Something is brewing high in the Colorado Mountains, a battle that will determine the future of an entire town and all the shifters who call it home and test the powers of a witch who has made that town her new home.

Annabelle is tired of other people running her life, tired of them making her decisions, and tired of them using the power of her magic for their own gain, and that includes her fiancé. Determined to change all that, she rejects that life and strikes out on her own in a place so far from her old life she’s sure that everything will be different. And it is at first, but when she falls in love, she realizes that her old life still has a hold on her and always will, that she can’t change who she is only who she loves.

Still wounded from the loss of his wife, Justin is determined not to relive the mistakes of his past, he has a wonderful family and an adorable little girl, more than enough to keep him happy. But then Annabelle walks into his life and he’s forced to question the path he’s chosen and confront the ghosts of his past. Annabelle helps him discover that those ghosts have been laid themselves to rest, leaving him ready for love again. But the secret he’s been keeping from her threatens their love when he must defend not only his territory but the shifters who depend on him.

Will the universe allow them their love or will the forces of evil that have been unleashed upon them destroy that love?

I received this book as a gift and I would like to give an honest opinion of what I read.

I really did enjoy this books, it was short but it still had a good plot to it. This is one book that I liked because it allowed me to escape from the world that I live in for a little while and sometime I think that is something that we all need to do every once in a while.

Justin is a shifter but this is where the story is a little different from some of the other books I have read. He prefers to shift into a mountain lion but has the ability to also shift into other animals as well. The story starts out with him turning 18 and in his family and the group that he is of that is the age of becoming an adult. He has know that he would someday have to take on the role of leadership but was not happy about the fact that his father was making him go to college. That is until that night when his father took him aside and explained to him that the world was changing and that he needed to have the knowledge that the college would give him to lead the people into that change.

Beth Norton was turning 18 as well and was excited about going to college. She had at one time didn’t know if the time would come for her. She had been in and out of hospitals for the last six years; that is up until four months ago. Her mother who had constantly been there monitoring everything that she did, and ate to try and keep her healthy was strongly opposed to the idea of her going so far off to college. She had, had so much control over Beth’s lift that she didn’t know or want to give it up. Instead she refused to go with Beth from their home on the East Coast to her help her set up her dorm room all the way to Colorado University; the same school that Justin was going going to.

Beth and Justin meet the day they arrived. She pulled up behind them and watched as his entire family helped to unload his things and carry them into his dorm. She envied them having such a close net relationship and was trying to think how she was going to get her things into her dorm room. She takes everything out of her car to figure out what she really needed to take in when Justin’s family offered to help her and just started to pick things up. She was so drawn to Justin and she didn’t quit understand it. She had been so sheltered while she was sick she never had a chance to really make friends, let alone boy friends. On one occasion late at night Justin heard a scream and heard drunken guys laughing in his need to help he shifted to protect her and once it was over he ran to the woods coming right back to find out if she was all right. It was then that they both started their relationship together. It was later that she found out that he was a shifter but she was not concerned with that she loved him; the problem was going to be with their parents. How were the going to get their parent to understand their relationship, or are they going to do their best to break them apart.

Reviewed at Shifter Haven

"Justin" begins the intriguing series, Fairplay Shifters, which blends shifters, witches, magic and more into a world that is rich with possibilities.  I was easily caught up in this world that offers small town living, a bit of magic, shifters defending their territory and two people who find each other at just the right moment in their lives.  Eash has a different type of pain from their pasts, yet each is also ready to move forward to a future together... eventually.  First, there are secrets each is keeping, worries that may or may not matter in the long run for it seems that fate and the threat of a violent battle for this peaceful valley are about to erupt.

There are threads woven throughout this story that reveal, little by little, what this couple and their families are facing in the coming fight.  Until they trust each other with all of their truths they are certain to fail.  It makes for an interesting story now, and an intriguing background for the rest of the series to unfold around.  I enjoyed "Justin" very much.  And I'm fortunate in that there are several stories available in this series out now so I can do a bit of binge reading to get caught up.  I don't want to give much away, I feel that the cover description tells you what you need to know to grab your attention to pick up this story.  I would recommend it for any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader who enjoys the blending of shifters and witches, unique family dynamics and a few puzzles to sort out.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

If you started this series with book one, you can first meet Justin and his first love in the prequel by signing up for the prequel in the author’s newsletter. Very sweet story! In book one, Justin is now in his thirties with a 12-year-old daughter, Chloe. They still live on the family ranch taking care of it and the shifters they brought into the fold. Annabelle and her identical twin sister, Joslin, are on their way to Las Vegas when their car breaks down in Fairplay. They are witches who belong to a coven in New York. When they stay in Fairplay, Anabelle has the sensation she belongs there and applies for a teacher position. Justin has not even looked at another woman since losing his first love, Beth. Now, he feels an undeniable connection to Anabelle. When Anabelle receives the teaching position, she moves to Fairplay feeling the same connection to Justin. Their romance will be fraught with all kinds of complications. First, they do not know what one another are, Chloe is experiencing signs of her first shift, Justin is fighting the feelings, and there are predators with a huge secret terrorizing those in the valley! It will take a group effort to fight these predators and who will come out the winner? Who will die? This is a start of a great new series!

After reading the prequel to this series I couldn't wait for more from this very talented author and when I received it I wasn't disappointed

This is a paranormal story that has it all you have a witch in Annabelle and a shape shifting mountain lion in Justin. Annabelle and her sister are stranded n the town of Fairplay when there car breaks down on the way to Las Vegas and she falls in love with the town Justin is running with his brothers when he smells his mate but how can that be he lost his mate a number of years ago and is now a single dad. When Annabelle moves to Fairplay and becomes a teacher at the local school Justin can no longer avoid her and his lion is continually calling mate and when she feels the call to they can no longer deny it. There is plenty of fun and laughter and quite a few misadventures before these two finally give into the true love that has blossomed between them Looking forward to more great fun books in this series

Justin is a widower now; his wife died giving life to their daughter now 12. Justin is playing hide-and-seek with his brothers and goes close to ton and catches the scent of a woman causing him to desire her intensely. Justin smells the woman again she is there on his ranch for horseback riding. Annabelle decides she wants to move to Fairplay to be a teacher and she applies and gets the job. I enjoyed this love story except that I read Fairplay Shifters Prequel first in which Justin meet his wife in college and didn’t grow up together and in Prequel his wife’s name was Beth not Jenny. Justin is hiding he’s a shifter and Annabelle is hiding that she’s a witch. They get into serious trouble and end up needing their special abilities to save each other. This book was middle of the road. I borrowed the set and only made it through the first book.
I think the idea was good, the plot was there, it just needed to be cleaned up. A lot.

He's a shifter who scents his mate, then denies the connection and cuts off as much contact as possible so he won't be tempted. She's a witch and can tell there's something different about him and his daughter, but she doesn't know what. They go through some drama because they don't want to communicate and risk rejection, but it's pretty straightforward. I liked her a lot more than him.

Stuff happened, but it's basically the plot if I tell you the hows and whys. Borrow it. Try it out. See for yourself if the author is comfortable fit. Her writing style is not quite my cup of tea, but it's not bad.

This is the first book I have read of Serena Meadows, and I enjoyed it very much. We have love, adventure, lies and more. Annabelle and her twin sister are witch's. Justin is a shifter. Annabelle is looking for a peaceful life when she and her sister get stranded in Fairplay while on a trip. Justin is raising his daughter, whos mother past away. When they meet sparks fly, but neither what's to let the other know the truth about themselves. What will happen will they stay apart? Will they come to love each other, but not tell each other the truth? If the truth comes out what will the other do? I received a free copy for my honest review.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Fairplay Shifters: Justin by Serene Meadows is Book One in a new shifter series. This is Justin and Annabelle's story. I really found myself enjoying the setup and the way the storyline developed. There are a very strong set of primary characters and an amazingly intricate set of secondary characters that I can't wait to read more about. This is a book about growth and love, responsibility to ourselves and others, the importance of communication and honesty. Great read, lots of fun and deep running emotions!

I really enjoyed the story of a woman trying to reclaim her life and finds the perfect place for a new home and the perfect man for her. It just takes him some time for him to admit that she is his mate and he can't be without her.

I liked that she had strength to her and wasn't satisfied with having others determine her life. She also wasn't willing to sit back and let her life be ruined by any man. Justin is a good man who is struggling with his feelings but doesn't want to hurt anyone. His daughter is so sweet.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

What a good story mix with witches and shifters! Also, add magic to the mix and you have a great story line. Romance just makes it better! Annabelle and Justin are the main protagonists in this, set in Fairplay in the mountains! She and her twin arrive there with car troubles and Annabelle decides she likes the town enough to want to stay! Enter Justin and his daughter and a connection between them and you have a romance that ensues.

I am leaving this review freely and with no reservations after receiving an ARC copy

I read the prequel to the series first. The names for his first wife and how they met are not the same. This story without the prequel would have been more enjoyable for me, because the referrals are all wrong. The story stands on its own and the romance and action play is well written. An author should always keep to what she has written in another book as close as possible. Readers like me will catch out bad errors and the wrong name for his first wife is one of them.

I voluntarily reviewed this book for an honest review. I just wanted to write and let you know how much I enjoyed the book and cannot wait for the next one out.  I particularly enjoyed the interaction between a cougar and witch, how they complimented each other and worked toward becoming a new family. I cannot wait to see how it plays out for Joslin and  Penny.  They both need strong men.

Overall, again a real good story Serena, I definitely can't wait to read more. Laura Dimick

Disappointing

What a shame! A good story line poorly executed. The characters felt 'thin', the dialogue stilted, and the movement from one scene to the next was jarring.
Oh, and the intimate/sexy moments appeared to have been written by someone who's heard about good sex and thought about it a bit but has never actually experienced it.

A powerful witch and a mountain lion shifter

If I could give this author/story10 stars, I would gladly do so. These characters are full of life and draw one in from the first page. I wanted so much to know what happened and why the wolf hated Justin so much, I could not stop reading.

Justin

Justin knew Annabelle was his from the first scent. He wasn't ready to love again. Annabelle knew Fairplay was the place she belonged as soon as she arrived in town. She felt the attraction for Justin but he kept his distance.
Wonderful story. I fell in love with the characters.

Brilliant Series

Justin: Fairplay Shifters by Serena Meadows. Annabelle arrived in Fairplay when her car broke down and immediately felt at home. She met Justine and the attraction was mutual however both were hiding a secret. Annabelle is a witch and Justin is a mountain lion shifter.

Justin: Fairplay Shifters

For a shifter Justin sure had to question everything that fate threw his way. He knew Annabelle was his mate from the start and he still questioned it. I never expected the wolf shifter to be his half brother.
