The Phoenix Empire #1

The Knight of Inner Light

Rate this book
When Wes's village is destroyed by bandits, he awakens to a new, powerful magic that he doesn't understand, and doesn't even truly control. This power leaves him with newfound responsibilities, and problems, as he struggles to keep important promises to those around him and those long gone as the world around him begins a slow, painful descent into chaos and darkness as demons begin roaming the lands for the first time in an Age.

Wes's power might just be able to make the difference and save everyone, but he's just one boy.

Beyond demons and darkness, Wes has to come to terms with the fear that magic, especially his own immense new power invokes in the people of the Kingdom of Strata, as well as the class system that leaves the nobility towering over those they deem beneath themselves.

Even if he manages to save the Kingdom, and those around him, will he still be a good person when all is said and done?

Robuster

I gave this story a four star because it is an excellent tale for the just turned teenager.
Wes is a great role model , the story has no sexual scenes and very little bad language. It does have violence by the buses full.
It’s a tried and true formula of this genre.
I recommend it for any teenager.

This guy took a Reddit writing prompt and RAN

Impressive , from one tiny writing prompt on a subreddit to at least 2 volumes . I think this is a nice book, classic hero story. I am going to share it with my son, this is a great book for the age when they can read regular novels but aren't quite ready for ASOIAF.

Unexpected yet fun adventure

This story surprised me, after the opening scene, this story takes many twists. There’s quite a few grammatical errors, nothing that detracts from the story, just annoying. The 4 stars are due to the inconsistencies that crop up. All in all, it’s a good read.

Good book

A nice coming of age story with a likeable mc and a good story. The sudden gain of a powerful magic was not well explained but past that it was fun to read. Will definitely get the next book

Very hard to put down

Story flows smoothly and the main character grows and develops with his experience as the plot progresses. New aspects characters blend in smoothly and enhance the story.
