands off. Both of them knew nothing could ever come from it.

Fast forward ten years later and Ethan is now running his own bar, and then in wanders Olivia. The spark between them is still very much there, and this time Olivia is all grown up. After a night of banter and flirty glances, Ethan asks her out and so begins a glorious, romantic, swoony and chemistry-filled love story. Neither Ethan nor Olivia hide their attraction, they follow their hearts and revel in being together, and we get to see every glorious moment of it! The teasing and banter, getting to know each other, spending time together and the sizzling, steamy chemistry, it’s intense and gorgeous and they embrace it with open arms.

“How can there be so much between us already?”
“Don’t know. But I trust my instincts and they’re telling me to hang on tight.”

Olivia is only in town visiting, she lives four hours away, and though they don’t define what’s going on between them, neither is ready for it to be over, so their relationship continues over phone calls, texts and skype, and again, we get to watch as every encounter brings them closer and closer together, and it’s really beautifully done. I laughed at their joking and swooned at the romantic stuff, and I felt it all along with them as they fall hard.

But Olivia is scared. She’s had a difficult life and she’s been through a lot which has left her frightened of fully giving herself to somebody, and she’s put walls up to protect herself. Ethan is aware of this and though he is struggling with personal issues of his own, he is pure perfection as he supports and cares for Olivia, fighting for his girl, and I loved it!!

“I’m scared, Ethan.”
“I know you are. Push past it. I got you and won’t let you fall.”
“I’m already falling.”
“Thank fuck.”

On one hand it all seems to easy and natural, but on the other, their fears and scars from the past have left their mark and there is some drama and angst as they work through it all. There are twists and turns and more than one surprise, and it’s really emotional in places, but they have friends and family who are loving and supporting them through it, and I loved watching them work through it all to find a happy ending.

This book is the beginning of Van Wyk’s All For You series, the next book is for Ethan’s friend and fellow bartender, Rex, and I’m assuming that Owen will also get a book. The story setups are already there, and I’m so freaking excited for what’s to come! Fans of Jennifer’s will also love the tie-in with her previous books (Olivia’s best friend, Lily is the daughter of James from A Better Place), so that brings that whole crew into the mix, which was a really fun addition.

I love this book. It’s sweet, funny, sexy and swoony, and I’m eagerly awaiting more.

4 stars!

My first book from the author.
Liv and Ethan 's story is sweet, cute. They both are beautiful people. I really liked them.
Evan is perfect. Funny ,strong, charming, generous, loyal... He's ready to do everything for his relationship with Liv to work.
Liv is adorable and kind.
That's love at first sight for them. The chemistry between them is strong and beautiful.
But sometimes i found them a bit childish.
And most of all... until nearly 70% nothing really happen. They learn to know each other, that's cute but a bit boring so i skipped some scenes. When finally something happened my interest was lost.
So a 3 stars for me.

I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

This book hits all the marks for me, with elements of best friend’s sister, second chance, small town romance, and not one, but two ‘meet cutes’! I’m totally gone for Jennifer Van Wyk’s love stories! Her words flow effortlessly, the characters are always fun and interesting, and the storylines make me smile and swoon.

Olivia and Ethan have a short but unforgettable chance meeting with instant chemistry, but that’s where it ends. Fast forward ten years, when she walks into his bar, they discover that time has done nothing to quell their intense attraction. Their undeniable connection quickly leads to a relationship with no label because Liv is afraid to commit and she has her walls firmly intact, but luckily Ethan has the patience of a saint. Unfortunately, they don’t live in the same place forcing them to get to know one another long distance. I loved their getting to know each other phone conversations...pretty hilarious!

This book was funny, sexy, steamy, and although I was waiting for the angsty part, it was completely different from what I was expecting. The added unexpected twists were a welcome surprise. As always, love the tie in with characters from her other books!

Gone For You is the first book I've read by Jennifer Van Wyk and I absolutely loved it! I was grabbed from the first page and like a mad woman wrapped myself in this story of a forbidden romance having a second chance for love ten years later. The characters are so strong and captivating, they found their way into my heart. The hero Ethan is like no other, a dominant alpha male bar owner who can love to the extreme, he cares about others and has a fear of abandonment. The heroine Olivia has major trust issues that can have her pushing away the greatest thing in her life.

This story has such a strong emphasis on friendship, all those secondary characters have such an impact on the lives of this couple. The bond of friendship or the brotherly love made it more realistic for me and had me wanting that HEA for Ethan and Olivia. This story is well-written and it left me a fan of this author. I want to read every book to come in the All For You series.

The bar in this story counts as a character, right? It's such a unique name, I love it!!

I also fell in love w/ Ethan & Liv, and HIGHLY enjoyed their getting to know each other time. The author's use of text & phone conversations, the pacing & way those are laid out, was quite genius! I had several LOL moments along w/ the characters! The story also ratchets up the steam factor, building on their trust for each other. And they have a lot of fun in the bedroom - bantery goodness is ALWAYS a win in my eyes!!

Although the beginning of their story is light & fun, they do have some things to work through, and there's a lot of emotional depth throughout. Highly, highly enjoyable story, and I LOOOOVE that we get to not only see some friends from other stories, but the way they're involved in the story. THUMBS UP!! : )

First I love Jennifer's words. Ethan and Liv are both kind and compassionate. They had met before but now they are totally connected. Liv is cute, funny and sexy and Ethan is totally enchanted with her. They both have commitment issues do to people in lives leaving them. Ethan pushes Liv away after some issues come to light about his mom and sister. They are both in love but too scared to fight. They are protecting their hearts. Ethan realizes he should not have pushed her away. I love how they both realize in taking risks the rewards are worth it. I love all secondary characters in this story and am always happy when friends from previous books return. I am very excited for Rex and Chloe's story.

Gone for You is sweet and swoony. It is a slow moving, friends to lovers story that follows Ethan and Olivia’s journey of discovering the depth of their feelings for each other.

“I have an extreme level of patience. Because anything worth having in your life forever is worth the wait.”

At the beginning of the story the characters felt very young and almost juvenile. The pace of the story seemed a little ‘lazy-daisy’ until well after the halfway point. But when it picked up pace, it had me caught up and flipping right up to the end.

The heart wants what it wants. A cute little ditty, but no less true. Prepare to get swept away by your heart. Gone for You wraps itself around your deepest emotions and refuses to let go. Ethan and Olivia are learning how to fall in love, even though their fragile emotions continue to get in the way. Wyk creates an alluring melody that ties the heart in knots, but continues to keep it coming back for more.

Have you ever felt like, with just one look you knew instantaneously that one person was going to change your life? Have you ever felt such a connection to someone, that you just knew that person was your soulmate? That is all it takes for Ethan, the moment Olivia steps into his bar he just knows, she is his forever, and he will stop at nothing to make that happen.

This small town story is so beautiful and beyond relatable. Jennifer created such a great storyline with instant attraction but timing and life doesn’t work on our side but sometime later these characters get their chance and it’s sizzling and so enjoyable.

I love Jennifer Van Wyk's writing! I love her small town romance feel. This book was great with Ethan and Liv! They meet, fall for each other but live far apart! Their connection is well written and I love their phone conversations as they get to know each other.

This book gave all the feels of great chemistry, real life conversations, made me laugh, of course there's a twist but it all makes sense. I love all the characters- old and new!

Whatever Jenifer Van Wyk writes- I want to read! her books just take me to a happy place and wanting more!

Get ready to be gone for this book and don't have anything to do once you start because you will not want to stop. Ethan and Olivia first meet and are captivated by each other but Ethan finds out she's only 17 and one of his friend's sister. Then they meet again 10 years later at Ethan's bar. The chemistry is still there and even better. When he sees Olivia for the second time, he is so blown away by her that he immediately has to get the first date on the calendar and he doesn't wait till like dinner but breakfast.

Ethan has been through so much in his life that you would almost expect him to not even want a woman in his life except for no strings. Olivia has had a couple of bad relationships where she wasn't treated good & didn't have the best role model relationship with her parents so she doesn't believe that you would ever be gone for someone. Their first date at the diner for breakfast was so good. You'll be laughing so hard one minute and then swooning the next.

Their undeniable connection quickly leads to a relationship but yet it's not really a relationship because Liv is afraid to commit to anyone. At one point he thought "...I have an extreme level of patience. Because anything worth having in your life forever is worth the wait." Can you say swoon worthy? I literally was like oh if only there were men like that.

So they get to know each other through some amazing phone conversations since they don't live close to each other. Those phone conversations are the absolute BEST!!! They learned so much about each other and had such quality time talking and just getting to know each other. I literally died laughing when he had her guessing something while on the phone and she said "You had a good poop". He was like "Wow. There's really no subject off limits now, huh?". I thought I was going to die. You can't help but just love them as a couple & root for them.

This book was funny, sexy, steamy, and although you know there is going to be some kind of complication, it was definitely not what I expected. Those added unexpected twists were a welcome surprise. It's also great to have the tie in with characters from Jennifer's other books.

So it was yet another AMAZING book and make sure you pick it up (and any of Jennifer's other books if you haven't read them). I love everything she has done and Ethan (with the dimple) and Liv were amazing. I can't wait to read the next ones in the series. I'm hoping we will get to hear more on Oliva's brother Owen and Ethan's friend Rex.

Jennife Van Wyk starts off a new series of standalones with Gone For You -- and it is a real gem! I easily read this book in an evening because I was so taken with Ethan and Olivia's story.

The pair first meet in the prologue, 10 years earlier, when Liv is on her way to visit her older brother, Owen. She meets "Hotstuff" in the hallway of the apartment building, and their flirty banter follows them all the way up to the third floor… at which point, Ethan discovers that she's not just his buddy's younger sister, but only 17 years old. The story picks up a decade later when Liv happens to be in the bar Ethan now owns and runs, and the instant attraction between them has not dimmed over time.

Much of the book is their long-distance romance as they get to know one another through phone calls and text messages. It's a plot device that I personally love, because I enjoy falling in love with the couple as they are falling in love with one another. The weekends that they do get to spend together are magical, but Liv is hesitant to really go all-in when it comes to the relationship. She's carrying around some major baggage as a result of being cheated on in the past (as well as the infidelity that lead to her parents' divorce), and Ethan has the patience of a saint. He's just that sure of what they have together. So it's quite shocking when he realizes that HE has some baggage of his own.

I appreciated that there is no outside/ex drama involved in the split that happens between Ethan and Liv. They both need to do some soul-searching and reflection to get their ish together in order to have a healthy relationship. But words hurt, and the things that Ethan says to Liv in a moment of anger may have cut too deep and caused too much damage. Also, since Owen lives far away himself, he's not a constant presence in their lives. But it's enough that Liv has reservations in confiding in her brother. Thankfully, Owen is totally supportive, and actually plays a big role in helping Ethan and Liv reunite.

I enjoyed this story so much, and can't wait to see what happens next with Chloe and Ethan's buddy, Rex! And I hope that Owen finds someone to help heal his broken heart some day! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Do you need a swoonworthy, sexy, emotionally mature and protective hero with a heart of gold and brilliant sense of humor? Do you want to read about the most amazing, caring , sassy and beautiful girl who is just scared to fall in love? What about an epic story of love , life, friendship, family and second chances? Well I have just the one for you. Jennifer Van Wyk's new contemporary romance, "Gone for You".

Olivia met her brothers friend and neighbour Ethan for few awkward minutes in hallway at seventeen years of age. But the moment is etched in her memory forever. Now ten years later they meet again in The Flying Goat, a bar Ethan owns. They feel instant connection with each other. But they have tons of issues. Olivia has trust issues and scepticism about relationships from her parents' divorce. Ethan has a lot of abandonment issues. They gradually but surely fall deeply in love. But their hangover from the past is threatening to destroy everything.

I love Olivia. If I could bat for the other team, I would propose to her. She is hiding so much pain and anger behind her chirpy and sassy demeanour. She loves with all her heart but scared to let go completely. Ethan is perfect for her. Oh this guy is totally prince charming. Well not so gentleman in bed but otherwise he is someone you dream of. He makes Olivia so special. He is special. I do hate him a bit for breaking Olivia's heart. I was just so sad when it happened. But all is well when it ends well.

Jennifer Van Wyk's storytelling amazed me. She switched from flirty hilarious conversations to deep emotional moments to sexy sizzling chemistry effortlessly. Her writing is very vivid, detailed and visual. The scenes played like a movie in my mind. The characters, the extensive secondary characters and solid plot made this one a great read. I was totally lost in the pages.

Meeting Ethan years ago left an indelible impression on a 17-year old Liv's heart. Now, years later, she sees the gorgeous guy again, and it doesn't look like he remembers her. But it doesn't matter, because it's not like she would start something with her brother's friend, even if he did recognize her. She's got relationship fears. He's got abandonment issues. The two have no business being in a relationship with those kinds of demons, anyway. Right?

Hmmm...Gone For You didn't really work for me. It's not a horrible story, or badly written, I just didn't find it terribly compelling or very interesting. I also didn't particularly like either Liv or Ethan. I found them both a bit boring, as well as the story, and not a whole heck of a lot happened until the end when Ethan suddenly snapped and went off on poor Liv. That was the first time in the story that I found something exciting happen, unfortunately, it wasn't a positive kind of exciting, as Ethan was an asshole in that instance. Both characters had too much baggage and I didn't find their reunion very convincing, nor were their I love you declarations very convincing. All in all, I just didn't find myself liking or connecting with Gone For You and its lead characters.

Gone for You is the first book in the All For You series by the fabulous and funny Jennifer Van Wyk. I get all tingly and giggly when I hear one of my favorite authors is starting a new series. Jennifer is one of the best small town romance writers out there. Gone for You is small town, best friend's sister AND second chance (kinda). All my favorites! Olivia and Ethan met briefly years ago. They were instantly attracted to each other, but she was only seventeen and his friend's sister. Now it's ten years later and she walks into his bar. She knows who he is. He's even more handsome now and she can't stop looking at him. Flirting. He knows he knows her, but it takes him a while to figure it out. As soon as he does all bets are off. He wants to talk to her. Touch her. Date her. He's not hesitant or afraid. He just wants her. There are only a few small problems. She doesn't live there and she's his friend's sister. But Ethan isn't going to let anything deter him from having Liv. Their attraction was instant and keeps getting stronger and stronger. But they both have pasts that make them weary of relationships. Will they let their fears rip them apart? I loved this story! These characters are fantastic with their sexy banter and openness. Ethan is fun, handsome and sexy. Liv is strong, beautiful and sweet. I loved the secondary characters and can't wait for more from this series.

Olivia goes to visit her brother in college and runs into a super hot guy. Turns out it’s her brother’s friend and neighbor. Only being 17 at the time her brother warns his friend to stay away.
Ethan owns his own bar and meets a lot of women, but still remembers the 17 year old girl he met like 10 years prior, but hasn’t seen since that night. Until one day she ends up in his bar and they have an immediate connection.
I loved this story. It’s a little sexier than what Jennifer Van Wyk normally writes but it worked for Ethan and Olivia. I Love this storyline, I love the chemistry between them and how natural their relationship feels. This book had me laughing in several spots, there were many romantic heart warming moments, some touching sweet moments and quite a few sexy moments. I loved getting a glimpse of characters from her other books, but if you have never read any of them it doesn’t affect the story. I was definitely rooting for Ethan and Olivia and did feel sad for them in a couple of spots but I was over joyed at the end when they got their happily ever after and the journey they had to get there. I would definitely recommend this book!

Gone For You by Jennifer Van Wyk is the first book in her All For You series and I loved it! Though it is a new series and can be read as a standalone, long-time readers will enjoy catching up with some old friends! This was a sweet and charming story with some angst and all kinds of feels.

Ethan and Olivia have undeniable chemistry from their first encounter and every time afterwards. Both of them hit it off immediately. I loved their easy banter and how they get to know each other. They live in different states but know what is happening between them is worth taking a chance. But when you have two people who have been hurt in the past, can they truly let the other in?

I loved Gone For You by Jennifer Van Wyk. It was so freaking charming and a delightful read. I devoured this book in one sitting! The characters were imperfect and struggled with personal issues, but together they were amazing. I am excited to see what else comes in this series.

I Voluntarily Reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book!

In my head I always refer to a new book by this author as "The Jennifer Van Wyk" Chronicles. Each book reminds me of home, love and sacrifice. The stories and characters become my family and touch me soul deep.

Ethan & Liv's story was a magical second chance love story. The intense chemistry was there from the beginning. Yet, it took 10 years for it to really start and develop into something greater than a character could have imagined or realized. The amount of sizzling Sparks between these two was not lost. However, their souls were drifting into another path neither could have predicted. With past demons and feelings of abandonment arising, these two have a lot the weather. Yet, their storm is all in their heads. Their hearts are what matters and when it becomes apparent that this is the case, will it be apparent to them?

Loved this novel and all those previously by this author. She has a special talent at writing earth quaking love stories.

Ten years ago Ethan bumped into this beautiful girl in his apartment building, and it was instant attraction, but once he found out that she was his best friends little sister, he put the brakes on the attraction. She was off limits, and well, a little younger than he thought. But ten years later when Olivia wanders into his bar, all bets are off, that once discovered attraction is back full force, as well as some serious chemistry. They quickly hit it off, and spend the weekend getting to know one another, but when the weekend comes to an end and she has to return home, he doesn't want to let her go. So a long distance relationship is proposed, but with Olivia's hang-ups on serious relationships, and his family drama, it's hard to tell if it will last.

Gone For You comes brimming with all the good stuff to squeeze your heart and stir up the feels, the moment you meet this couple you will fall for them! I really enjoyed this newest offering from this author, the story line was captivating, the characters were well crafted and came with palpable chemistry. They proved that distance is no problem when it comes to true love, with just a little dedication and belief anything is possible. I am excited to see where this series takes us next, if it's anything like this first adventure I have no doubt that I will enjoy it! Highly recommend this one, it's good on the heart, and full of moments to make you swoon!

I requested an advanced copy of this title, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed this book!! Jennifer’s books are a must buy on release day and read! I first feel in love with her stories in Feels Like Home! I’d recommend reading From the Ground Up and A Better Place first though!!!!

Olivia and Ethan are both afraid of commitment. They both have their reasons for it. One you can understand a little more and the other you’re kept wondering a little.

Olivia knows there is something special about Ethan the first time she laid eyes on him. So, when she runs into him again she knows she can’t let him go. The only issue is she’s a different person and doesn’t trust fully. Can she learn to trust Ethan to be the man she needs?

Ethan doesn’t do relationships. He says it’s because the right woman hasn’t come along. He knows once Liv walks into his bar that she’s special. He does everything to make sure that she knows he’s serious about her and wants her, but when the curve ball is thrown he spirals. Can they save each other?

I enjoyed this book and I’m excited for the next book!!! I need some answers!!!!!

If you’re a Jennifer Van Wyk fan, you will find this book is a little different from her usual writing. If you’ve never read her books, you will quickly become a fan of her writing. What I love the most about Jennifer’s books is the build up of the character’s relationships. They actually get to know each other and this book is no different. Olivia is sassy, funny, and has a smart mouth. Ethan is down to earth, funny, and her perfect match. They compliment each other so well that it’s like they’ve known each other forever. Though they fit together perfect, they both have issues from their families. Olivia is afraid to trust and love. Ethan is scarred from his mom. To be together, they both have to overcome their heartache left by their parents and others. Their story is one of love from the beginning but they have to dig deep to let it bloom and let the other in. When they do, it’s just magic.

Ethan and Olivia meet years before when she was visiting her brother in college. They are so taken with each other in their brief few minutes of talking. But, years pass and they meet again in his bar. He is so taken with her, as so is she. They are so smitten with each other but Liv is keeping her feelings at bay because of past experiences with her parents and her ex boyfriends.

While I enjoyed this book, I found her reasoning for not going all in quite annoying. Some of the time it really felt like she was being sooooo childish. I felt bad for Ethan. But, in order to get to their HEA, I know they had to endure some drama. I've always enjoyed this authors books, the interconnected characters in this series are really enjoyable.

I would recommend this book. Its a good friends to lovers romance book, steamy and sweet.

Another fantastic book by Jennifer!! I love how she puts such emotion in her writing. Also, putting crisis’ that can happen to anybody in any given day. That makes the book come to life for me. Ethan and Liv were meant to be together from the moment they set eyes on one another. However, they had wait! And then, boom! Once meeting again their relationship takes off! The chemistry these two share is off the charts. Both them had issues to over come. Insecurities for Liv and abandonment issues for Ethan. It took some interfering from family and friends to help these two see what they have for one another after they almost blew it! Appearances of people from her other books is always a nice surprise. I feel like it pulls them all together! I really enjoyed this book and I recommend reading it!
