Michigan Millionaires #5

Christmas and Commitment

Rate this book
Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year.

But not this year.

This year, I’m stuck at a ski resort where I know no one and I have to explain to every bell boy and waiter that I’m there alone because my fiancé is a jerk and I’m not actually celebrating my honeymoon and I’ve taken a vow of celibacy for life.

I’d rather be at home with my hot chocolate and my fire, but it seemed stupid to let the resort go to waste. I plan on holing up in my suite with a bottle of wine and my suitcase full of books. No trips to the bar where my vow could be at risk.

But when the eye candy in the suite next to me shows up at my door half dressed looking for his dog, my vow might have to go out the window.

[ENGLISH]
When Mia's fiancé cheats on her, she gets caught in a scandal and needs to leave her town for a while. Unable to spend the Christmas holidays with her family, she decides to go to the ski resort reserved for her honeymoon, where she can enjoy the mountains and the snow... all by herself.

But then, when she arrives at the hotel, she meets her suite neighbor: Tristan. He's extremely attractive and he's not looking for anything serious with any woman after all the pain of his past. It's the perfect opportunity for a few days' romance, but Mia is not sure she can handle something like that. When Tristan begins to meet her, he thinks that she's different and feels something special for her, but that can be dangerous because he doesn't want to risk being hurt again.

Now, both Mia and Tristan must try to overcome their past and discover if they can give themselves an opportunity to finally be happy.

Mia had very bad luck in love. I really understood her situation, but I didn't like some of her reactions. On the other hand, Tristan's past broke my heart. He's so sweet that I couldn't help but love him. He is a beautiful character who has some really sweet gestures that made me sigh.

Another character that I loved was Frankie, who works at the hotel and quickly becomes a great friend and confidant for Mia. He's such a funny character and made me laugh more than once with his comments. There are also Tristan's friends who are very funny and created really entertaining situations.

I really liked the relationship between the protagonists, how they start to trust and to know each other. I loved reading about the activities they do. The romance in this book is really sweet and beautiful, although it develops too fast for my taste. There is also a lot of drama, situations full of conflicts and indecisions that gave tension to the plot.

It's a perfect book to read at Christmas, a fast paced and entertaining reading with a really nice and sweet story. I loved it.

Me gustó mucho.

2.5 stars. A short lil Christmas read. It was cutie and cringy at the same time. The whole millionaire thing wasn’t exactly necessary and the whole thing was incredibly fast. Got whiplash in places. However, it was a nice lil romance for the holidays that didn’t have a hold on it at the library so I can’t complain.

good hook but Not my style

I liked her backstory but I just didn’t like him. He seemed spoiled the car accident was a wasted plot because he was a jerk about the whole thing and just didn’t even come off as a real person. I admit I started skimming but I really don’t understand how he all of a sudden was in love with her either.

Synopsis: Cheated on YET again… this time right before Christmas and what was supposed to be her honeymoon. Now her family has bailed (since she was supposed to be on her honeymoon anyway) and she has no one to spend Christmas with, even though it’s her fave holiday. So off to the ski resort she goes, after all, her cheating lying ex already paid for it and he’s sitting in jail. So why let it go to waste? She might as well drown herself in wine and books in the luxury room. - But then she realizes she has a hottie for a neighbor… however, she doesn’t do flings and doesn’t want to be cheated on again… - He only does flings because of his past trauma. But perhaps they’ll change each others minds this Christmas season…

My Thoughts 👇

I’ve only read one other book in this series, book 4, which was an absolute fave! So I decided to give book 5 a chance (eventually I might start the series in the correct order 😂) and it was pretty good overall! Less than 200 pgs of holiday festivities, dog walking antics, two people not dealing well with their traumas, yet feeling drawn to each other anyway. - I wasn’t really a fan of the MMC at first, but once I found out why he was a playboy going from woman to woman, I gave him some slack. - I did feel that the jump from ‘let’s just be friends’ to ‘I wanna live the rest of my life with you’, happened way too quickly. Like, we had a good lead up to that part, but once we hit it, we jumped to the next almost immediately and that just didn’t make sense to me. So had some conflicting feelings about this one, but overall was happy with how it turned out. - The audiobook was very enjoyable to listen to.

I know I just received this yesterday, but OMG!!!!

I started reading it last night and apparently I needed a cutesy read. I've been dragging lately on my reading.

I am still super used to Kimberly Loth's fantasy writing, but even in those she knows how to write a romance. And boy, is this one romantic.

Set around Christmas, our story takes place at a ski resort. Mia has just had her wedding called off but she still goes for her "honeymoon" since it was paid for already. She is determined to have a good time even if she is alone. Tristan is spending the holidays with friends from his fraternity when he bumps into Mia. Can their romance last???

Kimberly makes the "Will they? Won't they?" aspect of romance feel so agonizing. Both characters are so obviously falling but have been hurt before and don't wanna be vulnerable. All characters are very flustered out and lovable.

And that is a fantastic aspect seeing as this is number six in a series I have yet to read any others of. Which will soon be remedied! However, this can be read as a standalone, but obviously several characters have appeared in the previous novels.

This is a relatively clean romance. yes, there is some talk about sex and such, but the writing is not smutty in the least.

Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Another great addition to the Omega Mu Alpha series. Mia is a school librarian who has had one too many bad relationships. When her fiancé is caught with a high school student, the wedding is off. But, Mia has a honeymoon already paid for at a posh ski resort. Her usual Christmas traditions have been squashed by her family's plans, so she decides to take the honeymoon on her own as a vacation.

Tristan and his frat brothers, along with their Dobermans, are staying at the same resort. In fact, Tristan is right next door to Mia. After a chance encounter between Tristan and Mia's car, he can't go skiing or snowboarding with his friends because of a concussion. Instead, Mia decides to try to cheer him up (and maybe have that fling that her sister thinks would do her a world of good).

Their relationship progresses much faster than either of them foresees. Of course, there are misunderstandings along the way before we reach the HEA, but that is one thing I love about this series. Some clean romance, some humor, some missteps, and dogs.....what's not to like?

I love these books and I truly enjoy Kimberly Loth's writing, whether is in the romance or fantasy genre. If you are looking for a good clean romance that is fully engaging, has great characters and a great story, you will enjoy this book (as well as the others in the series).

A magical time of year. Two people who are to scared and vow never to love again. A fantastic funny BellBoy and a group of friends who interfere in both Mia & Tristians decisions, forcing them together. But with secrets and lies all around them, will they ever have a chance at happiness again. There are tears and laughter, hope & betrayal but the biggest thing missing is trust. Then add the magic of Kimberly Loth and you get a lovely, intense romance story....I no Kimberly Loth through her YA Fantasy books. This is the first romance book I have read by her. I was intrigued to see if her amazing imagination and creativity could transcend across the genres with the same aptitude that keeps me reading her fantasy books. The answer is a resounding yes !! You will be able to experience the feelings and magic of Christmas and emotions so strong your heart will feel full to bursting. Her abilities for realism are astounding enabling a reader to be transported into another time and place experiencing every thought, smile or a single tear down a a persons face.

Yeah...

First I don't buy that they're in love at all. They barely spent time together. Second I didn't like how Mia was blamed entirely for the accident when Tristan just ran out into the icy road without looking. Third Vi's character was WAY too much of a crutch who doesn't have a consistent viewpoint and basically just says whatever Loth needs her to say to motivate Mia. Like one minute she's saying Tristan is a total player and the next he's prince charming and Mia should let herself love him. Third no high priced resort is just going to let people have keys to other people's rooms without permission from the occupant. Fourth the way everyone is rich and Mia's job is just treated like something she shouldn't fight for because if she's with Tristan the guy she doesn't even really know that well she doesn't need to work at all isn't okay. Fifth the whole set up for putting Mia at the resort is never actually resolved.

Parts of this were great. Charming even but as a whole it was highly unrealistic with too many plot holes.

I picked up this Christmas romance hoping for something cozy, and that’s exactly what I got—almost too much of it. The story is basically a mug of hot cocoa in book form: sweet, warm, and topped with enough whipped cream to give you a sugar rush. It leans heavily into the Hallmark-movie formula, complete with small-town charm, sparkling lights on every surface, and a commitment-phobic protagonist who somehow discovers the true meaning of love right before Christmas Eve.

The romance is closed-door and very PG, which fits the tone, and there are some charming moments that made me smile. But I’ll be honest—I found myself wanting a little more grit. The conflicts dissolve as soon as they appear, everyone is unfailingly nice, and the emotional stakes barely register past “will they or won’t they kiss under the mistletoe?” It’s cute for what it is, but it doesn’t dig deep.

Still, if you’re in the mood for something light, festive, and pleasantly predictable, this hits the spot. Just don’t expect it to leave a lasting impression once the Christmas lights come down.

This is book 8 in the Michigan Millionaires series. It is about 10 men who were part of Omega Mu Alpha as college students and formed lifelong friendships. It can be read as a standalone book.

Most of the men (and wives of many) of OMA are meeting, as they traditionally do, at a ski resort in Colorado for Christmas. Mia was supposed to be there on her honeymoon. She is a school librarian, her fiancé was a teacher at the same school, but was caught having an affair with a student. She wants to skip the whole thing, but her family has made other holiday plans, so they talk her into going anyhow.

Mia and Tristan run into each other in the hallway outside their side-by-side rooms. Due to an accident, Tristan can't hit the slopes and Mia helps try to cheer him up and make his stay more pleasant. Will these two people, who have learned not to trust in romance, find their way to each other?

I've loved every book in this series so far and I love this book as much as the others. Getting to meet Mia and Tristan was great. Finding out about Mia's past and knowing exactly how she feels about men and them cheating on you sucks. I don't really know what Tristan has been through, but I can still sympathize with what he's been through. I love that these two find each other and that they can help heal each other. This story is so sweet and dream like it's almost got a fairy-tale feel to it. I really enjoyed this story and all the bumps along the way just make it better. Even with everything the story touches on it could be sad, but this story actually left me feeling light and happy. I'm also not really a fan of the holidays anymore but this story has me looking forward to Christmas this year.

I truly enjoyed this. The characters, their emotions and the situations they found themselves in were realistic, relatable (for the most part - I mean, how many of us ordinary plebs can honestly imagine/identify with the problems a multi-millionaire might face?), heartfelt and sometimes hilarious! It's not too long; I read it in just over an hour. My only niggle, albeit a teeny one, is in chapter 18 - two trays of Christmas cookies prepared and put into the oven, then Mia and Tristan fall asleep on the sofa... I dunno about you, but in my house we'd have been rudely awoken by the deafening screech of the smoke alarms going off, then frantically running around flapping tea towels around our heads, desperately trying to wave all the smoke away! Other than that, another sweet, heartfelt romance in this series from Kim.

Book 6 in the series does not disappoint. Mia is coming off a break-up from a true louse of an ex and decides to take the vacation they had planned. She ends up on the same floor as the Omega Mu guys after one of them has to cancel. Hilarity ensues thanks to one of the mischief making dogs who always seem to know before their owner who their perfect match is. Tristan is the classic playboy, but he has good reason as he has a bit of a tragic past in his closet. Mia is perfect for him and the connection is instant. I love the heart strings that these books pull and the clean romance is done excellent. It's another ballpark hit for the author. I volunteered to read this book.

A chance meeting between to unlikely people not looking for a relationship or love.
Mia is abandoned by her family at Christmas. She was supposed to be on her honeymoon but she picked the wrong jerk again.
So she's going on her honeymoon by herself to read, two weeks at a ski lodge and she doesn't ski.
Tristan is still missing his wife that died 6 years ago and is spending Christmas with college buddies and some of their wives.
His dog is his only companion his dog that makes friends with Mia, a car accident and a chemistry they can't ignore.
I love this series and can't wait for more.

I voluntarily review an ARC.
This is the sixth book of the Omega Mu Alpha series, the books are standalones.
I can't tell you how much I waited for a new OMA brothers book, but again it was totally worth the wait.
Tristan's beloved wife died six years ago and he can't let anyone near his heart since.
Mia's heart got broken in all three relationships. She's done with men. But she could imagine a holiday fling with certain player...
Who knows books by this author, will already guess there will be more turns in this clean romance. Of course are sweet dogs involved and we meet some characters of the previous parts.
Highly recommended series.

3⭐️ another cute read in this series. This one had some consistency issues for me… the length of time Trista’s wife had been dead changed from the epilogue in the previous book. There was also some pacing issues… I feel like he went from “I’ll never love again bc I can’t lose someone again” to “I’m head over heels in love with Mia” very quickly. I was also disappointed that she never told us anything more about Mia’s life in Iowa… did she testify against her sleepy ex? Did she lose her job or leave on her own? Has she completely moved to Florida with Tristan or is she just visiting and they’re still figuring things out?! So many unanswered questions. Still a cute quick read though!

Such am intriguing fast read with fullblooded characters and emotions all over The place. I fall for those characters and ale The others as everyone has something in themselves.
Tristan is a characters that does not want aby commitment but why is that? What had happened to him? To make him choose only "safe" girls for one night stands.
Mia is on Her honeymoon but with no groom... will się manage to be happy There and staje strony in The resort?
I nad not read toner books in The Series but I nad enjoyed this one completely.

She's done it again. A beautiful story of heartache and recovering from a broken relationship and realising that the love of her life also liked students from the school they worked at. He ended up in prison and she was put on indefinite leave. She was encouraged to go on her honeymoon by her dad and her sister. She meets Tristan and the bell hop keeps pushing them together. She hits him in the car and feels guilty. The more time they spend together the closer they get. That's the end of it. She's hooked and scared. Her sister helps convince her he's a genuinely good guy.

This was a cute story. Your typical romance…with a Christmas time theme.

Mia has been in several bad relationships and her last one leaving her with the Honeymoon destination over Christmas to be used alone.

Tristan was on his annual ski trip with his friends when they ran into each other. The group of ladies took Mia under their wing since she was alone to enjoy the holiday with their group.

Tristan was hot but could she trust another man? Tristan could he fall in love again after losing his wife?

Mia & Tristan’s story was a sweet & emotional Christmas romance.
I adore Mia, she is such a strong woman, she has gone through so much and is making the best of an awful situation. I love the way that Tristan & Mia keep getting thrown in each other’s paths. Neither of them are looking for more than a Christmas fling; but both of them feeling undeniable chemistry & emotions.
This was healing for both of them.
There were lots of laughs and shenanigans, new friendships, found family, another one of the sweet dogs & a sweet & beautiful Christmas romance.

The best holiday romance I’ve read this year, this author made these characters spring to life and capture your heart! Of course I knew who I wanted to reach an HEA but I truly enjoyed imagining this storyline as it unfolded. All the doubts, fears, and finally blooming love just wafted off these pages. As an added quirk, who doesn’t want a Frankie on their vacation? All my reviews are always voluntarily written.

At first I wasn't too thrilled about Tristan and his playboy ways but he totally redeemed himself with Mia. Even though he was not the type of man Mia would look for after having too many cheater relationships, she can't help but fall for the caring man. Especially when he made such overtures for Christmas for her. But Mia is still gun shy and Tristan will do whatever it takes to make her his. I just loved this little novella in the Omega Mu Alpha Brothers series. We end up finding out why Tristan was always so quiet in the other books that he showed up in and it is completely understandable. Mia has had it rough in the relationship department but this year she has the best Christmas ever. I loved reading about Mia and Tristan and can not wait to see if there are more books in this series to come out. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

These books, in this series, are amazing romances. They are truly romances and not spicy at all, it is about the fall of true love. [What we all want true love to be] So far each of these have been my "favorite" of the series, I can't pick a favorite because they are all great! And none of them maKe me roll my eyes and think ... unrealistic, which is beyond fantastic. Highly recommend this series!

Ummm not my favorite

Why is that every female lead so far has either a deaf mom or parents or bad mom? Why are they always dead broke, my favorite ones are liz and Jessica because they both have their own ideas and careers. I hope the next ones get some change up. Tristen bugged me because initially he ran out in front of Mia without looking so playing victim was weird. Mia was so wishy washy it was kind of annoying.

A sweet holiday romance that blends festive cheer with heartfelt emotions. The characters were easy to root for, and the story had the cozy charm of a Hallmark Christmas movie. A few moments felt predictable, but that didn’t take away from the warmth and joy it delivered. Perfect for a seasonal read.
