I borrowed this months and months ago, but totally forgot to note which patterns I liked before returning it. So sort of a waste of a credit, but it was bugging me that I didn’t make notes for future reference if I need a certain pattern to make.

Liked: Electric echinacea block, Feather block, fireflies (5 triangle, firefly paper pieced blocks), Jungleview (many monstera leaves), and Double diamond wedding ring (didn’t like the diamond accents though).

Interesting, especially if you’d like to design your own fpp pattern, but I don’t think I’ll sew any of the patterns.

NB: There’s a super detailed sketch of a “tattooed Septopus” on page 116, but no pattern. The only pattern is for a plain one. The detailed one is really amazing, but even if there was a pattern included, I probably wouldn’t have a reason to make it.

The book also was overwhelming with the amount of information, and it felt like it was in a strange format.

Quilting that sets you free

As someone new to paper piecing and longing to turn my own photos etc into quilts this book is a godsend.
Interesting. Informative and most importantly supportive of expanding on both the authors and your own creativity.
The break down of lessons makes this easy to follow.

Excellent! Clear instructions on piecing, fabric choices and laying seams, and how to create your own pieced designs from photos. Lots of detailed (i.e. lots of tiny pieces) full size patterns.

I really loved this book. The explanation of the design process was thorough, but it was the design challenge section that really held my attention.
